It might look like a cakewalk if you watch some videos showing you the gameplay on the lowest of levels, but once you start the more challenging ones, you'll be in for a surprise. The difficulty gets higher and higher, and even higher than that! The good thing is that (in my opinion) this makes it fun. You learn new strategies, combination of buildings and units, which perks to use, and so forth, when you are facing the harder challenges, since it pushes you to think outside the box.
Many people talk about the classic "just one more move..." when it comes to the Civilization game series. I think it fits here too! With now over 150 hours of playing on Steam, I have many times sat and thought, "One more game, one more chance to beat the quest..".
Speaking of quests, not only has the game a single-player campaign, it also sports multi-player and a quest-mode! The quest-mode is where I have had the most fun, but also the toughest challenges. Some of the quests are insanely hard, but it feels very rewarding when you finally nail them. :-)
It is also worth mentioning that the game receives updates and new additions to gameplay. When I first played it (on Xbox PC) it was smaller and less advanced than now. It is great to see the game developing, and the developers deserves praise for this I think.
All in all, I highly recommend you give this game a chance, but beware, hours can fly by fast when you are facing interesting and challenging quests. ;-)

After a point, I did feel that the novelty wore off and I didn't have much left to explore. But I'll chalk it up to the game still being in early access. Basically each king has their own troop types, upgardes etc. but you combine them with that of other kings for interesting combos such as infinite attack speed, or troops that spawn new troops 47% faster each second until they spawn waves that scale into infinity, absurdly replicated upgrades and bonuses basically.
Over time the game got streamlines and easier as more combos became vaiable. For the asking price I think the game is very enjoyable. My time represents how long it took to 100% the game, though I had to return to it a few times as updates added more content and thus the actual number would be slightly lower. I still think you should play "The King is Watching" first as that's a similar but far superior game, in my opinion, but this was a fun little game and I will likely return to it in the future as more content is added.

Just finished my first full run of 9 Kings on King difficulty and honestly, this game is ridiculously fun.
The gameplay loop is incredibly addictive. Every run feels different, and there’s so much replayability in experimenting with different builds, strategies and combinations. Finally beating a run on King difficulty felt genuinely rewarding.

Each king has a set of buildings/units that have quite a few synergies to help you scale and beat 30 rounds of enemies. There's also a meta progression aspect with permanent upgrades you can unlock and the slot for future runs. On top of the regular game mode there's also a quests mode with quite a few extra challenges for each king. Overall a really fun strategy game with a ton of content to dive into!\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

1 some kings can feel bad to play to me. if you play a king you expect to well use the cards to win, some kings rely on others. from my time the king of progress feels this the most. he feels.. confused high max hp troop, and spell that likes that makes sense. building that rases hp ok perfect... uhhh but no. theres no way to take advantage of scraping cards. you CAN get loot and sell it... but then you get nothing and die. 1 card like uh factory to make junk that does nothing and can be sold. That may help fix the need for other kings, and open more stats up. Lots of room? fill up on factory's to get huge stat ups. i don't know maybe its me but if im a king i want to win with the troops THEY have. i feel the same with greed and to a lesser extent time. I just want more self resiliency.
2 quest mode difficulty feels random and thats due to 1 mostly. some troops for lack of better term suck ass. I'm looking at you Rat's and Mobs. Giving many high level troops should make things easy. But they scale so poorly its feels 1000% harder than quests right next to it. Some i can do by stumbling making many misplays and hoping. But others seem to need rng to get the right cards or upgrades to FORCE synergy. I just wish that all maps feel hard and need a restart and not the odd mix of jokes and hell spawn.
3 blessing(thats the name right?) just add like 3 times the amount and or a 1 or 2 for them. spice of life and all that jazz, they feel to much like decrees that sometimes suck and you get 1 choice. Trying towers best i can do is baby boom. like what? they come so early as well so you don't have the wealth to get useful stuff.

Then make the chaos up either faster or you can click trough it. same thing with endless buy land just faster.
let us check class decrees in the codex . And who we have and what they give in menus. like the card or decree sections.

\n\n\t\t\t\t1 some kings can feel bad to play to me. if you play a king you expect to well use the cards to win, some kings rely on others. from my time the king of progress feels this the most. he feels.. confused high max hp troop, and spell that likes that makes sense. building that rases hp ok perfect... uhhh but no. theres no way to take advantage of scraping cards. you CAN get loot and sell it... but then you get nothing and die. 1 card like uh factory to make junk that does nothing and can be sold. That may help fix the need for other kings, and open more stats up. Lots of room? fill up on factory's to get huge stat ups. i don't know maybe its me but if im a king i want to win with the troops THEY have. i feel the same with greed and to a lesser extent time. I just want more self resiliency.
2 quest mode difficulty feels random and thats due to 1 mostly. some troops for lack of better term suck ass. I'm looking at you Rat's and Mobs. Giving many high level troops should make things easy. But they scale so poorly its feels 1000% harder than quests right next to it. Some i can do by stumbling making many misplays and hoping. But others seem to need rng to get the right cards or upgrades to FORCE synergy. I just wish that all maps feel hard and need a restart and not the odd mix of jokes and hell spawn.
3 blessing(thats the name right?) just add like 3 times the amount and or a 1 or 2 for them. spice of life and all that jazz, they feel to much like decrees that sometimes suck and you get 1 choice. Trying towers best i can do is baby boom. like what? they come so early as well so you don't have the wealth to get useful stuff.
