The creature is easily one of my favorite part of the game. Its design is creepy and memorable, and the way its sounds and breaths makes every encounter feel tense and unpredictable.

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tA Beautiful Story That Was Dragged Down by Far Too Many Puzzles
I’m a huge fan of A Plague Tale. The first game impressed me with its story, atmosphere, and characters, while Requiem, despite some issues with its mechanics and pacing, still managed to keep me invested mainly because of its story. That’s why I approached Resonance cautiously. I had a feeling the series might simply turn into another franchise churned out for the sake of it.
Fortunately, that didn’t happen.
Resonance pleasantly surprised me with its very concept. Instead of repeating Amicia and Hugo’s story once again, we get Sophia — a character from Requiem — and a completely different gameplay approach. There is much more action here: grappling hooks, parries, counters, critical strikes, abilities, and different ways to approach combat. At times, it almost feels like a “linear Assassin’s Creed,” while some platforming sections and traps reminded me of Prince of Persia. And some of the environmental puzzles in Chapter 3 gave me a little bit of a Hellblade vibe.
I genuinely enjoyed the first puzzles. Especially the challenges involving light, mirrors, jumping, and memorizing routes. But closer to the finale, the game became far too obsessed with the same sphere, beams, and light mechanics. At some point, I was simply exhausted by it. The same goes for combat: the game seems to be built around its new combat system, yet there are surprisingly few proper fights. Many enemies quickly become nothing more than an obstacle, while the bosses turned out to be one of the weakest parts of the game. So towards the end, I even lowered the difficulty and simply focused on the story — I just wanted to finally find out how everything would end.
And the story really does carry the game.
I especially enjoyed Theseus’ trials and the story of the island. Visually, the game is incredible: ancient ruins, labyrinths, light, the monster, huge set pieces — everything looks fantastic. The photo mode is also a great addition, and it allows you to capture some genuinely beautiful shots.
But what disappointed me the most was the way the characters were handled.
Léni was one of my favorite characters. She was constantly by Sophia’s side, helping her and never abandoning her. So her death wasn’t just a dramatic moment for me — I was genuinely shocked and upset. The same goes for the kind giant at the beginning of the story. You barely have enough time to get to know him, yet his death still hits hard.
Faro, however, went in the completely opposite direction.
He had the potential to be an incredible antagonist. His conflict with Sophia, his connection to her father Alec, and his own motivations provided all the ingredients for a really strong character. But the game spent far too long making me see him as an obvious enemy, only to turn him back into an ally far too quickly. As a result, his death was supposed to be tragic, but after everything that had happened, I found it difficult to genuinely feel sorry for him. His final act, however — keeping his promise to Alec and giving Sophia the chance to say goodbye to her father — did change my opinion of him somewhat.
The finale, however, finally explains why this entire story was necessary.
Once the connection between Sophia and a Carrier of the Macula is revealed, and it becomes clear that the Macula can manifest in completely different ways, everything finally starts to make sense. Sophia’s story isn’t simply a separate adventure on an island — it expands the very concept of the A Plague Tale universe. If the Macula manifested through rats in Hugo’s case, here we see a completely different form. And that opens up enormous potential for future games.
That’s why, after finishing the game, I look at the series completely differently. Now I’m much more interested in seeing not just another Carrier and another story involving rats, but discovering just how many different ways the Macula can manifest.
And above all, I really hope we get a sequel featuring Sophia and Amicia. They have completely different skills and personalities, but together they could make a very strong duo: Amicia’s stealth and experience combined with Sophia’s aggressive fighting style. And through Léni’s story, they already have an additional emotional connection.

Here I am, finally played it, to 100% too. I'm a little mixed on how I feel about it and I will explain below, so let's get to it! Usually I do a pro's and con's list but I am going to include parts about the story and characters because I think I need to explain my reasoning behind how I feel.

Okay, after that has been said - skip forward to Requiem where she tells none of this to Amicia or Hugo. It feels as if the developers forgot all about Sophia and how she acted in Requiem. She was... I think 37 in Requiem and this game is set 15 years BEFORE. So... hasn't Sophia been through the same as Hugo? Doesn't this game just confirm that?
While playing you experience flashbacks which take you back in time to the height of the bronze age and you get to see the Minoan society and what it may have looked like.
If you don't know the story of Theseus and the Minotaur, or why a sea is called "The Aegean Sea" - please stop reading and go check it out! It's a really, REALLY cool story! Anyway let's get back on track!
This time around Theseus is actually King Mino's daughter - Ariadne which was actually surprising to me and this part of the story captivated me. Looking at the walls, the structures, the elaborate designs... oh my goodness, it was just gorgeous. If this was how good the height of the bronze age looked, take me!!
Theseus's sections are basically combat sections which, when they happened was rather refreshing because it took you away from all the puzzle's you have had to solve so far, but at the same time it was more of the same boring combat. Nothing unique sadly. Just the bronze age, a new "character" and people dressed up differently to attack you.
Let me explore this "flashback". Let me poke around and find something I'm not supposed to. Let me interact with something and in the future it's there (as a collectable or lore for example). Sadly, this doesn't happen.
I felt as if Leni got introduced to the game way to quickly for your relationship with her to be established correctly, for what's shown throughout the game. What is she to you? Your BEST friend? A lover? Someone you consider family? Then when she dies... the game clearly want's to make you feel something about her I don't know about you guys but I just shrugged her off as if to go "Thank god. Let me play now".
The other character I want to mention is Faro. He get's introduced at the start of the game as really sympathetic towards you after you find out your father sadly did not return from his "expedition" at the start of the game . He then goes on to act like a maniac looking for his next fix. Treating you like you are nothing. Then the story comes together and he also dies on you. He holds a "wheel for light", severely injured while you complete the game. His death was also pretty emotionless as he treated you like garbage after being that father figure at the start.
Honestly... neither of these characters had the emotional impact compared to characters in the previous 2 games... this was a let down to me.
Sadly... the combat was very boring. Repetitive and felt out-of-order for "A Plague Tale". For most of the time I was spamming X, with a little bit of holding X in and a dodge or parry here and there. Archers were no threat at all to me, shield carriers just got sparta kicked away from me cause you know... this game has "ABILITIES" and big armoured guys the size of The Hound from Game of Thrones got slashed at with my knife till they died. Nothing about the combat in this game was threatening at all. Compare this again to the first 2 games... you had to think with your head to get around enemies.
Personally, I don't think this is the right path to go with A Plague Tale but alas, this is just my own opinion of course!

⚫A little overpriced for what it offers. I wouldn't say it's worth £44. Maybe around the £25-30 mark.
⚫Under-developed characters - Leni and Faro. Who seem to get thrown into the story and not given enough time to make an emotional impact on me at all (when it's needed).
⚫The boring, "ability" based combat which get's rather dull and repetitive quickly.
⚫Enemies are not a "threat" at all to you. You can kill anything just spamming. Full plate armour enemy? Amicia would need to hide, Sophia just goes "KICK" and "SLASH" and he's dead.
⚫The mistake with Sophia. I feel as if this was made by people that may have forgotten Sophia already existed and how she acted in Requiem. It turns her character on her head entirely when you see her in Requiem... she acts so confused as to what's going on.
⚫The game costs more that A Plague Tale: Innocence (which is shorter than this apparently)
At the end of the day. everyone has their own opinion. For me Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is not going in the right direction I would like to see the series going.

I loved the stealth/sneaking around in A Plague Tale. It felt so unique to me. It felt good. Not something copy and pasted just to make a mechanic and say "WE DONE IT".Sadly... the combat was very boring. Repetitive and felt out-of-order for "A Plague Tale". For most of the time I was spamming X, with a little bit of holding X in and a dodge or parry here and there. Exploration wise
As a final nitpick - why are there so many collectables? So many resonance fragments? I get the past and present collectables but so many damn fragments to collect just takes your attention off of "WHATS GOING ON". Got to go check this corner for a collectable, hold up! The first 2 games didn't have all of this. It's that bad the devs had to reduce the resonance fragments (pretty sure they did). Other things I liked/Pro's

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI think it's much harder to create a prequel than a sequel, and Asobo did a great job once again. It's even more difficult when, because of the timeline, you can't use one of the series' signature elements—the rats.
Instead of trying to force them into the game, Asobo changed the gameplay style from the stealth-focused approach of the previous games to a more action-adventure experience, and the way they handled that change was wonderful.
Sophia was already a great character in Requiem, but we knew very little about her. Now we finally get to know her better, understand her past, and love her so much more as a character.
The story was great from start to finish. My only criticism is that, considering the events of the final chapters, if I had been behind the game's direction, I would have reduced some of the adventure elements toward the end and focused more heavily on the story and characters. Still, I think it worked well overall.
Music and voice acting have always been among the best parts of the A Plague Tale series, and once again, they did a great job here.
The combat was okay. It's fairly simple, but it does its job. The adventure side of the game was much stronger, especially the puzzles and exploration. One thing I really appreciated about the puzzles was how the game handled hints. Instead of having your companions constantly repeat the solution to you, they only give you hints when you actually want them. It's a small change, but it made solving the puzzles much more enjoyable.
The graphics were great as always, with a very stylish art direction. Performance was also very smooth overall, although I occasionally experienced some minor stutters that felt like the game was freezing for about a second. They weren't frequent or annoying enough to seriously affect my experience, but they were noticeable.
Overall, Resonance was a great experience and a worthy addition to the A Plague Tale series.

My only criticism is that, considering the events of the final chapters, if I had been behind the game's direction, I would have reduced some of the adventure elements toward the end and focused more heavily on the story and characters. Still, I think it worked well overall.
Music and voice acting have always been among the best parts of the A Plague Tale series, and once again, they did a great job here.
The combat was okay. It's fairly simple, but it does its job. The adventure side of the game was much stronger, especially the puzzles and exploration. One thing I really appreciated about the puzzles was how the game handled hints. Instead of having your companions constantly repeat the solution to you, they only give you hints when you actually want them. It's a small change, but it made solving the puzzles much more enjoyable.
The graphics were great as always, with a very stylish art direction. Performance was also very smooth overall, although I occasionally experienced some minor stutters that felt like the game was freezing for about a second. They weren't frequent or annoying enough to seriously affect my experience, but they were noticeable.
Overall, Resonance was a great experience and a worthy addition to the A Plague Tale series.

In Greek Mythology, Ariadne helps Theseus navigate the Labyrinth by giving him a ball of thread, allowing him to find his way out after defeating the Minotaur. It's a small detail but seeing it made me appreciate the game even more. And it gets even more interesting when you realize that Ariadne in the game mirrors both Ariadne and Theseus.
AND THEN THERE'S THE MUSIC. CHEF'S KISS. ABSOLUTE CINEMA.
The acting deserves just as much praise, the performances are fantastic, but Sophia's actress in particular deserves way more recognition! I better see this game getting some nominations, because there are performances that deserve to be talked about at the next Game Awards.

I was a bit skeptical at first because the massive rat swarms that were such an iconic part of the previous two games aren't present here. However, once you play the game in full, you'll understand why they weren't included. I obviously won't spoil it, but the final cutscene puts everything into perspective and made that decision make a lot more sense to me.
The music is fantastic and fits the atmosphere extremely well. There are several moments where the soundtrack really elevates what's happening on screen and gives the game that emotional, cinematic feeling the A Plague Tale series does so well.
The story is very well written and kept me hooked throughout the entire game. The pacing is also excellent. There wasn't really a point where I felt like the game was dragging things out just to make the playtime longer.
The characters are another highlight. The voice acting and dialogue are extremely well done, and the performances make the more emotional moments hit that much harder.
The combat is also oddly satisfying. It's definitely more action-oriented than the previous A Plague Tale games, but I really enjoyed the change. The sword combat, parrying, and other mechanics are simple enough to pick up quickly while still being extremely satisfying, plus the charms you get along the way dial in the satisfaction you get from the combat even further.
The environments and overall atmosphere are incredible as well. The game has some absolutely beautiful locations, and the attention to detail makes exploring them worthwhile even though the game itself is fairly linear.
It's a shorter game at 14 chapters, and my playthrough averaged roughly an hour per chapter, give or take. It's also a fairly linear experience, which I personally consider a positive. Not every game needs to be a 50–100 hour open world filled with repetitive side content. Resonance tells the story it wants to tell, keeps things moving, and doesn't overstay its welcome.
As someone who really enjoyed the previous A Plague Tale games, I think Resonance does a great job of expanding the world and its lore while still feeling connected to what came before. Going into it, I wasn't entirely sure how necessary a prequel would feel, but by the end I was completely sold on it.
Truly a spectacular prequel that does not disappoint.
If you're already a fan of A Plague Tale, this is an easy recommendation. And if you're hesitant because of some of the changes from Innocence and Requiem, especially the absence of the rat swarms, I strongly recommend playing it through to the end before judging that decision.

I checked out Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy on the Steam Deck and the Steam Machine and was pleasantly surprised.
On the Steam Deck, you have chapters 1-2 (I haven't played any more yet). With a medium preset and upscaling, I get a stable 30 fps, and with a low preset and upscaling, around 40-50 fps. :) If you also want to use frame generation, you can have a nice 60-70 fps game. :) So far, I'm really surprised and can recommend it right now. :)

You don't really need to have played Innocence or Requiem beforehand to enjoy it (in my opinion) although obviously you'll get more out of some of the connections if you have.
I found the gameplay of the previous games quite slow. Innocence in particular could get a bit boring for me at times because of how limited you were in combat and how heavily it relied on stealth. Requiem improved on this quite a bit and I enjoyed it more, especially when it came to defending yourself, but it still had that slower style of gameplay.
Resonance is very different. If anything, it feels more like playing Tomb Raider with an A Plague Tale story and setting. There's more emphasis on exploration, climbing, puzzles and actual combat, and personally I didn't mind the change at all. The gameplay felt more engaging to me than the previous two games, even if it does lose some of the slower survival/stealth identity that made A Plague Tale what it was.
I also think Sophia works well as the main character and the game does enough with its own story that someone could start with Resonance without feeling completely lost and then play the other two games later.

I really, really enjoyed previous Plague Tale games. 100% them both and I was looking forward to whatever Asobo Studio would do next.
So Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy comes around and I decide to buy it day one - which isn't something I'm usually doing, especially not before even reading any reviews.
Played whole game on the highest difficulty setting (Nightmare), so some of my points will make more or less sense depending on which difficulty you would select and your skill level (I am really not that good).
So, the good.
Graphics and tone and general atmosphere are really good, as well as animations (including facial and lip sync). You can see the devs worked hard to make this their best looking game to date.
There's a lot of variety and impressive vistas and visuals, some effects are really striking - really, really good looking game.
Audio is amazing as well, with superb OST and audio mixing and effects as well as stellar voice actor performances all over. Top tier, absolutely.
Combat is decent overall and the finishers are short, but brutal and intense - like, you really, really wouldn't want to be on their receiving end. A neat little feature: if you kill the second to last enemy and the last one is fighting your companion, they will finish the job basically at the same time as you. Which allows you to move on a bit faster instead of having to finish the last strangler.
Puzzles are solid and a few of them were quite creative, but they're not overly difficult and will stop most players only for a couple of minutes with maybe one or two demanding a bit more thinking time. And if you're struggling, there's a system in place for NPCs to give you hints. Those puzzles don't overstay their welcome and serve as a much needed breather between other sections.
Now, the bad or meh.
Pacing issues - even during the tutorial you can feel how the pacing isn't exactly great. Characters are barely established, player have no time to get used to them let alone start caring for them. And this happens a bunch of times, when dramatic events aren't that dramatic because of pacing. Or other issues, I'll get to them in a bit.
Logic and the suspense of disbelief. Sadly, where previous games from Asobo had no issues, Resonance is constantly stepping into the same spike trap over and over again.

The lead character is a high hypocrite and later on a big secondary character is an even bigger hypocrite. So we have our main protagonist, who is basically a pirate going on murdering spree and still lamenting how the "bastardly soldiers" dared to slaughter their companions. Who were effectively pirates. Who even had a fighting pit back at their base. But they surely never killed anyone, right?
Constantly blaming the soldiers for everything bad that happens to her, while totally ignoring how her own gang was just a bunch of pirates who went on to basically bomb Venice just to get something they needed and then crying when the city replies in kind (I mean, I would start hunting pirates myself if I were them) - yeah, that's a high moral horse Sophie is riding on.
The secondary character who isn't really well hidden (I mean, you could see from a mile away what's gonna happen) is even worse, effectively killing the entire city/civilization and not minding it at all/not realizing it while still claiming moral high ground.
Same lead character will call the soldiers "witless brutes" while they were trying to solve a puzzle - but they had no chance to solve. Because they didn't have the necessary item to see the clues. Sophia has one. I really would like to see her try that puzzle without that object - but of course, it's the soldiers who are stupid, not her, nuh uh!
Another issue with logic: Sophie encounters a new set of closed doors, that weren't open in ages. After some time she manages to get past them. Only to discover soldiers somehow got ahead of her. Somehow. And they do so across almost the whole game. I know, gameplay reasons, but it never delivered in a believable manner.
Next we have such actions like two tiny women opening up a giant, stone door. Door that a bunch of soldiers using a damn ram couldn't open. And yet, our heroines do open these door. And many more. Without much issue, actually. Same door, nobody else but them could open. Not to mention that somehow they have enough strength to massacre an entire army on their own and wrestle even with huge guys wearing full armor.
Remember how Amicia conquered her foes not by sheer strength but by being smarter than them? By being cunning, agile and thinking two steps ahead?
Sophie is nowhere near as subtle.
Some more? Sure!
The whole gigantic construction created to keep the monster in? Could be disabled by one lever. One unguarded lever.
And that's just the tip - there's much more odd things that don't seem to make sense and the more you think about them, the worse it gets.
And of course, the story and characters themselves. The original myth is twisted and basically put into the "white male bad, woman heroic" mold.
We have race swapping, gender swapping and basically every male is a bad character - the good one dies early on.
Really it reeks of DEI and while I tried to ignore it, at some point it became unbearable. And it never gets actually better, every white male is bad. Only good male - except the one who dies early on - is black.
And the story boils down to basically "woman acted on emotions and killed everybody and then doesn't even mind it". Yeah, everything could be avoided with some logic. But no logic would mean the king (male!) was right, so here we had to rely on emotions and this of course, didn't lead anywhere good.
Worst thing is - while I was actively hating the secondary important character - the whole story didn't really matter. Nothing new was learned about the universe, about how "the cursed blood" operates other than Hugo wasn't the only one. Which we knew long before this game. And Sophie as a character isn't interesting enough as well as any other NPCs in there.
And honestly, you can see where everything will go and how it ends for each NPCs from the start. It's obvious who will die, who will turn "evil" and then have a redemption arc (only to die, of course), who will betray etc. No surprises there.
Combat, while decent, has issues on the hardest difficulty - especially since most combat encounters boil down to "have multiple enemies thrown at the player" and occasionally "spawn some more when few of the original group of enemies are dead". And since enemies have no issues attacking through each other and you can take only 2 hits... yeah you get the picture.
Skills - only two realistically improve the combat and effectively are necessary to survive. Progression isn't satisfying after those two skills, as they don't really change anything.
Progression by items isn't really great either, it's cool to find stuff and explore, but they won't matter as much.

I love both Plague Tale games and Greek mythology, so I was pretty much sold on this.
Beautiful game and it runs really well. There’s way more combat than in the original games, but it actually feels pretty good and not clunky.

Well, the new A Plague Tale is finally here, and what can I say?
Unlike Innocence and Requiem, where the main focus was on stealth, survival, and Amicia’s sling, Resonance makes the gameplay much more dynamic. There are more combat encounters, exploration, vertical movement, and puzzles.
The story doesn’t disappoint either. We play as Sophia and travel to a mysterious island full of ancient secrets and dangers. The story is interesting while still feeling like a true A Plague Tale, despite the gameplay changes.
The soundtrack is another big plus. The music does a great job of creating the atmosphere and adding tension and emotion to the dramatic moments.
The graphics and optimization are also quite good. At high settings with DLSS Quality, I get around 45–60+ FPS, which is a pretty good result for a game with visuals like this on my PC.
Overall, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is a great experiment for the series. The developers didn’t simply copy the previous games — they added more action, exploration, and puzzles.

В отличие от Innocence и Requiem, где основной упор был на стелс, выживание и пращу Амиции, в Resonance геймплей стал намного динамичнее. Здесь больше сражений, исследования локаций, вертикального перемещения и головоломок.
Сюжет тоже не подвёл. Мы играем за Софию и отправляемся на загадочный остров, полный древних тайн и опасностей. История получилась интересной и при этом ощущается именно как A Plague Tale, несмотря на изменения в геймплее.
Саундтрек — отдельный плюс. Музыка отлично передаёт атмосферу, напряжение и драматичные моменты.
Графика и оптимизация выглядит хорошо. На высоких настройках с DLSS Quality у меня игра идёт в 45–60+ FPS, что для такой картинки вполне хороший результат для моего компьютера.
В итоге Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy — хороший эксперимент для серии. Разработчики не стали просто копировать предыдущие части, а добавили больше экшена, исследования и загадок.

This game manages to explore that idea through the life and eyes of Sophia, a protagonist now to have a meaningful portrait in this saga of Plague Tale. In a place that was extraordinary to explore.
This game manages to deliver a story a bit differently than previous installments. One of the things I love about it is how the back story of this place was interpreted through the eye of Sophia’s vision. Having her this resonance with the place, became more known to her due to factors in the story that are explored in conversations in requiem and here are at the start of her story known from the get-go.
This game feels and seems to be in obvious reasons a technical achievement in graphical fidelity and even gameplay, although, the gameplay is basic as it can be, the only thing I can add is that I loved it. Because it was a gameplay that was even tied to the place in away, by involving herself into searching for what happened to her father, her visions lead her to a place that made her even more in tune with her visions, more vividly, palpable even. That also was the thread leading to a plot to understand the past of this place that once more led her to feel like the power of the place. Like if the place was preparing her hence the skill section of the game.
Which was very telling because as you progress the story and the skill set she acquires as you explore and pick up golden clams that are on this island it feels they are pieces of the place itself and with that you level Sophia’s skill set. Even the skills showcase the soul of this character in her visions. It was very impressive addition because again, made the skill leveling process and the playthrough of the game as you battle more tied to the plot itself.
So, as you travel to this island, another thing I found so refreshing is the level of grandeur the entire places look and feel. A place that has a history rooted in a mysterious ending that ripples through the land as you visit each corner of it. I was so amazed at how the place was made, that I literally was walking the entire time in this game; to just admire seeing and feeling and enjoying how epic sense of scale was all made to feel.
This place has this somber history as the previous installments as you keep furthering onwards. But in this one, while it does not feel as grandeur as the whole structure of the island and how it makes you feel, it does pack a sucker punch. Because since the start of Innocence and Requiem this history of what link these three entries are connected in what the heck is the prima macula. Here in Resonance, we not only do not know where it comes from yet, but have another history tied to a place that has also destroyed a kingdom.
The story of the king is one that feels like a cautionary tale. A tragic ending for sure, to those in power that make decisions like the ones he made was incredible to see a finally that was impactful enough. Also, clearly the Minoan era was incredibly portrayed on how that past seemed to look, knowing the Minoan era was a decade of a rich and prosperous time in its history according to what is said and known. Here the visions of the game showcasing that era from this past that is set in the Minoan era, what a sight to behold.
Now, I honestly did not care about Sophia’s friend Leni. I can understand that while trying to make this game and the signature of the franchise itself with this idea of duo protagonist as your main and the second one being the one who fallows you, is all good and fine but when the hammer does not hit the head of the nail… it misses. Because all the time she was with Sophia, her dialogs felt unappealing, very too non-existent that even though dialogs were well phased out, there were very few that were not worth it and even out of nowhere banters that make no sense to me.
The story of Sophia is one that was manage really nicely at the start, but I whish there was more so I hope that conversation at the end by her saying “that is a long story” might be a hint that more of her story is to be told. Because here is the thing. Sophia story was told in fragments as when she was a child, then a young lass and then as a young adult. Surely something is happening here. This story that was told by Abso studio obviously was not completed hence the price, or Abso studios divided the game to make perhaps another entry? Is more to her story that is important?
I honestly think this was a mistake, because the game does feel like it had more and things were cut. But if that is true, they might have another story on their hands. I hope is one that above all makes sense and is well thought out. Because if not, this one simple entry is more than enough.
While Sophia’s story felt that way, I can say that her trajectory and finally was incredibly an unfortunate one. Even her relationship with Faro was incredibly touching and more interesting than with her friend Leni. Because here we see a father figure and one that throughout the game that even though he is not at all present but only in a short while, the impact is more felt. The dialog is more interesting because he is this father figure that although there is tension in the relationship and this discord that later in the game is one that impacted the whole dilemma deeply. That was the only moment in the story that I did felt something.
Every situation in this great endeavor of Sophia’s journey to this island, was one that really impacted the story to a wider issue of this plot, more so when this entry has one of the most incredible soundtracks I have heard in a game in recent years. Every scene was carried by an incredible soundtrack. I could say so much more, but truly the game is great minus the thing I did not like.

While Sophia’s story felt that way, I can say that her trajectory and finally was incredibly an unfortunate one. Even her relationship with Faro was incredibly touching and more interesting than with her friend Leni. Because here we see a father figure and one that throughout the game that even though he is not at all present but only in a short while, the impact is more felt. The dialog is more interesting because he is this father figure that although there is tension in the relationship and this discord that later in the game is one that impacted the whole dilemma deeply. That was the only moment in the story that I did felt something.
Every situation in this great endeavor of Sophia’s journey to this island, was one that really impacted the story to a wider issue of this plot, more so when this entry has one of the most incredible soundtracks I have heard in a game in recent years. Every scene was carried by an incredible soundtrack. I could say so much more, but truly the game is great minus the thing I did not like.

It's significantly shorter than A Plague Tale Requiem for the same price tag.
Story is pretty similar in a number of ways. It's also a bit inconsistent, or at least awkward. Character motivations aren't very clear. A number of questions remain unanswered. The way some characters appear along the way kinda defeats some of the feeling of discovery and mystery. Like, what's the point of having that very special key and go through all those challenges if so many other people have already been there, and so many more can just blow up the doors or go over the walls?
It suffers from common game design and writing clichés. Characters react to random stuff in an unnatural way. The handholding and insistence on explaining the gameplay is a bit irritating. Also, light puzzles again? How original. They are very easy, too.
That aside, the game is beautiful, it runs well, the worldbuilding is great, and there are some really awesome scenes. The music if very good overall. Some of the more survival-horror mechanics are interesting. Combat is not groundbreaking but still enjoyable. Platforming is OK, although very easy.
If you like dark narrative games like the previous Plague Tales, you should like this. Maybe wait for a sale if you think paying the same price as the previous game for 2/3 the length is too much.
Now for the nitpicking.
I had a couple of bugs, like characters getting stuck. Nothing a reload couldn't fix, and checkpoints are pretty close to each other.
Sometimes it's a bit hard to know what's worth exploring and what's not. It's always a problem with games that try to communicate a sense of urgency. On one hand, the game rewards you for exploring with weapons, trinkets and other collectibles. But on the other, it feels very silly to be wandering around looking for those when you're supposed to hurry.
