Doing romance targets questline, hit quest that required advancing another characters questline to a certain point first. Fine whatever. Maxed that characters hearts, did their questline in its entirety, did all their events, all while maxing romance targets hearts. Romance targets quest won't trigger. \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tIt's difficult for me to decide whether I recommend this game or not. Initially I was going to give a negative review but when the first update after 1.0 came out, it gave me hope that over time this game will improve.
Farming. 10/10 LOVE IT. It hit the spot. Kinda typical for any farming game, but I wouldn't ask for more because it's perfect enough for me. I love the unique aspect of using your yokai forms to till and water crops. The planting scarecrow is a BLESSING. Wish it could collect the fully grown crops but it's alright. Yuki-Onna's crop plot is also great tho I wished there was another one, felt like 6 crops is too small. 10/10
Fishing. 7/10 Kinda unmemorable for me. I usually love a good fishing mini game in any games that I play but this one isn't hitting it. Though I feel like lots can disagree on this. I really love the fish traps so I don't have to fish and just collect the loot the next day. Only thing I wish added was an indicator on how far I can throw my cast.
Main Quest and Storyline 6/10.
I really love the lore of the game and how they presented it. But there were inconsistencies with the story since there were side quests that relied on the main quest. Firstly I didn't know I had to increase relationship with certain characters in order to progress the main story which is something I don't like. Yohji's story first came to mind. His cutscenes are mostly comments from the main quest, But I finished the main quest before his cutscenes ever popped up. So he was like, apologizing to the player for being fooled by kababa and I was like, yeah I defeated the fox already you're kinda late there buddy. Another is the reveal of Anna's identity. It wasn't revealed yet to me who she was until Musashi's cutscene where Kincho came in to the casino and said WHERE'S MY SISTER. And then Anna's cutscene came in few days later and she revealed she was a tanuki. A lot of these instances happened during my playthrough but those two were the ones I remembered the most.
Side Quests and Dialogues. 4/10 Had to put this separately. I love the range of beautiful bachelors and bachelorettes in the game. I find it cute that when you fully maxed out your relationship with them they develop a fullblown crush on you. Some characters have interesting personalities based on how they spoke, but most kind of sound the same. They all sound nice which is... nice... but I would want much more interesting conversations that show who they really are. I was kind of disappointed when I met Kincho. He gave off cunning leader vibes, someone whom you shouldn't trust the first time. And then next thing you know he became a sad boy and kinda political(?) based on his dialogue alone. Like when giving gifts, I don't want him to say that I am improving the relationship between both our clans, but I'd want him to respond in a cunning and almost flirtatious way, the same way his character profile is giving. I got excited when Uwabami popped up, he seemed to be the angry, serious type the first time he came into the island. Someone who doesn't trust you and has his walls up high. but few days after he came his first cutscene happened that showed his soft side and that was waaay too soon for me. In summary, I just want variety other than friendly faces. Other than that, I really appreciate that everyday, there are two randomized fetch quests from random people that give you more opportunity to raise relationships with them and earn money.
Animation and VFX. 5/10 This might come too technical, this is just coming from me who worked in General 3D and VFX for video games. So I can understand it may come too nitpicky but I hope it may help in some way. There's a lack in player animation that gave this game the early access vibe despite it being already fully released. First thing I noticed is that there is only two running animation, there is no side movement (where the player looks forward and moves to the side) which is really helpful during fighting. When I move around a lot the player just look like she's sliding around because she's just using the same animation. Second is the fighting. It's not that satisfying, and It's probably because the hits don't match with how many times I press the attack button. Like I press 2 times, why does my character do 3 attack animations. I click once, it attacks once, I hit twice, the second attack does two attacks. Which if I'm moving around a lot it's difficult to time. Like, I need to dodge immediately but I have to wait for the animation to finish before I hit dash so I get hit instead. ALSO Why does the Tengu carry a weapon when it doesn't even fight??? WHY???
As for VFX, only reason why I'm mentioning this in the first place is because of the fire VFX where you hit it with water it just.. disappears. I'd expect it to grow smaller and then transition to smoke which is very simple to do considering that this game is made in Unity, bbbuutttt I'm getting too nitpicky here already. Fire barely seems to pop up in the whole game anyway except for that one quest and that one area in the ruins.
Customization. Waiting for more updates/10 There's a Lack of clothes in Ms Ama's store. But I assume there will be more based on Seikyu's Roadmap so I'm excited for that. I'm not a fan of the results when I dye clothes. It's not accurate since you only chance the hue, saturation and luminosity. Like I want some clothes to be black, but if the clothes is originally yellow, the clothes just turn to dark yellow. It's hard to obtain pure whites, greys and blacks unless you know color theory, so to "remove" the yellow, you change the hue to blue and bump up the saturation a bit and hope it looks black when you wear it. I also hope that they add much more options like ribbons can be a different color etc.
Others. I truly believe this game can be as great as other amazing farming games and I do have high hopes for its future. And just like any other games, I hope the developers are open for modding. I can see myself playing this game over and over again with different characters and pursuing other bachelors/bachelorettes. But as of now the only thing I can say for players who want to try this game out is... not now, wait a little bit longer after a few more updates.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

There's also the AI allegations, and while there's a speedpaint playlist featuring some portraits, it's hard to shake the suspicion when Nyotengu - a romance candidate and one of the first characters you encounter - has her tattoo on different sides between her portrait and model. The store page even features a screenshot showing both at the same time! I get mistakes happen, but the fact it was still present in the 1.0 release is strange and disappointing.

I highly recommend finding an artist that can redraw the character portraits to match the aesthetic of the game models; otherwise you're going to have to deal with continued complaints. I find the level design is a bit awkward, with buildings placed haphazardly and creating lots of odd back areas that look out of place. \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tWhen I first got the game and loaded in I was already put off. I tried to give it time, just like reading a book, maybe it needed a moment to settle. By the time I decided I didn't really like it, it was too late to return.
THE GOOD:
This is a farming sim with a twist. It does get you out of that regular idea if you're burning out on it. The story is interesting, I want to dive deeper into it. The quests are quick and easy. Some of the character art is gorgeous. I like being able to have ranch animals, although the choice of some of the animals is strange.

The game feels completely underdeveloped. It's actually so flat and lifeless. The art style has inconsistences. The animation honestly gives 2000s. The map can be confusing, especially with random parts being blocked off. The relationships with the villagers are so shallow and straight to the point. It doesn't feel like there's any difficulty in the battle progression as you level to be honest. Not to mention the combat and battle has no skill whatsoever. The story is choppy. The story will develop, but the game won't show the results of the development. I could go on...like mining with a katana.

I didn't like how empty the world was outside of the town though, and the sound design for watering and planting is...grating. It's EXTREMELY genshin coded with most animations, obviously the scenery too, but I was already aware of that from the trailer and stuff. The story felt...short. It's also a huge headache to get money in the game, but maybe there are secret money making ways I'm unaware of, unsure. But, I put all that aside cause I genuinely enjoyed the game. But, the more I played, the more the red flags kept popping up.
The characters are boring, not much depth to most of them aside from maybe Kincho. A lot of the mysteries were also spoiled for me cause the models just weren't loading correctly for me. I'm disappointed by a lot of the dialogue with characters as well, as they mostly just repeat phrases or conversations. Especially the 3 newcomers later in the story. The animations for things like hugging and kissing also needs work. I would much rather be hugged than worry the person is about to suplex me. I would also prefer it to look like I'm getting kissed by someone instead of a robot that leans forward, tilts their head, and then leans back, with their eyes fully open. The ones that do have proper animations are EXTREMELY stiff, unnatural, and awkward. The animation issues also extend to the animals. I think the devs need to look at how a dog's or cat's legs work. And/or how a fox jumps.
I was also disappointed when I clicked on "I would like to get to know you better" option, expecting to ask about their day or about them. The only options are to ask for a hug and/or a kiss.

It feels like a lot of the characters' stories are incomplete. What do you mean we don't have to look for Sasaki's scales and we never get to see his Yokai form?????
There was a point in the story where the town is on fire, so one might expect the music to pick up or something to show urgency. Nope. Same music as if nothing happened. It was very jarring and ruined the mood.
The fox form looks cursed and eternally concerned. I think they were trying to make it the 'special one' with animated eyes and stuff, but omg it looks...uncanny. The dark fox is probably supposed to look spooky in the dreams, but he just looks goofy.
Random note: I HATE how the red pandas walk on two legs.

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tIt's a good and clearly lower budget game inspired by your favourites such as Stardew Valley. It reminded me a lot of Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma. I must say, overall, Azuma was a much better game, but it does come from a bigger studio. This game is clunky - the combat took me a long time to get used to, and initially I regretted picking the "Recommended" more with balanced combat/story over the story-only version. The yokai forms are interesting but could be more exciting and useful. There are a lot of things that this game doesn't explain well at all and you have to learn by trial and error. A lot of NPC interactions seem random or sudden, practically accidentally triggered (e.g. the game doesn't tell you that it wants you to speak to a specific person in specific time condition set in order to trigger a quest).
HOWEVER. Given all of that, I still enjoyed the main story, although I hope they add more because it goes a lot too quick. I basically finished main quest halfway through Summer of year 1 :(\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

When writing reviews for games, I typically try to put in an honest 40 hours, but I just don't have the patience needed for this one right now. I also like to give you "the good, bad, and the ugly" so here it is:
The good: The overworld is stunningly beautiful, and the romanceable characters are genuinely attractive. Storytelling is deep, and I appreciate the Japanese-themed mythology and magic. Instead of using farm tools, you will transform into varying animals and yokai (spirits) to do the farm work. Has a very similar feel to Stardew, but with modern graphics.
The bad: FISHING. Why is fishing so difficult?! Even when I think I've got it, I don't! Fishing is always my number one source of income in a farming or survival game, and this time it's just too frustrating for me. Also, I personally wish that yokai taking human form would be more humanoid, I dislike furries in general, so this one kind of gave me the ick, but not enough to quit the game. You may not feel the same way, considering they're still very well-designed even if I personally don't want to fall for a dog-faced girl, or her brother who was WIERDLY into me from the start. As I said before, furries don't bother everyone, but it's not my thing personally. The fishing bothered me more than the animal-people hybrids if I'm being honest.
The UGLY: Janky player motion, and needlessly repetitive sounds was really the deal breaker for me. Most games at least try to vary the pitch or tone of the voice slightly so you aren't making the same exact noise every time you use an action. This game will have you making the same exact boar-squealing every time you make an action in boar form, and I just can't, it gives me a headache in like 5 consecutive squeals. As for the jank, the player's character does not act like they're interacting with the world around them, they move like ps2 graphics, janky as heck, like they're not actually there but superimposed. flailing about in the air as they move across the surface, never touching the ground on a slope for example because the player's body is behaving like they're walking on a level surface. I get that the dev-team was small, but the jankiness was such a mood killer. Can't really fight well if your character doesn't respond the way you'd expect them to.
So, if you can get past the bad and ugly parts, and enjoy games like Stardew Valley, this would truly be an incredible game for you, which is why I feel it's such a shame to not recommend this game/write a positive review, but I must be honest, all things considered it just didn't grab me like I thought it would, so I can't recommend this game in earnest even if it has the potential to be great for someone else.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Though I do have several things I would like to see updated: you go through the trouble of having to craft a large bed and stuff for your spouse to get married. Then afterwards they sleep in a separate room and you can't sleep in the same bed (this appears to have been updated recently), but you can still have sleepover dates and share a bed, but the dialogue is the same as if you were dating. Additional dialogue would be nice as well. The fox underground can be very confusing at times and the map appears very hard to understand for me.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

You have a really good romance options and the have some fun characters to meet up with during your adventures. Just like other games, it ain't perfect so you may get stuck in a few areas but you can always get unstuck in the menu screen. (It's really rare to get stuck). One thing I would love to see in future updates would be voice acting or starting your own family, (having children). I love the themes and play style. it has an open world for you to explore and plays much like Coral Island and Stardew with its very own play style and Art. I like that they did something different and stood to that Idea. They did not want a copy or a parody they wanted thier own game.
I have been playing this on and off due to personal life events but I always come back. I like seeing what is new and love the terrain.
(when I say They i mean the Team in whole. everyone had to play a part and have ideas for the game. This is so expansive for its style and gameplay there is no way not one person contributed.)

The thing I love most is that you can transform into different animals like a boar that helps you with plowing your garden and even with mining, cutting trees, and fighting.
