Overall it was fun to build on the lake, make a base and kill cannibals then decapitate them and use them as throphys. Sadly, when we got to the final boss fight, my friend didn't get to see the ending because he fell through the map... Overall it was a great adventure to get every item and defeat the boss. Sadly the game leaves you clueless, and without YouTube tutorials you are left to figure by yourself how to get to the boss. I think they should at least make objectives so that players who want to finish the game don't have to look at tutorials someplace else while playing the game.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

First off; while foundations are strong it sure could use a general overhaul for accesibility and what not. Have not and probably will not bother with single player but for a co-op game it really pushes its boundaries. I doubt they will update this game however if they ever reach for a remake, devs should push further with transportation such as sea-faring and maybe carts that can carry players. Overall its a very solid adventure game and would definitely recommend.

Ive had to look u many things and Im not even done my first playthrough yet. The game in my opinion is best played solo with friends its just a bit to easy for my liking. Your main objective, finding your son, becomes a whole lot more than you expected. Such a simple task turns into an unimaginable nightmare. The loneliness subconsciously pushes you to explore the terrain; you find wrecks, underwater caves, villages, weirds emblems - all sorts of unknown structures.
As many say: Don't jugde a book by it's cover. You start off with an ordinary plane crash, and really, and I mean really soon, you realise that you are not only playing a survival game, you're playing a story-deep horror game. There is much more to explore than you think.
This game has an amazing way to picture an inventory, unlike most survival game, The Forest does not have a grid, with HUD styles - it has an original way to shows collected items: On the floor, protected by a tarp. How they managed to make an inventory feel like an inventory will forever surprise me.

+ The horror aspect works pretty well, especially early in the game before you know what to fear and what is easy to deal with. I would say the two strongest contributing aspects are the sound design and the fact the game gets dark, as in literally it's hard to see anything at night and in caves even with a light source. You're often unsure of your surroundings, and waiting for sound queues as to where enemies might be. Nights are just as dangerous as the caves if not moreso, so you learn to respect the day-night cycle and the weather.
+ Survival is not too forgiving and not too hardcore. This isn't the type of survival game where you work your way up through multiple tiers of materials. Progression is part knowing the game mechanics, part the character getting stronger and more athletic, and part obtaining better gear. When it comes to surviving in the wild, it really is mostly a matter of game knowledge. The game doesn't tell you much directly, but the survival guide and experimentation with combining items, along with exploring the map, will gradually teach you how to survive and get stronger. For that reason I recommend playing the game blind instead of using a guide unless you get stuck.
+ While the game is initially tough, it's fair and actually forgiving in ways you may not expect. At least the first time you're downed, it's not a Game Over, in fact you get dragged to a location with goods you may not have found yourself, also serving as an introduction to the game's cave system. Crucially, while the caves are scary, once you clear a room of enemies it stays cleared. This is would be a much tougher and more aggravating game if it did not respect your progress in exploring the caves. Enemies are scary too but once you get used to their attack patterns, they're all quite beatable without being trivially easy (on Hard). Loot respawns frequently, so once you know where to find what you need and how to navigate the map, it becomes much easier.
+ Without spoiling anything, after dozens of hours of scrounging in the wilderness and in dark caves without any other sentient beings whatsoever aside from mutant cannibals, the more story-driven final stretch of the game is that much more impactful. The boss fight though is something I feel could've been left out without hurting the game.
- The cave system can get confusing, and the extreme levels of darkness certainly doesn't help. Expect to get lost and to backtrack quite a bit.
- There is some technical jank, most often with the player's hands, and enemies getting stuck on obstacles or behaving in possibly unintended ways: losing interest very quickly or tagging you and running away. Other times, they may bumrush you even when you're supposed to be hidden, mostly at night. Some of this may be intentional for these crazed mutants, but not the "getting stuck on rocks" part.

So multiplayer I do wish it could be better but the authenticity of it gets ruined by either kids or modders and I do wish language was a choice because you get put into servers with people who dont speak the language. And gameplay is more demanding when people are expecting you to lead the show instead of enjoying the game. Honestly when the right group of people come together it can be a great experience but its hard to find. That's the reason I decided to solo it out in single player because I couldn't take the game seriously otherwise.

Combat takes some getting used to you will die alot. gota be smart at first then its gets crazier and crazier because tougher cannibal variants and stronger enemy stops around day 22 though the rare Worm mutant can still begin appearing after day 40.
