In reality, the maps are a fraction of what they used to be, the game is flooded with uninspired slop skins, bugs, and questionable design choices nobody seems to have asked for.
Back in the BF4 and BF1 era, I used to come home from work and play a couple of rounds with friends, and sometimes even solo. Nowadays, we probably play once or twice a month, and almost every time it feels dreadful.
I don't know if it's the close proximity of everything, the COD like movement, the map design, or a combination of all of it, but you are constantly trying to dodge bullets from every possible direction. Crazy, right? I'm complaining about getting shot in a shooter.
But the problem isn't simply getting shot. It's getting shot from multiple directions almost all the damn time. Half the matches feel like you're either stomping the other team or getting absolutely stomped yourself. There is barely any middle ground.
And don't even get me started on the game modes. They keep adding random modes nobody asked for while removing Rush and TDM. Like, what? Maybe I'm getting old and need to get with the times, but eh. Clearly I'm not the only one who feels this way.
The charm isn't there anymore. The immersion isn't there either.
Vehicles somehow feel sluggish, while others require an insane amount of practice just to become remotely competent. Take jets. I was never some amazing pilot, but in BF4 and BF1 I could at least hold my own. Here? Nah. Every damn match seems to have one Ace pilot who apparently does nothing besides sit in front of a computer treating Battlefield like a full time job.
What are you supposed to do? Grab an AA launcher? Sure. Except half of them feel slow as hell.
And the RPG. Oh, how they massacred my boy.
They basically got rid of meaningful splash damage on a freaking RPG. Then, even when you land what looks like a perfect hit, half the time the damage doesn't seem to register properly.
I genuinely don't understand why the developers are so hell bent on spending time adding pointless crap nobody asked for instead of improving what Battlefield is actually supposed to be good at.
All that development time could have gone toward more maps, for Christ's sake.

This game is definitely different to BF4 but it scratches a lot of the right itches. If you likes BF Bad Company 2, BF3, BF4 or BF Hardline, I would recommend you give this game a try. Giant tiles, cosmetics, bundles, promotions and layers of flashy presentation dominate an interface that should simply help me get into a Battlefield match. The presentation increasingly feels built around engagement and monetisation rather than the game itself.
That's what makes me miss the older Battlefield games. They weren't perfect, but they felt like games first and products second. The excitement came from destruction, huge battles, vehicles, teamwork and completely unscripted Battlefield moments. The menus didn't need to constantly remind you that there was something else you could buy.
Many of the developers who helped establish what Battlefield was have since moved on to other projects, and personally I find it telling that some of those games seem more interested in experimenting and simply being fun. Meanwhile Battlefield feels increasingly shaped by the corporate reality surrounding modern AAA development.
And I don't think Battlefield is alone. It's part of a wider industry that has realised there's potentially more money in turning games into ongoing storefronts than simply selling people a great game. Battle passes, cosmetics, engagement systems and carefully designed storefronts aren't extras anymore — they're increasingly part of the foundation the game is built around.
Underneath all of this, BF6 still has good gunplay. But then you have horrible netcode, infantry being farmed by vehicles and matches increasingly populated by bots.

2. If you shoot an explosive projectiles like RPG or grenade launcher but die right after shooting, they just completely disappear and do 0 damage. Same issue from day 1 beta.
3. anti-glare attachment doesn't work half the time (for both you and the enemy)
4. And worst of all, I have to queue into multiple lobbies every single ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ time just to not be matched into an empty lobby even during peak hours. Might possibly the worst mm system in the entire human existance.
Audio is straight ♥♥♥♥. Soldiers drilling into my cheeks are silent but my teammate running 50m away sounds like an apocolypse, tanks are driving into me with 0 audio, 0 vertical audio separation, sometimes someone running above or beneath you sounds like they're running into you with incredibly inconsistent volume and lack of directionality.
Half the lobby either sits on rooftop or corners for 0 contribution, every single map is just complete ♥♥♥♥, coming from BF1 the quality in maps and atmosphere is just night and day. On BF1 I actually enjoyed playing most of the maps, BF6 even with new maps, makes me want to respawn irl. Small, uninspiring maps and even on "large" maps it doesn't feel good at all.
Objectives are 10 ly apart, you get sniped by some dumb ♥♥♥♥ camping all game with 0 captures, wait till squad or obj is available, spawn into 5 enemies and die, rinse and repeat.
Even worse when you consider the fact that BF1 runs max settings at over 180 FPS on my i5-13600KF and 6800 XT setup with 0 upscaling, while looking pretty similar in terms of graphics quality. BF6 if I want to get half decent performance I need to run lowest settings + FSR, which makes the game look blurry as ♥♥♥♥ no matter what, and makes spotting enemies, especially at range, difficult, but doesn't matter because you are spotted 24/7 this game.
Not even gonna begin talk about hitreg and bloom in this game.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Hopped on today thinking the new top gun update and it feels like it's somehow gotten worse? Like, it was fine idk what happened to the game but it feels worse than it did previously. The new carrier game mode is kinda whack too, it's less about capturing the points and assaulting the enemy carrier and more just go straight to the enemy carrier and spawn camp? Idk, from the POV of someone that's done both spawn camp and spawn camped; neither are really fun or feel rewarding.
Wouldn't waste the money or storage.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

However, EA’s latest requirements are a massive overreach. Forcing paying customers to alter their BIOS and enable TPM 2.0 just to boot a video game feels less like anti-cheat and more like glorified spyware. To make matters worse, this arbitrary lockout completely screws over players with older, yet perfectly capable hardware that doesn't support TPM 2.0. It puts everyone in the frustrating position of having to compromise system privacy or upgrade their setup just to access a game they paid for. Launched the game and immediately was hit with an error from their anticheat. This is a new PC with no other software or games downloaded (except for minecraft). \n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tBeta was such a breath of fresh air in the current FPS shooter market, and as soon as the full release dropped, it turned into COD. Completely lost all it's realistic look with skins and crossover content that are only there to suck your wallet dry and ruin any realistic feel the game had. The battlepass is shoved down your throat every time you hop on, a stupid battle royale years after the genre fell off, and terribly balanced maps that don't feel like they were ever play tested. How do you drop the bag after you already had a winning formula? Greed. EA has lost all good faith and I cannot recommend this game to anyone simply for the fact that it's nothing more than a scheme to print bills and you, the paying customer, are the cattle to be milked. You are a statistic to be drained for all your worth and discarded. Our world is ruled and run by those whose only thought is of themselves. You mean nothing to these suits, for they serve only fleshly lusts. Anything is better than the willing impoverishment we put ourselves through by falling for the same smoke and mirror show every year. Your time is better spent anywhere else. Go outside and take a walk. Do you feel the sun as it warms your face? The sound of the wind and the birds fill your ears and every care and worry melts away. Money, fame, power, these things are vapid, our selfish desires are fruitless, for the wind blows all the same, and the winged creatures continue the songs they've sung for years. It's a song that will not cease to play when you are gone. You, o man, are so small, yet you persist. Don't you see how you were knitted? You were made for something more than to lay in your wrath and jealousy. You are more than the things you put in front of your eyes, for isn't life more than what we consume, the body more than what it is adored with? Look up, o man, for there is Someone up there, Someone who made you, Someone who knows you by name, Someone who has so much more in store, you need only reach out and call His name.
