There's a lot to do in the game now compared to what you could do in the past, but the game still just trickles down to:
- warp to new system
- find and collect resources
- maybe check the space station if you are still getting unlocks
- build base/ship/upgrade
there's side stuff to do, but generally, that's the loop.

It might be confusing first couple of hours coz the game drops HUGE amount of mechanics onto you. But when you get used to basic mechanics you'll see how much content the game offers you. \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tNo Man's Sky has long been one of my favorite games. It's a space exploration, survival game, where you start off on a single planet filled with beautiful sights given the simple task of repairing your starship, only to find you're only on one of the many stunning planets in your star system, and that system is also one of the infinitely-many systems in the game.
You get to explore, see new planets, new star-system types, spend tens to hundreds of hours doing just that because really it's hard to run out of new things to see, or you can explore these worlds and look for your quintessential starship, mine resources and earn enough money to get the upgrades you want for it to make it perfect, upgrade it and make it better, etc.
And once you're done with your starship, there are still a plethora of things to do. You can do the same thing with your multi-tool, which is the thing that allows you to mine, fish, and do combat - yes there's combat in the game too - in the game.
Once you're done with that, you could go and interact with the other lifeforms and yes they exist too. You could start learning their language and finally be able to understand them, or make your relationship with their race better by doing quests for them or giving them gifts... and even then you're far from finished.
There's a solid base building system in the game as well, so you can build your own very base/home too, potentially after spending many hours finding the perfect planet to build it on.
Done that? Well I forgot to talk about just how cool each of these worlds could be. There are many different species of animals and many many different plants and minerals on each of these wonderful planets. Each of them also has a unique atmosphere, weather, climate and ecosystem, and a different set of hazardous things too. You could then find some ocean worlds and get to see and explore an underwater world as well...
I can't possibly name every thing there is in the game. There's just so much to do, and the sweet part is that the developers, even after 10 years, refuse to stop adding more wonderful content to the game, and they work hard to keep the game alive by new updates and expeditions - which are limited time events.
Oh and did I mention the game is a shared-world experience? You could play with friends yes and that's just one side of it, the other one is that you can go to the worlds the other players discovered, see the bases they've built, go to the nexus space station to see the others carrying out tasks and doing things, and because of that, I find that the entire game somewhat paradoxically (because of the infinitely large world) feels very alive sometimes. Now frankly, I've kept finding the co-op portion of the game lacking considerably (which was made better after they added big starships you could ride with your friends), and connectivity problems were plenty for me as well, but one could say the developers more than make up for that in other aspects.
Oh and did I talk about the story? From a technical point of view, the story wasn't the best-narrated one in the gaming world. Every dialogue is written in texts and you have to read them which is very lame and boring.
BUT, personally, I really really connected with it. It might be just me, but I found the plot of the game very philosophically complex and deep. The game definitely does have a story, and I would say it is a very well thought one and it just deeply resonates with me. But I again will say that that's not something many people say and it might just be me.
TL;DR, it's an awesome game. If you love exploration or survival open world games, I seriously implore you to give this game a try, or if you're hesitating to pay money for it, at least check its gameplay out on YouTube to see how it is :D\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Once you get everything done all the op things you can't really do much with most of it. Overall, I love the game, but there really isn't much to do when you finish everything. And I have done literally everything. I will likely do one more playthrough in VR, Permadeath, no HUD, and the hardest difficulties. I was just entertained, until I built my first Corvette; that's when I fell in love with the game. Suddenly, I really felt like I was living the fantasy of wandering the universe. Knowing there's still so much to do and explore is wild.
PROS
It is very satisfying, visually. Seeing the biome of a new planet still floors me, each and every time. I get very excited doing my initial scans of the flora and fauna. The process of entering and exiting atmospheres, as well as warping from system to system really fulfills all my immersion needs.
The most important positive is the depth of the game. This many hours in, and I still feel like I've only scratched the surface of what's possible.

I will say, it does feel empty. If you're looking for social immersion or a feeling of role play from the NPCs, NMS will probably disappoint you. Planets are somehow diverse and samey. Biomes are gorgeous, but somehow all contain the same resources, collected with the same methods, each and every time.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t
