\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tWhen I first got the game and loaded in I was already put off. I tried to give it time, just like reading a book, maybe it needed a moment to settle. By the time I decided I didn't really like it, it was too late to return.
THE GOOD:
This is a farming sim with a twist. It does get you out of that regular idea if you're burning out on it. The story is interesting, I want to dive deeper into it. The quests are quick and easy. Some of the character art is gorgeous. I like being able to have ranch animals, although the choice of some of the animals is strange.

The map can be confusing, especially with random parts being blocked off. The relationships with the villagers are so shallow and straight to the point. The story will develop, but the game won't show the results of the development. I could go on...like mining with a katana.

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI'm guessing that a lot of people looking at this game already know what the farming game genre is like, but just in case there's someone on this planet that hasn't played harvest moon or Stardew Valley yet, here's the basic gameplay loop.
-Get up
-water your plants
-harvest crops
-plant new crops
-take care of your animals
-talk to your neighbors
-fish/mine/fight monsters/forage as time allows
-go to bed
Now, let's go to the things that makes Tales of Seikyu stand out from others in the genre:
-Kon: you have a little sister that sticks with you, helps out, comments on things, and just generally keeps you company. She helps root your character in the world by giving you someone to care for, and is very adorable. She can be a bit annoying from time to time, but what younger sibling isn't XD.
-transformation: throughout the game you'll unlock a number of forms that help with the day-to-day farming and traversal, as well as solve puzzles in the mines and help with combat.
-Japanese folklore inspired setting: everyone you meet is some kind of Yokai (though I think there's a few creatures from European folklore as well, I'm not versed enough in Japanese folklore to know if they have Minotaurs and Dryads), and the village and architecture are all clearly inspired by Japan, though with a mismatch of eras that gives the place a style of its own.
-Combat: the combat in this game is a lot better than your average farming game, with three weapons with different combat styles, quick and heavy attacks and dodges.
-capibaras: You can raise capibaras, and give them a hot spring to chill in. Need I say more?
I'd also like to give a shout-out to three love interests that break the usual mould of 20-something bachelors and bachelorettes that are common in this genre.
-Torleone is the towns fish-monger, a former pirate and acting single dad to his young nephew. It's a bit hard to read his age, what with him being a beefy otter-guy and all, but he reads as a forty-something guy.
-Miss Ama is retired actress and the owner of the towns clothes-shop, I didn't get as far in her personal storyline, but like Torleone she reads as an older character (incidentally, if you pursue neither her nor Torleone, she and Torleone end up getting together)
-Leon: he's the town priest, a man that has lived decades and can tell countless stories of his travels. He is also incredibly handsome and absolutely ripped.
I'm making note of these as I've seen in quite a few other games people lamenting the lack of older love interests, and I'd say this game delivers on that front for those interested.
Now, I do have to mention a few less good points of this game. I enjoyed my playthrough and recommend the game, but it is not a perfect masterpiece and you should be aware of these points as well if you're comparing different games in the genre:
-Overall the game is just a little bit janky. There are no game-breaking bugs or anything, but there are some points that are just a little rough. The game tends to stutter when you enter the tow for the first time in a play session, and sometimes characters just teleport from point a to point b as their time-table demands, amongst other things. This didn't really dampen my enjoyment, but most players will be able to tell the game is a little rough around the edges still.
-The pacing is just a little off: Days feel a little bit too long, except for when they feel way too short instead. Progress through the fox ruins (the games mining/combat area) goes pretty quickly, right up until you hit a barrier requiring new tools or expanding your farm to get certain resources, which feels like a sudden hard brake on your progress. Some character relationships advance way quicker than others, and you can complete a significant portion of the game, including all but one bundle, before even reaching your first winter. You can also get automation for your fields (watering and planting new crops) really quickly (before the end of spring), which undermines your transformations uses in farming a little.
Overall, I'd rate this game a solid 8/10. If you like farming games, are interested in the Japan-inspired setting and have a tolerance for a game being a little rough around the edges I can definitely recommend it!\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

I am currently stuck at putting the fires out around town and cannot progress forward within the story. \n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tIt's a good and clearly lower budget game inspired by your favourites such as Stardew Valley. It reminded me a lot of Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma. I must say, overall, Azuma was a much better game, but it does come from a bigger studio. This game is clunky - the combat took me a long time to get used to, and initially I regretted picking the "Recommended" more with balanced combat/story over the story-only version. The yokai forms are interesting but could be more exciting and useful. There are a lot of things that this game doesn't explain well at all and you have to learn by trial and error. A lot of NPC interactions seem random or sudden, practically accidentally triggered (e.g. the game doesn't tell you that it wants you to speak to a specific person in specific time condition set in order to trigger a quest).

They have been applying patches whenever they do find bugs so the dev team is doing a good job of staying active and making the game better. My only large complaint is the AI artwork. I honestly wish I had read reviews before buying because if I had known about the AI I wouldn't have bought it. I very heavily disagree with AI use because it is literal theft of artists work everywhere. Due to this I can't recommend the game, unfortunately. All they had to do was hire someone for the portraits and it would have been fine. You can tell the portraits are AI by the little inconsistencies. I do appreciate the character designs (I don't know how much AI they used) but everything else—the NPCs, the towns, and the terrain—feels disjointed and unnaturally empty. Nothing seamlessly blends together. Character customization also feels extremely limited.

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI've always been a gal that's played farm sim games. For example Stardew, Animal Crossing, etc. All I can say is that Tales of Seikyu has a lot of potential! I know we are still in 1.0, there are things that are fun and immersive, however there are somethings that are lacking.
Let's start with fun:
I personally loved the dialogue with the characters at the start of the game. I also loved the fishing mechanic, crafting mechanic, and farming! It's cool that you can shape shift into different forms to help with farming duties. Also crafting yokai so you end up not even doing it at all LOL. I also liked that the fox ruins is VERY expansive and there's a lot to do when you first start exploring it. Lastly character designs are cute, love that you have your sister to follow you along the journey and you can see her grow together with you.
Things that need to be worked on:
As I mentioned previously the dialogue only in the beginning was great! But then it starts lacking a lot and there aren't much choices after that. The dating in game is a little lackluster and even after you get married it just kind of feels like nothing has changed with your spouse. I personally thought the wedding event during the game would be a bit more lavish with the town people there, but no one was there! I wish it was lavish like how the welcome festival was thrown when we first arrived to the town. It was just kind of boring. And now the game just stops and things aren't as motivating as much...it's a bit abrupt if you ask me.
Now as for the season events in game. There are only TWO events as of right now which is the koi fish event and then the fall event. What about the other seasons? I noticed as time goes on there isn't much to look forward to after you finish the two season events. I wish they would add a bit more in-game events for all the seasons! Or even competitions that have to do with fishing or farming.
With that being said, I do personally love the game. I wish that it was cleaned out a bit more (there are some bugs that need to be fixed) and I hope/looking forward to the new content that will be out (if they go with their road map). I would love to see more dialogue and how kids would be added (at least it will make it a bit more fun).

This game suffers from severe overhype like many cozy games being pumped out and exiting 1.0 nowadays. - The graphics are nice and stylized
- The concept of being a Kitsune who can transform into various forms is cool
- The villagers have nice variety in appearances due to them being Yokai

- Performance is horrendous, my rig can barely run medium without it stuttering during combat and occasionally while cutting trees

Game can be a bit janky at times, I hot smacked by a boar and became stuck against a cliff wall, but no fear! They got a Unstuck button that works. It works to when your having issues going into your storage, or with selection issues. Just click unstuck and all good again.
Also if u wanna make moneys, after you get your fox form, tame some of those hay lookin monsters with the foot steps that sound like heart beats. Put them in your Monster Pin, sell the scarecrow doll things and bam. Get 5 or more of em making the dolls and you'll make uber cash.
Cant find Gold Easy? After u save your sis Kon, and get the human scroll, the areas in the ruins further in will have a lot more gold ores. \\
Love interest wise Summary: I wanna date em all but i'm worried how that will effect game play, might try mutli saves after i get further in game and then try romance a char per save.
