Instead of huge tracks we get a little arenas, scrap cars that needs a minute to accelerate up to 100 kmh and poor destruction: the idea that some inner parts of your car like engine can break is interesting, but first you have to manually adjust destruction level for your run and even with that it is nowhere near to Flatout where you crash the cars, bump them on 200kmh and they go fly. Here at best you can spin someone backwards and the worst thing is the game PUNISHES YOU FOR CRASHING OTHER CARS, you will get destroyed yourself much quicker than you would make any significant damage to others, and you will get last as a cherry on top either because all cars barely accelerate or because your engine will be broken after couple of hits.
So, no satisfaction from racing, no satisfaction from crashing. Just plain and slow game.
Although I can mention they made some funny modes like sofa or grass cutter racing.
I won't call the game bad, it is ok, and maybe there's some good racing cars (although I've seen none in the shop, but there are in game trailer, idk), but if you've seen this game and never played Flatout before, just buy FO Ultimate Carnage (aka Flatout 2 remaster), you will get much better experience.

+ 150km/h doesn't sound fast compared to other games, but it's pretty fast in Wreckfest
+ nice tracks - some of them really look like they could've been used in FlatOut

Dirt Devil Stadium was probably my favorite from the "unique" ones
+- basically only demolition derby and circuit races, would be nice to see some sprints, or possibly some challenges/minigames in the style of FlatOut
+- while not strictly a bad or good thing, some of the later races (Pro Internationals and World Masters) can be pretty long
ie: a series of 8 races with each having 12 laps (short maps), or 6 laps (long maps)
they can also get pretty messy - usually most of the opponents get wrecked
+- pretty good car control, you can feel the weight, but also basically all cars (at least the ones I used) feel like flying bricks in turns
+- location variety - there are only forest, quarry and stadium/racing track maps

+- while not strictly a bad or good thing, some of the later races (Pro Internationals and World Masters) can be pretty long
ie: a series of 8 races with each having 12 laps (short maps), or 6 laps (long maps)
they can also get pretty messy - usually most of the opponents get wrecked
+- pretty good car control, you can feel the weight, but also basically all cars (at least the ones I used) feel like flying bricks in turns

The absurd amount of stuff flying through the air during a race - particles, vehicle parts, dust, sparks, smoke etc. really makes you feel llike a demolition derby racer. The driving mechanics themselves feel smooth and responsive. Driving through wide dirt roads with occasional jumps and sharp turns feels amazing.
The game also features a bunch of modes outside of just racing, for instance - demolition derby deathmatch, demolition derby deathmatch but with lawnmowers, 1 bus vs 20 lawnmowers chase etc.
Let's not forget about a wiiiiide range of race tracks that all fit the tone of this game and are so much fun to drive around.
I just wish the developers would use their driving mechanics to create a non-demoltion derby racing game with 'regular' sports cars. One cam dream.

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tSuper engaging racing game, and as the second racing title I've ever played (beyond the obvious Mariokart) it holds up very well. The destruction you can wreak in this game is next-level, and the car damage effects look wonderful as do the tracks. Others have noted, and I agree, that the two sides of the game (car demolition and car racing) are at odds with one another. On the one hand, if you prioritize good driving and get a decent lead, you'll probably never interact with another racer for the duration of the race, largely negating the "wreckfest," and sealing your first place spot. On the other hand, if you do engage with the vehicular melee, it's a lot of fun, but there's zero chance you'll actually win. The devs didn't do a fantastic job handling this tension, but the arenas that focus on near-misses, massive crashes, and crossing points are both the most fun and the most open to sudden reversals. I haven't touched the multiplayer, but there's so much content with the singleplayer that I'm more than satisfied. Loved it.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

It has some flaws, but when compared to some of the newer games it marries damage well with everything else. The cars are good, the damage is cool, the customization is fun and silly although limited, and it can be a wild ride once you join public servers.
It is also enjoyed well with friends and if you have enough of them you can have your own races or derbies. It can also be enjoyed entirely solo, but be warned, just like in real life, most people can't drive or corner to save their lives and don't know how to use their brakes.
The graphics are decent and the damage effects are some of the best I've seen. Yes, some damage is entirely unrealistic, but no game gets it right.
