The attention to detail is fantastic. Characters move, attack, and fight in ways that genuinely reflect their bending styles from the series. The presentation is excellent. Special attacks look like scenes ripped straight from the animated series. Sometimes I found myself losing matches because I was too busy admiring the effects instead of blocking.
Online play is mostly solid, though occasionally the connection enters the Spirit World without informing either player. The biggest compliment I can give this game is that it understands what made Avatar special. It's not just about throwing rocks, fire, water, and air at each other. It's about the characters, their rivalries, friendships, and personal journeys.

As someone who grew up watching Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, buying this game was easier than convincing Aang that running away isn't a valid strategy this time. For the first time ever, this game actually feels like a true Avatar game (yes, I played all the other old crappy Avatar games too)! Every match feels like an episode from the show. One second you're bending the elements like a spiritual master, the next you're getting combo’d into the wall and shouting “MY CABBAGES!”The attention to detail is fantastic. The core gameplay of each character feels fantastic, the Flow system is unique and really fun to interact with, and they all look great. The art is as close as it can be to the show while still having the clarity fighting games require. However it is missing some key features like Ranked and fully remappable controls (sucks badly for keyboard players). If I had to guess, the devs were likely pressured by Paramount to get the game out as close to the movie's release as possible, so they were forced to release it in this state. Given the passion they clearly put in the game, I don't believe they truly desired to ship the product in this condition (they likely intended an October release given that's when the polished animations for ASA and Nightmare Korra will be finished), and they have shown as much by stating all issues will be fixed in coming patches. Ultimately, if you want a fantastic fighter that stays true to the series, pick it up for sure! Just go into it knowing there are a couple of issues that will be dealt with in the coming months.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tAvatar Legends is one of the best fighting games i've ever played. It feels like a dream com true after waiting over a decade for a technical avatar fighting game. What isn't a dream come true is the rushed and unfinished product they gave us, along with scummy behavior from the publishers. Multiple characters are openly unfinished, with the rest of their animation scheduled for a later date. There's no spectator or ranked mode on launch, witch to be frank, is unacceptable for any modern fighting game. Hopefully Paramount gets their ♥♥♥♥ together, because the devs clearly put a lot of work and love into this game.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

- First and foremost, false advertising. The game was promoted as having Ranked Mode and such, which while is a feature I do not care for, still doesn't change the fact that the game was promoted as having it and released without it.
- Secondly, voice lines randomly cut off during gameplay, but only in specific modes like combo trials. Which brings me to the next point: the "demo" video sometimes messes up the combos it's trying to demonstrate, which... I don't need to explain why that's bad.
- Thirdly... How come we don't so much as have difficulty settings for what little offline content is actually there? This is a very basic thing that even barebones home ports of arcade titles from the 90's had!
- Fourth... 3 characters strangely did not have a trailer before launch, Ozai, as well as Avatar State Aang and Korra. Now we know why, it's because they were outright not finished in time, and now the roadmap is advertising their completion as something casual like bug fixes or balance adjustments, even though needing to mention that characters need "additional sprites and animations" post launch is kind of silly.
- Fifth - No graphic settings, or key binding on keyboard. Certain button shortcuts don't even work properly. In order to do EX Special Moves, you must press X + A + B simultaneously, which isn't the most intuitive thing to do on a controller in such a fast paced game. The solution would be to assign that button combination to a single button, right? Wrong. If you go and use that shortcut mid combo, it almost always triggers Super Move if you have enough meter for it, even though Super Moves are done with a quarter circle forward motion and the aforementioned button combination. Was this even tested?
- I also have to mention that this game is a prety good example of why I never want to pre-order anything again, I can only access the character colours, but not the Appa skin or the ability to vote for the character pass. While I did not buy the deluxe content, others have complained that what they payed for is also missing.
The wording on the EULA, although more direct and honest than most, is also deeply concerning, as it asserts that you can just have the game taken away from you whenever the publisher so desires and claiming you do not have the ability to do anything about it, should that happen. Sounds more like we payed that one stingy rich friend in the playground to play with his toys and he'll just take them back in the middle of the play session if he decides you're a meanie head and that he doesn't like you anymore. How nice.
The developers' nonchalant attitude about the whole ordeal also does not serve to ease the tensions at all. If anything, it makes this whole situation feel planned in some way. It's clear that the game needed a couple more months of development time before launch.

I’ve waited a long time for a game adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra with my favorite character "Toph Beifong".

The animations for characters ranging from Toph, Kyoshi, Aang, Zuko, and Katara to Korra are incredibly detailed, reflecting the real-world martial arts styles that serve as the foundation for "bending" in the show. The combat system relies on four main buttons making it easy to learn yet offers a high skill ceiling and complex combo execution that makes it hard to master.

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI'm very sad to leave a negative review, because I love the gameplay and I really want it to succeed, but there's a lot of issues. Really small cast of characters, with there being clear favoritism in terms of polish. I've heard the game was rushed to be released along with the movie, and I believe it. Ozai feels completely unfinished, his animations are very stiff, like he has in-between frames missing. The cast should've probably had at least 5 more characters on release, it feels like a lot of the DLC characters were going to be base roster but they were forced to rush out the game. Like, in what world does it make sense for Kuvira and Amon to be DLC?
The voice acting is not great, though I guess I'm spoiled by anime games usually getting the OG voice actors instead of hiring people to do impressions, Still, there ARE some great ones like Azula and Toph, but a majority are mediocre, and a few are really really bad (Ozai). The settings are extremely poorly made, you can't even change your movement keys. You have to open up the game files and change them manually, which while not that difficult, is not something you should have to do for a game in 2026. We're also missing ranked and lobbies, which iirc they promised on release. At least ranked.
Finally, the story is just horrible. It's funny at times, but it's like a bad fanfiction with a slightly higher budget. Azula especially got horribly ripped to pieces by the story, for some ungodly reason they seem to imply Azula x Korra heavily, with lines like "The two of us, ruling the world. Together.", which besides just being a stupid and awful crackship, feels crazily out of character for Azula. They also handle her mental illness really strangely, like it seems like they're gonna dive into it, but then "resolve" it and just have a throwaway line about her being a mental kaleidoscope.
In conclusion, this is a great fighting game, fantastic even, but it has a lot, a LOT of small flaws that add up to make it a shakey product with a pretty bad release. I'm very sad about that, because this game has a lot of potential, but I'm worried that the release will harm its image and longevity.
