\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI've always been a gal that's played farm sim games. For example Stardew, Animal Crossing, etc. All I can say is that Tales of Seikyu has a lot of potential! I know we are still in 1.0, there are things that are fun and immersive, however there are somethings that are lacking.
Let's start with fun:
I personally loved the dialogue with the characters at the start of the game. I also loved the fishing mechanic, crafting mechanic, and farming! It's cool that you can shape shift into different forms to help with farming duties. Also crafting yokai so you end up not even doing it at all LOL. I also liked that the fox ruins is VERY expansive and there's a lot to do when you first start exploring it. Lastly character designs are cute, love that you have your sister to follow you along the journey and you can see her grow together with you.
Things that need to be worked on:
As I mentioned previously the dialogue only in the beginning was great! But then it starts lacking a lot and there aren't much choices after that. The dating in game is a little lackluster and even after you get married it just kind of feels like nothing has changed with your spouse. I personally thought the wedding event during the game would be a bit more lavish with the town people there, but no one was there! I wish it was lavish like how the welcome festival was thrown when we first arrived to the town. It was just kind of boring. And now the game just stops and things aren't as motivating as much...it's a bit abrupt if you ask me.
Now as for the season events in game. There are only TWO events as of right now which is the koi fish event and then the fall event. What about the other seasons? I noticed as time goes on there isn't much to look forward to after you finish the two season events. I wish they would add a bit more in-game events for all the seasons! Or even competitions that have to do with fishing or farming.
With that being said, I do personally love the game. I wish that it was cleaned out a bit more (there are some bugs that need to be fixed) and I hope/looking forward to the new content that will be out (if they go with their road map). I would love to see more dialogue and how kids would be added (at least it will make it a bit more fun).

The game is beautiful and the characters are very cool looking and interesting. Lots of ways to earn money and you even help build a CASINO, which is pretty awesome.

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tThis is such a weird one. In a lot of ways it's kind of close to something I'd recommend, but it has so many little things that just take you out of the experience.
Let's start with Combat. It exists! Yet I can't help but feel like it maybe should not have, and they should've focused more on puzzles or little challenges to do with the various forms. It's both rather sticky (moves will lurch toward an enemy) but it is just so very floaty at the same time. You'll whiff in spite of the sticky tracking, it'll be hard to tell if you're actually interrupting mobs--sometimes you just, won't? There's hardly any reaction to getting hit yourself unless you're sent flying. Dodging exists but it's...not great. No iframes isn't bad, but it too has the same sticky feeling and weirdness the rest of the combat has. I tried swords, I tried hammers, it's just not there chief. I wanted to like it, but woe.
Now to the Farm Sim; It's super basic. Pre-made grid plots, wander over them with your sprinkler, yadda yadda. Nothing new here chief, which is fine enough.
Quests? These are also a bit of a problem. They are all over the place, and you're flooded with them from the word go. The game wants you going in every direction at once and you just don't have the stamina for it. By the time you do have a better weapon (it's also your harvest tool) and all that, you're several quests behind and some of them require things that you don't even know how to get. For example, take a day one quest asking for Spice Rock. it's Not a resource you find in game, like you'd expect (as it's real-world equivilent is salt rock mixed with spices.) Nor is it something you get from Cooking. Nay, it is from....building a smelter, then smelting regular rocks down. It just lacks intuitive nature, and a lot of early quests mirror this format.
Gear and You: I don't know how to tell you this but good luck. It takes a ton of resources before you even get close to starting to make gear. Smelter eats 10 copper, charcoal kiln eats another 10, and it's 4 copper ore per bar. I'll admit after fifteen hours of trying to fill bundles, advance plot, attempt to keep up with the request board--I never made it this far. I got a hammer as loot and jumped from 2 damage to 12 in a single go. The resource investment, verses how much you get and how little it makes is almost gacha game levels of bad.
I feel like if this were still an early access title I'd be a little more forgiving, but it honestly needs some work still. It's very charming in terms of character designs, world, and ideas within it but lacks polish on a lot of it's fundamentals. Could do with a little slowing down, maybe kill the stamina drain on fighting monsters too. Nothing worse than being in a boss fight and running out of stamina, you just stop being able to do anything for instance.

This game suffers from severe overhype like many cozy games being pumped out and exiting 1.0 nowadays. This game severely lacks polish and shouldn't have been released, it should've remained in early access and kept ironing out and developing it's underbaked systems.
I can't really recommend this game unless you're really desperate, Guardians of Azuma is a much better experience if you want something similar but more polished than this game. I may edit this as I go since I'm still early but the early game so far has been bland and unpolished

The Good
- The graphics are nice and stylized
- The concept of being a Kitsune who can transform into various forms is cool
- The villagers have nice variety in appearances due to them being Yokai
The Ugly
- Performance is horrendous, my rig can barely run medium without it stuttering during combat and occasionally while cutting trees
- The performance absolutely dies when it rains
- Why though? This game is stylized and shouldn't be having this many performance issues
- Why do I have to turn the game into a PS2 game visually to have decent performance on a rig that can play MH Wilds decently without frame gen

The characters are interesting and well-written, but there are some really odd story progression choices that mean information can be revealed that you hadn't actually learned yet. Like two characters being related - it was referenced in a cutscene like it was common knowledge, and then a week later I learned it for the first time. Or characters will reference things your character has done as part of the main storyline.... except I haven't progressed that far yet.
If more care had been taken with problems like this, I'd recommend it pretty strongly. Beyond that, the controls are a bit clunky and inconsistent (a key used for one thing in one context might require a totally different key to perform the same action in a different context - feeding animals, say, might be R or might be Q), and the Fox Ruins can be incredibly annoying in sections. Still, it's not terrible overall, and has enough of an interesting story to keep me engaged, even with parts of it happening out of order. Bottom line? Cautious thumbs up.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

In other sims I usually walked away with only 1-2 characters I was moderately interested in while the rest of the cast ended in "whatever" folder. In Seikyu, I had fun interacting with most of them. Our sister is great. The dialog is very goofy at times but it fits the overall vibe. Main story is enjoyable but definitely undercooked.

I'm absolutely glad I bought this game. It's everything I'm looking for: relaxing farming, decent romance scenes, a lot of decoration customization options, new farm mechanics (morphing in to different creatures that make farming easy), decent but not difficult fighting mechanics, not super grindy but just enough.
I can't believe some of the comments are saying there's not enough dialog bc in my opinion there's plenty. In fact there was so much in my opinion I had to skip though some lol. The ranching is similar to stardew valley and this game had a feature where you can ranch monsters you catch, that drop monster loot (for crafting).
overall I give it a 8 out of 10 for me, I hope there's more updates
