\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tAs much as I enjoyed it I cant recommend it in its current state, its still a very short game with most of your time spent gathering resources, and hitting a brick wall that says "BETA CONTENT DONE" is kind of disheartening. sure you could stock pile resources, and complete achievements. but the current area as it stands is very small overall.
Also upgrades within the area are easy to miss and end up causing you to go on constant ice and oxygen runs and instead of feeling progression despite only playing 9 hours, there were times i felt like i was running around in a circle getting nothing done.
Regardless I'm looking forward to _when_ the game reaches 1.0 and will revisit this review when it reaches that point.

That said, the mechanic is still fun.

There is only one chapter, maybe even incomplete, which equals to mostly to content known from demo.
The map area is larger and distances are longer to fly over to, but the number op POIs is the same, or even less.
Crafting of advanced resources are locked, you can only pick up some of them, and all gear in locked at level 1.
IMHO game has different tone than demo or previous game.
Demo was packed with POIs, there was constantly something to do, with harsh but fair survival elements, which kept the game interesting.
In "full game" the plot kinda struggles to follow itself, the funny banter between NPCs quickly dies out after first hour or so.
Here, in Breathedge 2, I'm playing on Standard (which is highest difficulty for first playthough), still it's very easy and chill game, and does not really have that survival edge known from the first game. You also start with 10 minutes oxygen tank.
Only had some trouble with food early on for few hours, but that's no longer a problem, after I relized Devs changed mechanic how you gather food since demo.
IMHO it's might be too easy now, but then again you don't have gear known from the first part that would allow you to explore freely the whole map.
In general I don't like sequels that kinda make your character to forget every tech he learned before for the sake of having "something" to upgrade.
The main missions are not well explained and why you need to do something. Side quest are different story, they were always kind of puzzles.
But main quest line in kinda meh, there isn't even a proper intro. While the introductory cutscene with Eagles is funny and cool, it does very little to draw a setting or agenda for the game. If you haven't played the first game you will be complicatedly lost on the plot here.
With all discounts I got it for $15, so it's fair price even for a short new game, but after playing the previous part this is a disappointment, and honestly if Devs didn't have anything more than demo content, they should just postpone the launch to Early Access.
I hope this game will really take off and match its potential and content wise the previous game, but right now it doesn't have a good outlook.

The fact that my strategy became just letting myself die from hunger instead of wasting the stupid amount of time it takes to make a nutrient pack that gives me +19. This has got to be fixed because it's just dumb.
I'm not gonna spend 15 minutes harvesting rotten apples to get +40 hunger that I just have to use to sleep to get +23 rest and be starving again.

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tExcellent, this game is a upgrade from the previous one in every way, oxygen is no longer a nuisance, it's easier to pick things in space, your things don't break after using it 10 times, the humor from the very first moment is dry, absurd and aggressive (in which is something i really like, the devs nailed it) and it's no longer a nuisance to return to your safe station either as you almost always have something to do in them.
There is also innovation when it comes to boss fights, you do things you don't do on any other games, and the animations of the things in the game are really well animated, you can tell that the devs placed a lot of effort into doing and releasing this early access.
And the exploration... it's always interesting to find and mess with new things as you're exploring, it scratches that itch i have for exploration games.
As for the story? they improve upon the first one and makes you question over and over how the hell did that dystopia even got to the point it got to begin with, it's awesome, takes some very creative devs to do that.

Then as I'm finishing up what I thought was Chapter 1, I realized I have already fought this exact boss battle before. Was this a remake of the first Breathedge? Did I previously play a demo to this point? I don't mind doing a part of a game twice. But, when Chapter 1 ends and there is nothing left to do... What?! That is it? You just launched the game and it isn't any further along... I thought it was a joke. Like... this is where the demo left off and we are going to make that a gag in this game... but the joke was, that is the end of the game. such a let down.

The new core mechanics are extremely fun to play around with, and the world, alongside its characters, feels a level more in depth.
From what the universe of Breathedge seems to offer, I'm really surprised with the lack of conversation around the game from people who are really into survival games? I find that these games, and especially Breathedge 2, introduce so many new, unique and creative aspects to the survival genre that it really feels like, at least to me, that these titles are deserving of some more recognition.
And regarding the humor of the game, since it is such a core part of this franchises identity. I myself don't really enjoy the crude and raunchy sort of comedy that is recurringly implemented within both of these games. As someone who rarely finds much comedy humorous, I can't really say whether or not it is great. I'm just unable to say so since it simply isn't my cup of tea. However, I'm sure that there would be a large number of people who would enjoy it.
With all that being said, I still hope that there could be some further implemented add-ons, patches, or updates to the game. For example, adding an option to disable or filter lewd imagery or references within the game (specifically at that one part of the map, iykyk).
Anyways, I'm super excited with where the continued development of this game goes and hope that it gets all the spotlight that it deserves 👍

Still it has different puzzles (and a few familiar ones), so I enjoyed it enough to run through two times before going back to another game I was all ready playing.
