It gives so much Ratchet & Clank, Jak and Daxter, Sly Cooper, and Kingdom Hearts vibes. But it doesn’t feel like a copy of any of them. It takes that old-school feeling and does its own thing with it. Nostalgic feeling 10/10.
The combat is a 10/10 for me. It’s fast, smooth, and just really fun to play. I honestly didn’t expect the combat to have this much depth from a platformer, and it’s probably my favorite part of the game so far. (Even tho my most used attack would be probably the dash-hit lol)
The game is also really beautiful. There’s something about the art style and the world that just feels like a classic adventure game, but with modern graphics.
Oh and Cuckoo has the attitude of someone who definitely pays no rent :-)\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

The combat is a 7/10 for me when you attack it feels like there is no weight to the weapon the monsters just attack through your attacks. other then that It’s fast, smooth, and just really fun to play. I honestly didn’t expect the combat to have this much depth from a platformer, and it’s probably my favorite part of the game so far.

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tDuskfade was easily my most highly anticipated game this year, and I may have gone a biiiiit overboard by playing it for 17 hours straight on release day ehe 😅 But that's a testament to just how much of a blast it is! It feels like I'm playing a classic PS2 gem like Kingdom Hearts or Jak & Daxter, with a glimmering coat of paint. The story has been quite moving and honestly made me tear up at some points, it's heartfelt and teaches some meaningful lessons about loss and staying present. It runs remarkably well at high settings on my RTX 2060, I haven't faced a single stutter or graphical hiccup, as this game is incredibly well-optimized! I've been in awe at just how breathtaking the scenery is, especially in the underwater portions of the game, they really went above and beyond! It has such a distinct art style, and I wouldn't be surprised if it won "best art direction" at GOTY. The movement is fluid and a sheer blast to engage with, and the combat, while not quite on-par with KH (that's kinda hard to top honestly) is still dynamic enough that I've had a lotta fun with it. Plus, there are breakable objects around every corner that my destructive goblin brain greatly appreciates. I seriously couldn't put this game down, and I'm eager to suck the marrow from its bones until nothing remains!\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

The level design so far has been really good, bosses can be difficult even on Normal, they personally felt a little overtuned on Hard mode but I m ay just be bad. The characters have chatter but it's not overwhelming and the story, granted I only beat world 1, seems like it could be a strong one for what the game is.
Combat flows really nicely, parrying doesn't feel overwhelming difficult and it helps so much when you start getting used to it. It has a very Kingdom Hearts UI which I adore however that's sorta where that comparison ends. Overall this is a wonderfully priced and adorable Indie game.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

The game defiantly wears if inspirations on its sleeve. ratchet and clank, jak and daxter, kingdom hearts. you can see all the inspiration there but it fails to actually do any of the things that made those games so great.

There is no hit stun to combo thru, you just wait till the enemy is standing there waiting for its next time to attack then smack them a couple times. dodge away, then repeat till they are dead. You may look at my short play time and think maybe i didn't get the full experience, i didn't. i got the foundation of the combat, and its not a good foundation. Add as many new skills and gimmicks into that and it will still not be fun to play. Beyond the boring dance with enemies, the combat feels super ridged, The animations look fine, but don't feel fine. While i hope the studio can continue on to learn and improve, this game fails to hit any of the marks that would make it fun for me to play. The voice acting can be a little cringey and I wished there were more talking and not subtitle slides I have to read (picky point, still doesn't take away from the game), but the gameplay makes me feel like I'm playing Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. I cannot wait to 100% this one.

I could not be happier with the product we received in this game. if you are looking for a new game that captures that ps2 3D platformer nostalgia look no further. this game has scratched in itch i have been looking for a very long time. i can already see this as a title i return to multiple times. aesthetically pleasing, music and atmosphere are familiar yet new at the same time. environments feel different and truly satisfying to explore through. and for a platformer the combat is actually pretty in depth for this genre. at it's price point i couldn't recommend this game anymore already.

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI'm sure the people who worked on this game are very proud of this and must've worked very hard on it, but the end product is simply not good. Combat feels awful and floaty, level design is bland and basically just a series of easy jumps with no real challenge. There's a lot of effort that went into polishing the (admittedly nice looking) visuals but for a studio that claims to have such a reverence for PS2 games, they should know that era of gaming was all about tight fun gameplay more than shiny graphics. If anything, this feels closer to shovelware games of that era more than any of the classics it acts like it's inspired by.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t
