It's really weird and unnatural to have the romance dialogues available for complete strangers, people don't actually have real dialogue when you interact with them, and I find myself struggling to fill the day with activities. Typically in this sort of game, there is some strong point-- either the farming, the combat, the crafting, or the characters and story, but in this game all of those things feel incredibly superficial and underdeveloped. Even simple things like picking up objects is made awkward by your fox sister always following you and standing where you look, so the game will think you just want to speak with her.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

I grabbed this game on a whim because I was itching to play a farming sim, and thought "Well this looks like it will be fine, I guess I'll give it a shot." I wasn't really expecting much, as it was the developer's second game.
What I wasn't ready for was the obvious amount of love that went into this game. The character designs, the artwork, and especially the dialogue and storytelling. Each character feels unique and like they have their own goals, their own story that they're working on, regardless of the main character (which is a good thing, it makes them feel more unique and alive!). I haven't even gotten to romancing someone yet because I'm just trying to explore and meet everyone. Everyone feels like they have a "secret" and I want to get to know them better to figure it out. I can already tell I'll be doing multiple saves so I can try romancing different characters.
The game isn't perfect, but it's a small indie dev team putting in a LOT of work, and it's early access. They've been putting out bug fixes, adjusting character designs, and improving areas that are a little "rougher" around the edges. The 'worst' of that is sometimes there is a graphical glitch, and some of the animations aren't the smoothest in the world, but nothing that breaks the game or makes it unplayable by a long shot. Considering this is only the second game made by this team, and their first in a 3D environment, I'm genuinely impressed.
But underneath the rougher edges is a game that's got real heart. I'm genuinely so invested in the overall storyline, and each character's storyline, that I had to tell myself to slow down so I could start a new save when 1.0 comes out in a few days.

And the romantic options (both male and female) are attractive with rich story backgrounds. My only very small complaint is the lack of customization on your characters face and clothing options. - The town is mostly empty. I rarely see people walk in it... they often just stand? Staring at walls???
- NPC teleport around the map a lot
- Your farm is SO far away from the town, it takes a while walking the distance. There's quick travel. The distances lead you to teleport everywhere, which in turn means you spent a lot of time in loading screens
- The world map feels very MMO like. Empty spaces, the same enemies everywhere
- Quests and things you need to do, to progress, lack proper explanations and sometimes pointers. It will happen that you don't know what to do or where to go
- I know that you can move in water later on, but at the start if you jump into a body of water you're just teleported out with no explanation
- In the "mines" you'll get to spots where you obviously need some kinda skill you don't have. It's not explained how to get it. You just stand there. Foolishly
- You can only leave the mines by teleporting out, I did not realise this for a long time, as it wasn't explained
- There's a lot of sound effects missing; many animations happen without sounds and you sometimes walk in an odd kind of silence
- The controls are clunky and something you'll have to get used to
- The game takes strong inspiration from Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma. But its less than RF:GOA and if you played the RF game, you do feel where this one lacks

I listened to the reviews and pressed on but I came across soft locks, npcs who get lost, the dungeon mechanics are...really unintuitive, dialogue is really strange and the way the relationship system works is just odd and the sequence of events makes absolutely no sense. A lot of folks said that there is a lot to do in this game, but there really isn't. This needed way more time in the oven and I feel a bit dumb for believing in these reviews, was really hoping for an alternative to Guardians of Azuma cause that game didn't click with me either. Can't even refund either cause I pushed for too long.

I don't normally find myself enjoying the relationship aspect this much, but the townsfolk are well imagined and a joy to interact with. 4. The game allows players to freely place decorations and tools such as furnaces, yet there is no alignment or snapping system to help keep everything organized and visually appealing.

I find the character interactions a bit weird, given there isn't much day to day dialogue as in most games. You're given an option to hug and kiss a character at a certain hearts percentages but it seems to escalate too quickly. There are also some weird decisions with story progression.
The world feels a bit empty and doesn't feel completely fleshed out. There's also a huge issue with NPCs not coming out of houses, or having issues with quests not working as they should. There's also a lot of camera and clipping issues with characters.
I do think some of the character interactions are cute, and I do like the base idea of the game. I'm a sucker for Yokai and folklore. Pettings animals is really fun, and I love that they added that in. Farming isn't too bad either. The forms are at least a neat take on the normal farming genre.

I do think the game has some serious potential but as it stands I can't recommend it in it's current state, at least until some of the game progressing bugs get fixed.

It's very Rune Factory-ish, which is my preferance when it comes to "farming" games. And this game brought something a bit new to the table with the Yokai forms that actually feel good to play.
I like the character diversity and that you actually have some more mature options like Leon, or more actual fantasy like designs like Uwabami.
The main story is intriguing enough and I love that you have the option to work part time in some places in case you feel too lazy to go fishing yourself but want to raise your fishing level.
But I can't recommend the game in the state it's in right now with good conscience.
It's still very much clunky in all areas. The map needs polish, sound seems to be missing from some effects in scenes entirely, some animations look like placeholders, and the characters overall need more life breathed into them, they don't really do much throughout the day to make them feel like people. It's weird that you see romance options before you even start the romance. The conversations are also very lackluster. You can hug someone if you're friends, but the character doesn't even really aknowledge it, and they generally don't have much to say.
Controller also still feels a bit wonky in menus, and some controls are unintuitive, like descending with the Slime form unterwater. But that's mostly nitpicking in my eyes.
Performance is also terrible if playing on high graphic settings, which should not be an issue with my PC in a game like this. It runs smoothly on mid settings, though, at least.
The "farming" part of the game has similar issues I have with many farming games. Processing and ranching.
I started hating being able to process the crops in games because it's absolutely pointless. You have a million options that take forever, only to result in a product you can sell for a tiny amount more than the raw veggie. I just don't see the point.
My issue with ranching is that I don't understand why it's even there. You already have the option to tame enemies with your Fox form, which feels at least unique. Additionally taking care of chickens and whatnot feels always more like a chore than fun to me. I would've preferred if they went all in on the monster taming mechanic instead.
The game has an overall solid foundation, but right now I hope the devs focus on polishing what they already have instead of adding more unpolished content to the game. It needs it badly.

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tIt's still pretty early game but there's a huge thing I've noticed and its the lack of background noise? IDK what to call it. Like your character barely makes any noise. I think it's her humming when I'm fishing, but it could be Kon, I am unsure. There's no "hiyah" or "ahh" when she fights, no grunting. The town is so quiet. There's footsteps for the other NPCs but that's it. Also, there are so many dogs and cats, some of whom are usually conspiring together in some corner, but no noise. I just got chicken, so I'll see if that makes any noise.
I will say that there is bird song in the morning, but that's actually over done and also doesn't last very long. Maybe other people who play will notice that there's just "noise" missing. IDK how to better describe it. That's my biggest gripe.
I really like the mines. Its like a huge maze and I've been having a lot of fun there.
The characters are well drawn, but some of the 3D models don't really match their drawn portraits, which is a bit jarring to me. Specifically Hephaestus and Sasaki look wildly different to me. Sasaki looks like this large oaf in his 3D model but very timid in the drawn portrait. Hephaestus's 3D model really bothers me, as his drawn portrait looks very very good. But his 3D model not so much.
As I play more I am sure I will update this with more things I really like. I really went in on the things I didn't care for, but they won't be stopping me from playing the game, as I am having fun.
I know in the road map they said they will fix this, but my biggest issue is the lack of character customization in 1.0.... That's one of the most important additions to games like that...
