One of those really big ones with lots of things to do. Wide as an ocean but ultimately as deep as a puddle.\n\nNo Man's Sky originally came out in a very barebones state, and has spent the last ten years giving out free content updates. This mean's there's a lot of toys to play with, from farming to fishing to building ships to intergalactic trade, but everything feels very underbaked.\n\nSure you can go underwater, but the missions under the sea are the same as on the land(just in the water). That doesn't mean it's not fun, but after the third or fourth mission it becomes monotonous.\n\nLuckily for No Man's Sky there's just so much to do you can just move on. Had enough fun fishing? Go shoot some pirates. Tired of combat? Live out your Steve Irwin fantasies and chase down all the creatures on a planet!\n\nAnd, at the very worst, even after 100+ hours 100%'ing No Man's Sky and finding all its warts and missed opportunities, the core feeling of taking off into space on your little rocket ship to explore the galaxy is a good one and worth the price of admission.","timestamp_created":1774958705,"timestamp_updated":1774958705,"voted_up":true,"votes_up":177,"votes_funny":2,"weighted_vote_score":"0.906769871711730957","comment_count":0,"steam_purchase":true,"received_for_free":false,"refunded":false,"written_during_early_access":false,"primarily_steam_deck":false,"app_release_date":"1471021020","reactions":[{"reaction_type":31,"count":14},{"reaction_type":29,"count":4},{"reaction_type":34,"count":3},{"reaction_type":24,"count":1},{"reaction_type":26,"count":1},{"reaction_type":32,"count":1}]},{"recommendationid":"222975593","author":{"steamid":"76561198068844058","personaname":"Mr.MichaelWizowski","persona_status":"offline","profile_url":"https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198068844058/","num_games_owned":0,"num_reviews":1,"playtime_forever":19489,"playtime_last_two_weeks":0,"playtime_at_review":19489,"last_played":1773182139,"avatar":"bfe043dfc9c865a26d820a17b34f6027c3910f13"},"language":"english","review":"Since Sean won't let us pay for DLC, I have had to resort to buying copies of the game for friends. As a fan of the genre, it feels like a once-in-a-generation experience. The sheer variety of biomes and the limitless potential for base building are incredible. The death of Harambe, Fidel Castro, Prince, Muhammad Ali, Gene WIlder, I could go on. But as a wee teen, I was the laughing-stock for trading everything I owned in at GameStop. To buy a PS4, to pre-order No Man's Sky. There was much criticism. \"You can't possibly create a game that expansive!\", \"They keep delaying because they won't be able to deliver on their promises\". But I said NAY! The bells and whistles weren't what flattered me, it was the potential, the implications, and the math behind the scenes that drew me closer. Then that fateful August, I fell in love. \r\nSure it was a bit bland, and didn't quite have the depth like what was promised, and to say that a lot of functionality was missing would be an understatement; but I saw potential, whimsy, and creativity. I thought to myself, if such a small team could face the storm of criticism they knew would follow, with such passion behind their sail. This game will turn into something really special.\r\n\r\n Much like our first love, Minecraft, which had such a humble beginning. Like an old sturdy house, was built on \"good bones\". Little did but a few of us know, that these bones were made of downright adamantium. \r\n\r\nThis game has indeed aged like a fine red wine. Put to shame all of those critics who thought that our team of twelve was working on naught but a pipe dream. I tried it a few months later, and at first, it seemed like a nice game.\r\n\r\nHowever, the repetition quickly became obvious: planets, animals, minerals, atmosphere, weather—everything feels the same, over and over.\r\n\r\nWhat really frustrated me was losing track of a system I discovered at the start. I played offline, and when I went online, the system had been renamed by other players. Names like “choke&puke” completely ruin the feeling of discovery.\r\n\r\nThe storyline is confusing and nonsensical. The game constantly forces you to warp from system to system dozens of times—50 or more—just to unlock blueprints or complete missions. Quests loop endlessly: go meet person A, who sends you to person B, who sends you back to person A, then to a third person, and so on. Even holo-telecommunication could have solved this, but instead it’s all tedious running around.\r\n\r\nYes, the game mechanics are vast, but they’re extremely shallow. Overall, exploration feels less like adventure and more like busywork.\r\n\r\nVerdict: A visually impressive universe, but the gameplay loop, repetitive systems, and player-renamed discoveries can make it frustrating rather than fun.","timestamp_created":1774775047,"timestamp_updated":1774775047,"voted_up":false,"votes_up":246,"votes_funny":74,"weighted_vote_score":"0.624836981296539307","comment_count":0,"steam_purchase":true,"received_for_free":false,"refunded":false,"written_during_early_access":false,"primarily_steam_deck":false,"app_release_date":"1471021020","reactions":[{"reaction_type":28,"count":13},{"reaction_type":29,"count":13},{"reaction_type":30,"count":4},{"reaction_type":31,"count":3},{"reaction_type":26,"count":2},{"reaction_type":24,"count":1},{"reaction_type":32,"count":1},{"reaction_type":33,"count":1}]},{"recommendationid":"223007993","author":{"steamid":"76561198198615382","personaname":"ICE1CE","persona_status":"offline","profile_url":"https://steamcommunity.com/id/ice2k97/","num_games_owned":63,"num_reviews":21,"playtime_forever":178,"playtime_last_two_weeks":0,"playtime_at_review":178,"deck_playtime_at_review":178,"last_played":1772956425,"avatar":"538ab579335292dae5f3bb0a1ce63a956a0cd4b2"},"language":"english","review":"Short IRRELEVANT review\nBut\n\nBought the game because of \"Interstellar\" and makes me want to play because of \"Project Hail Mary\"","timestamp_created":1775900500,"timestamp_updated":1775902265,"voted_up":true,"votes_up":8,"votes_funny":0,"weighted_vote_score":"0.591225802898406982","comment_count":0,"steam_purchase":true,"received_for_free":false,"refunded":false,"written_during_early_access":false,"primarily_steam_deck":true,"app_release_date":"1471021020","reactions":[]},{"recommendationid":"222007181","author":{"steamid":"76561198020247027","personaname":"Ratyimeister","persona_status":"offline","profile_url":"https://steamcommunity.com/id/norbil06/","num_games_owned":98,"num_reviews":7,"playtime_forever":2688,"playtime_last_two_weeks":0,"playtime_at_review":2688,"last_played":1771094172,"avatar":"54458348a877558059b36f4fef9f3148330023e4"},"language":"english","review":"It is fun for a while, but after the magic of novelty wears off its just boring. It has decent, unique universe to explore, base construction, fleets and settlements to manage, warp mechanics, teleports, automatic resourse gathering, decent craft and fuel mechanics.\n\nBut, it also has a huge downside for those who seek fun, entertainment and a place where you can apply your mind, make decisions, seek opportunities and whats more important setting primary GOAL!\nI built plants, I gather resourses, I manage settlements and bases, I buy semi-robotic ships, that add me few slots for comfort, not for some mechanic to get. The reasonable question: for why am I doing it? For survival? No, I have millions of units...for profit? Trade system will ruin it and you have nowhere to actually use it.\n\nTrading system with looking for NPC to lend, then speek with them trying to get random price is something unique, frustrating and boring at the same time. On space stations you can sell with random prices as well, but it result in price fall like forever in this system. You can't do anything to change the economy of the system.\n\nLogistics. Game has freighters that jump to other systems and thats it. You have multiple bases around universe and you care everything in your pockets! to the trade terminal with random prices. You grab tons of gold from extractors - your are rich. Teleport on any base sell it with -15% and who cares you will get more...soon. \n\nMining - On planets - best in the world. At space - shooter on asteriods, that randomly appears from nowhere and you shouldn't seek for them.\n\nI've played almost everything from Mass Effect to Eve Online. Each game has its own pros and cons. MNS has the closest feel of how space sim should look like, but it lacks economy, market, warfare, factions, story and logistics. Universe is huge, but feels robotic and dead.\nIt has everything for comfortable lazy evening gameplay just to spend few hours in comfort doing something for \"fun\".\n\nI can't recommend it as a game in general, rather like ability to explore universe, have some casual fun for several hours in a week. But the game is decent quality and has potential if handled properly and with a strategy. No space sim could match MNS if their sandbox could tie players together and let them influence the rich universe, fight bosses, trade, deliver goods, etc.","timestamp_created":1774952629,"timestamp_updated":1774952629,"voted_up":false,"votes_up":3,"votes_funny":0,"weighted_vote_score":"0.561911642551422119","comment_count":0,"steam_purchase":true,"received_for_free":false,"refunded":false,"written_during_early_access":false,"primarily_steam_deck":false,"app_release_date":"1471021020","reactions":[]},{"recommendationid":"223488565","author":{"steamid":"76561198007959303","personaname":"ratednikanoru","persona_status":"offline","profile_url":"https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198007959303/","num_games_owned":0,"num_reviews":24,"playtime_forever":3922,"playtime_last_two_weeks":1361,"playtime_at_review":3887,"last_played":1776472386,"avatar":"778116339dbffbfc4915efe16e1082919bbaac15"},"language":"english","review":"Everyone has said how well they have turned things around, every post, every review. Wow they have done so much with xyz.\n\nSo I picked it up on sale and dumped some time into it, and Its not great, You will miss out on a lot of time gated stuff, so either cheat that in or just be sad about I guess (21 expeditions, maybe 20, full of some cool cosmetic stuff that is in the game files but you can't have because you didn't play it when it came out 10 years ago)\n\nLevel scaling is rage inducing, as you get better classed ships the pirates magically also have better ships. Thought you would power up moving from a C class to an A or S class? Just kidding bruv, now it takes three times as long to kill the same pirate for the same reward despite doubling your DPS. \n\nHandful of frigate models, ok whatever models take time to make right and at least they are well done. Just kidding! Half of them you glitch through the walkways into space or get stuck in the wall. They exist only to send frigates on time based missions like a mobile AFK type game. The inside looks exactly the same no matter which one you choose, same sitch as the space stations. Ok well, the pirate one has a red glow.\n\nRandom bugs encountered every day, from colonists floating randomly in the air to buildings that spawned in the air/ground. Trade stations where everyone is landing and clipping through the ground, freighter missions where they just...disappear afterwards. Hostile animals that glitch through the ground to bite your ass, I am sure there are many more I have yet to encounter.\n\nTrillions of systems to explore, but each one has exactly one station that looks exactly the same inside with the exact same layout of settlements on the ground pulled from a pool of what must be 10 or less. The animals are slightly different randomized texture with maybe a different part. The plants are pretty diverse i guess. There are maybe 3 different \"Hostile\" plants that spawn on every planet.\n\nFreighters again. Why is there always 2-3 FLEETS of freighters that spawn right on top of me. Every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ system. Yeah, guess i didn't want to actually engage my pulse drive. No I insist, jump on in so we can trade...oh wait you can't actually trade with them. Guess I will just sit here and listen to the annoying sound of 100 frigates jumping into my face, slow boat it past them, and continue my pulse drive. Oh no no no NONONNOOO I accidently let off the space button! *SOUND OF 100 FRIGATES JUMPING ON TOP OF YOU IN THE MIDDLE OF NO-WHERE* \n\nThe same 10 missions on rotation, but you can do those on procedurally generated planets, or you can do the pirate ones in space! Just make sure to bring your worst ship since it will be easier for the same reward.\n\nHow the hell have they gotten so much praise for turning it around? I mean..was it really THAT bad at launch? I remember picking it up and refunding it when it came out, but It didn't leave enough of a bad impression I guess to make me think THIS is a good space game. \n\nThe pokemon are cool though, maybe they should just pivot in that direction and make an elite 4 or something to fight so I can forget about the space.","timestamp_created":1776470197,"timestamp_updated":1776470240,"voted_up":false,"votes_up":13,"votes_funny":3,"weighted_vote_score":"0.553356587886810303","comment_count":2,"steam_purchase":true,"received_for_free":false,"refunded":false,"written_during_early_access":false,"primarily_steam_deck":false,"app_release_date":"1471021020","reactions":[{"reaction_type":28,"count":1},{"reaction_type":31,"count":1},{"reaction_type":34,"count":1}]},{"recommendationid":"222961614","author":{"steamid":"76561199169039716","personaname":"(:helthe2","persona_status":"offline","profile_url":"https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561199169039716/","num_games_owned":51,"num_reviews":46,"playtime_forever":3948,"playtime_last_two_weeks":1336,"playtime_at_review":1423,"last_played":1777229210,"avatar":"663da0a1e4a794e7cb756f20da6652f8b780433a"},"language":"english","review":"Sure, I would really recommend this game.\r\nA lot of grinding but pretty fun, it makes farming pretty enjoyable!","timestamp_created":1775844829,"timestamp_updated":1775844829,"voted_up":true,"votes_up":2,"votes_funny":0,"weighted_vote_score":"0.545454561710357666","comment_count":0,"steam_purchase":true,"received_for_free":false,"refunded":false,"written_during_early_access":false,"primarily_steam_deck":false,"app_release_date":"1471021020","hardware":{"manufacturer":"Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.","model":"B450M DS3H V2","dx_video_card":"AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT","dx_vendorid":4098,"dx_deviceid":29504,"num_gpu":1,"system_ram":"16337","os":"Windows 11","cpu_vendor":"AuthenticAMD","cpu_name":"AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Six-Core Processor ","gaming_device_type":1,"dx_driver_version":"32.0.21043.1005","adapter_description":"AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT","driver_version":"32.0.21043.1005","driver_date":"2026-2-18","vram_size":8151,"screen_width":null,"screen_height":null},"reactions":[]},{"recommendationid":"222712033","author":{"steamid":"76561199011150611","personaname":"Michalko14cz","persona_status":"online","profile_url":"https://steamcommunity.com/id/Michalko14cz/","num_games_owned":176,"num_reviews":61,"playtime_forever":3978,"playtime_last_two_weeks":0,"playtime_at_review":3801,"last_played":1775902672,"avatar":"66b858d5081767797fb0fad2bbc60b7606346a83"},"language":"english","review":"great exploration game, but I got one problem with it. why all tech breaks when jumping to new galaxy its just a waste of my time to repair it and its anoying.","timestamp_created":1775528383,"timestamp_updated":1775528383,"voted_up":true,"votes_up":2,"votes_funny":0,"weighted_vote_score":"0.541778981685638428","comment_count":1,"steam_purchase":true,"received_for_free":false,"refunded":false,"written_during_early_access":false,"primarily_steam_deck":false,"app_release_date":"1471021020","reactions":[{"reaction_type":26,"count":1}]},{"recommendationid":"222938831","author":{"steamid":"76561198209183761","personaname":"CDMusic","persona_status":"online","profile_url":"https://steamcommunity.com/id/CDMusicSteam/","num_games_owned":100,"num_reviews":3,"playtime_forever":4691,"playtime_last_two_weeks":0,"playtime_at_review":4691,"last_played":1761351518,"avatar":"465d2b01cffdbb484865e8e45f762738b98c897e"},"language":"english","review":"By far the best redemption arc a game has had as far as I'm concerned.\r\n\r\nLets see here: Amazing art direction; a deep, thought-provoking narrative; a beautiful soundtrack and an addicting gameplay loop - No Man's Sky is truly one in a million. Tutorials could be better, but overall, this is a must have for any fans of space exploration games.","timestamp_created":1775988912,"timestamp_updated":1775988912,"voted_up":true,"votes_up":2,"votes_funny":0,"weighted_vote_score":"0.533898293972015381","comment_count":0,"steam_purchase":true,"received_for_free":false,"refunded":false,"written_during_early_access":false,"primarily_steam_deck":false,"app_release_date":"1471021020","reactions":[]},{"recommendationid":"223074927","author":{"steamid":"76561198247397404","personaname":"Yeatte","persona_status":"offline","profile_url":"https://steamcommunity.com/id/_Yeatte_/","num_games_owned":0,"num_reviews":60,"playtime_forever":3408,"playtime_last_two_weeks":0,"playtime_at_review":3408,"last_played":1739639298,"avatar":"1fd32ef9c7b450ab84bebcdd2498853b89e07027"},"language":"english","review":"Every year I see that this game has had huge major updates and then I will play and find out all the content is more of a sidequest than anything, which would be fine if this game had decent content outside of that.\n\nIt's overused at this point but when people say a mile wide and an inch deep they really mean it.\n\nI individually like how there is base building and power systems and automation and exploration but most of the time it is just a chore to get through.\n\nIt feels like doing anything in the game is just a side project, I explore the world and make bases and then all I have is more bases and systems seen (this is my favorite part of the game though). \n\nI automate gathering a resource and all I have is infinite of that resource that I never really needed much of anyway.\n\nI smuggle contraband and make more money than I'll ever use in like less than an hour.\n\nI find and upgrade ships and freighters and never use them.","timestamp_created":1775965138,"timestamp_updated":1775965138,"voted_up":false,"votes_up":6,"votes_funny":1,"weighted_vote_score":"0.533829689025878906","comment_count":0,"steam_purchase":true,"received_for_free":false,"refunded":false,"written_during_early_access":false,"primarily_steam_deck":false,"app_release_date":"1471021020","hardware":{"manufacturer":"System manufacturer","model":"System Product Name","dx_video_card":"NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER","dx_vendorid":4318,"dx_deviceid":9989,"num_gpu":1,"system_ram":"32674","os":"Windows 10","cpu_vendor":"GenuineIntel","cpu_name":"Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9900K CPU @ 3.60GHz","gaming_device_type":1,"dx_driver_version":"32.0.15.9186","adapter_description":"NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER","driver_version":"32.0.15.9186","driver_date":"2026-1-20","vram_size":16063,"screen_width":1920,"screen_height":1080},"reactions":[{"reaction_type":28,"count":1}]},{"recommendationid":"223055323","author":{"steamid":"76561198240766238","personaname":"g4rp","persona_status":"offline","profile_url":"https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198240766238/","num_games_owned":0,"num_reviews":1,"playtime_forever":537,"playtime_last_two_weeks":0,"playtime_at_review":537,"last_played":1775936742,"avatar":"83d33de8200fa5fd5ed73d4a0a9899c78856bb2d"},"language":"english","review":"A beautiful but hollow experience\r\n\r\nNMS is not a space sim; it’s a cartoonish survival game in an aquarium. The seamless takeoff is a cool gimmick for the first five minutes, but it forces the planets to be tiny and clustered right next to each other. There is zero sense of actual scale.\r\n\r\nExploration is a total illusion. The procedural generation runs out of steam after a couple of hours—you start seeing the same assets over and over, just in different colors. The gameplay loop is a tedious chore of constantly recharging resource bars, and the console-style UI is a nightmare to navigate.\r\n\r\nIf you’re looking for a serious space experience, realism, or complex logistics, there is nothing for you here. It’s just a bright sandbox for taking screenshots.","timestamp_created":1775942495,"timestamp_updated":1775942495,"voted_up":false,"votes_up":10,"votes_funny":3,"weighted_vote_score":"0.5311698317527771","comment_count":0,"steam_purchase":true,"received_for_free":false,"refunded":false,"written_during_early_access":false,"primarily_steam_deck":false,"app_release_date":"1471021020","reactions":[{"reaction_type":33,"count":1}]},{"recommendationid":"222353900","author":{"steamid":"76561199057725706","personaname":"pazvox","persona_status":"offline","profile_url":"https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561199057725706/","num_games_owned":0,"num_reviews":2,"playtime_forever":385,"playtime_last_two_weeks":0,"playtime_at_review":385,"last_played":1774908862,"avatar":"bbde1f34795d47499aea4686d82426f4ed360c6c"},"language":"english","review":"i really love this game because every time i play it i get the awesome feeling of being in space and its so good and enjoyalbe and i really love the aliens and the planets and the spaceships and i wanna get the corvette so i really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really love this game thank you","timestamp_created":1775160865,"timestamp_updated":1775160865,"voted_up":true,"votes_up":9,"votes_funny":1,"weighted_vote_score":"0.530129432678222656","comment_count":3,"steam_purchase":true,"received_for_free":false,"refunded":false,"written_during_early_access":false,"primarily_steam_deck":false,"app_release_date":"1471021020","hardware":{"manufacturer":"ASUS","model":"System Product Name","dx_video_card":"NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060","dx_vendorid":4318,"dx_deviceid":10370,"num_gpu":1,"system_ram":"16173","os":"Windows 11","cpu_vendor":"GenuineIntel","cpu_name":"Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-14400F","gaming_device_type":1,"dx_driver_version":"32.0.15.9597","adapter_description":"NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060","driver_version":"32.0.15.9597","driver_date":"2026-3-17","vram_size":7956,"screen_width":null,"screen_height":null},"reactions":[]},{"recommendationid":"223394762","author":{"steamid":"76561199016464034","personaname":"OPI","persona_status":"in-game","profile_url":"https://steamcommunity.com/id/OpiMorphee/","num_games_owned":88,"num_reviews":3,"playtime_forever":7003,"playtime_last_two_weeks":1287,"playtime_at_review":6380,"last_played":1777155340,"avatar":"f68e3d63c6bee434042019882dfeea432a430452"},"language":"english","review":"No Man’s Sky isn’t just a game to me, it feels like a place where I can breathe, explore, and feel at peace. The universe is endless, beautiful, and full of things that always surprise me. It’s the kind of game you can get lost in for hours and never feel tired of it. But what makes it truly special for me is that I get to experience all of this with someone I love. Every planet we discover, every moment we spend together in this game, it all feels more meaningful. Even the simplest things feel warm when I’m playing with him. I never get bored of this game, not because it’s just good, but because of who I’m sharing it with. I sincerely hope life is always kind to him, that his path is smooth, and that his blessings keep growing, so we can keep finding and enjoying more beautiful games like this together. And thank you, my love, for always giving me the best things, for always making me feel cared for, even through something as simple as a game. I truly appreciate everything you do.
