Edition of Riders Republic expecting it to include the full additional content. Instead, I found out that a lot of the content still has to be purchased separately. So what exactly am I paying extra for if the “Premium Edition” doesn’t actually feel like a complete edition?<br><br>I was also really disappointed with the design of some of the female characters. Some of them look so unnatural and unattractive that it becomes distracting. In my opinion, this kind of character design doesn’t promote equality or respect for women at all - it actually does the opposite.<br><br>It feels like the developers focused too much on pushing diversity, equality and LGBT-related representation instead of simply creating natural-looking, well-designed characters and delivering the content that customers actually paid for.<br><br>Overall, after completing STEEP hoping that the game would be just as polished as the original game X-games title published by Ubisoft. However, Riders Republic feels like a downgrade sacrificing core mechanics for variety and live-service elements. Here's a list of issues that I had with the game that stood out to me after playing for a few hours:<br><br><ul class=\"bb_ul\"><li> Controls feel awful in RR; despite learning how to 'drift' around corners in the opening tutorial on the bike, half of the time it doesn't work when your going too fast. It's not that the drifting is inefficient at a high-speed, it just doesn't happen at all. You will often seen players launch themselves off a cliff because the mechanic doesn't work when it's supposed to. That's really annoying considering that many tracks that have tight turns and fast target times to beat. Turning is also sometimes non-responsive, you nudge in one direction to try to make a sharp maneuver and your bike will drift back into the direction it was going before. Again, easier when going slow but the entire point is to go fast.<br></li><li> I'm convinced that skateboarding is unplayable in it's current state. Collectibles and SKATE letters are placed in areas that cannot be reached with high speeds, and your character will refuse to gain speed after ~40km/hr (which sounds like a lot, but it's not nearly enough when you start going up some of the ramps needed to gain altitude). When you can't get enough speed (or accelerate quickly), the challenges become either impossible or incredibly difficult. You will see other players suffer with the same mechanics during your own gameplay session and it's a sad experience. Go play the BMX modes and you'll find that this is completely solved by having the 'boost' function because you can speed up immediately to get out of a bowl or gain enough altitude to do tricks that would be nearly impossible to do on a skateboard. Also; nearly every time you ollie, your character attempts to do a frontflip/backflip and will wipeout. This is taken from the other game modes (mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding) where you have so much speed that it isn't a problem. <br></li><li> A lot of collectibles are placed in really dumb areas; like some in the skatepark where you would THINK you could get them naturally by grinding or jumping off a ramp but nah, too difficult or otherwise impossible. Just grab  them with the rocket jetpack instead.<br></li><li> Sometimes I will fast travel to an event and the game will drop me off in a random spot; or the event just disappears? Really odd behavior. I've also had issues clipping through the map on some occasions. <br></li><li> Game has microtransactions despite purchasing the Ultimate Edition. I understand it's a live service title and it doesn't really bother me, but having them on the world map where they appear as event or stages is kinda pushing it too far. <br></li><li> Some of the music is just... really monotonous and unfitting. I don't know what the design team was thinking but I guess this one is up to interpretation. </li></ul><br>I'm glad that the game is getting continued support and that plenty of people are playing, but the core mechanics are atrocious and need to be remedies to justify the high price of the premium edition / added DLC. STEEP is an old game, yet the controls (while somewhat erroneous) are all objectively much more refined for precise movement, leading to a much better experience than Riders Republic currently offers.
