The first, is that the game does what it set out to do. It creates a survivalistic style of gameplay with horror elements and it’s not cringey, badly designed or awful.
And the second reason is that I can see a lot of potential for a really interesting and fun game somewhere down the road.
Now honestly and obviously the game is in early access which means bugs, glitches, unfinished content and what not. But surprisingly I didn’t experience a whole lot of bugs or glitches when I played. It actually ran rather smoothly. And also the gameplay was actually fun and interesting and well designed.
I do have a few issues with the user interface, sound quality and the graphics. It looks like crap, sounds like crap, and that user interface is awful.
But pretty much everything else in this game was really well designed. I especially like the creature designs.
And the fact that one day it’ll have optimized multiplayer really appeals to me as well.
So if you’re interested then it should already be worth checking out. Now if you're only interested cuz you’re gonna play with a friend I’d suggest adding it to your wishlist until they get the multiplayer more “finished”.
But honestly overall I liked it and thought it was interesting enough. The rest is up to you..

Especially if you go into it knowing its EARLY ACCESS. Yes there is some bugs, yes it lacks polish, but so far i think its been great. Playing on normal difficulty with one other person it has been just fine. We only died 2 total and it was just simply not being prepared and messing around with something we probably shouldn't have messed with. I like the upgrade system, the environment and the way it, in my opinion, feels like a cross of once human and death stranding. Both of which i did love. So for now yeah absolutely buy it if your willing to accept that its and unfished project and willing to provide feedback to help them shape the game. I've been waiting since it was available to Wishlist and I'm not disappointed so far. My only biggest gripe is that the movement feels weird like im getting caught on something sometimes but it could be my keyboard too not sure.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Fellow game developer experts, do you know that games such as Vampire Survivors and Getting Over It also used assets to build their games? That AAA studios also use and manipulate store brought assets? Do you know music producers use presets from instruments? That chefs do not make their own eggs? That builders don't kneed their cement into bricks? If we replaced all the cells in our bodies one by one, would we still be ourselves at the end? Should we be bothering ourselves with such questions? Ladies and gentlemen, are we all, NOT GAMERS????
With this point out of the way, the game is fun enough for me to rate it positively. I feel like I am playing Half-Life mixed with the old S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games - where surviving janky combat encounters can be a large part of the game. There is a skill leveling system, crafting and building, survival mechanics, lore scattered in notes, unique and interesting encounters such as needing to use fire or water to nullify fire or acid, boss fights, the AI of monsters is actually intelligent - their pathing towards you and behaviour to switch between ranged, melee, jumping towards you, encumbering you has been implemented very well. I am impressed this works on my Legion GO with Bazzite installed lmao.
However, yes there is jankiness. I have been stuck in parts of the level before. My weapons have missed especially the axe on the doglike monsters. The game does need some work, and developers seem to be releasing updates. I like it enough to want to keep playing. Mostly recommended!!!!!!!!!!!\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

To the game development experts of steam reviews. If you are to label a game an 'asset flip' you should be sure that's what it is. An asset flip means that it has been completely thrown together from either free or store brought assets. That means EVERYTHING in the game is store brought, reused from previous games, or free. So the entire map, coding, music, sound effects, story, collectables, everything has been thrown into a game with little effort, with the effort to make a quick profit. I would be a shill or a fool to defend a game if it was in this state. There is a clear distinction to make between this game and an asset flip. \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI don't usually write reviews but decided to write a review based on the fact that people have written negative reviews based off of jank and bugs. Its an EARLY ACCESS GAME! Like really I don't understand why people complain about small bugs in early access games. The bugs are not game breaking at all. The game runs smoothly for the most part and the jank is in my opinion welcomed. Growing up with games back in the day made me enjoy and embrace the jank to an extent when it doesn't get in the way. I also want to point out that this game FEELS like an older game which isn't a bad thing for me. Easiest comparison would be half life. This game has me hooked with its unique world and makes me want to hop in and keep playing. I am also aware this is an asset flip game but it's still fun nonetheless.
On another note Devs please don't make me regret standing up for the game like I have with others and end up making some excuse to run and never finish the game. I truly believe this game can become something special.
Some things I think can use some improvement:
- When picking up movable items it would be nice to have a way to adjust its distance to the player as it can be a pain to place it where you want it when it covering a majority of the screen.
- Enemy sound effects seem to be too loud to and not accurate to where they are causing me to think an enemy was nearby only to realize that they were stuck somewhere further away.
- This is not an issue but an idea rather, maybe adding a little more danger to the night time cause from what I seen it feels the same and it would add more of a meaning to the sleeping mechanic.
- Enemy Ai can use some improvement to their path tracing since losing them by climbing something higher seems to just make them walk in whatever you are standing on.
- It would be cool if they had a decent sound detection state that would allow them to hear the player or react to all my missed bolts as well lol making it a little more tense when missing.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

I haven't played much of this game since it released but I tried it out in testing and hoped it would improve. You get delayed axe hits, delayed enemy attacks as if you were playing turn based vs open world fps. The video makes the game look good but it’s just a cheap asset flip of other open world survival games such as Outbreak Island and the many other games in the genre. I really hope the game makes a turn for the best but at the current price it’s not worth it. If you want a complete or a better early access game look somewhere else. You don't need the full refund window to realize the game is not just early acess but far far from finished. But at least the ambience of a horror game is good even if the actual survial elements are way worse than much older survival games like rust.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tfinished the game in under 6 hours on medium. there was a bug in the last dungeon where i could loot shotgun shells from one pack over and over again. the 200 or so shells i looted really helped in the last two fights, otherwise i maybe would have needed to farm mets and search for bullets.
what i like about the game was the atmosphere and monster design. right from the getgo there is the female narator whom is great and this giant whale flying over my head, which just soaked me right in.
so the base of the game is cool af, but in the end i felt dissapointet, because it always felt like it never really lifted its feet of the ground.
it was very short and after the last fight i just thought "wow just over?" i never build a base, never grew food or metals in a real way. i thought "okay when is the game starting? when is the world really opening up?" these cool zombie soldiers, the whale, the fyling jellyfishs, why are they here? whats going on in the world? the experiments? other humans? the narator? yatayatayata
i thought i would ride this train for miles on end, build my base on it and have adventure after adventure.
like in theory. i know its early access. but i also paid 20 bucks.
20 bucks for 6 hours or a burger with fries in 5 minutes
it has potential and the devs did a great job on a lot of things,
if they improve the story, give more insentive to explore and build, really open up the world and make it bigger, somehow maybe improve the graphics, i will definetly not regret the 20 bucks and might never order fast food again.

This game was added to my wishlist about 2 years ago, i bought it day 1, and even within hours of release I can tell you 1, it's a very fun game, 2, as far as early access goes this is probably in the top 10 smoothest releases into early access that i've played, and i have probably 200 to 300 steam games, most of which went into early access and then either never left, or took actual years to fully release, 3, this game lives up to every expectation i had for it, and again, it is early access, day 1, so if you're going to complain about bugs keep that in mind, and realize that posting a negative review hurts the developers and pushes thier game down, so if this is because you have a bad pc, dont know how to optimize settings, or can't handle minor bugs in an EARLY ACCESS GAME that has been out for less than even a week, maybe think twice about posting reviews\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Yes, I have fallen through the map once, found that I didn't like the reach of the zombies when fighting them with the axe and dealing with the inventory in the chests is a bit of a problem but hey, I'm having a blast. It is fun the monsters are crazy for the time i spent with it. the cross bow sucks but then i found out you have a upgrade system. I played Project Mist for 6.4 hours in multiplayer beta with a friend over two days.
I genuinely love being a beta tester and this game has real potential. The core loop is enjoyable the atmosphere is nice and there is clearly a lot of ambition here. Even with the bugs we encountered I still wanted to keep playing. That says a lot.
That being said we did run into some significant issues. The most frustrating were constant reloading desync problems especially with storage boxes and storage boxes completely disappearing after saving and reloading. These made progression feel unreliable at times.
There is also some typical early access jank. Footsteps are noticeably loud with no individual volume sliders making them hard to manage without turning everything down. The game is also very dark in many areas. There is a brightness control but even at maximum it does not get bright enough. Additionally there are constant monster sounds that play from unknown directions. I often heard them clearly but could not see where they were coming from which felt disorienting. Tree chopping also feels and sounds strange. It is very loud and the animation feedback feels off.
Despite these issues the fun we had far outweighed the problems. The game has a solid foundation and a lot of room to grow. It is not trying to be Hunt Showdown or Arc Raiders and that is perfectly fine. It is carving out its own identity.
I am stepping away for now to let the developers cook but I will definitely be back once things are more stable. Project Mist is worth keeping an eye on.
