\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tolder monster hunter fans will try and convince you that this game is bad because its "too easy" and then when you go play gen u or another old monhun game the whole experience feels like getting your balls forcefully vaporized multiple times over because of how clunky and slow the controls feel. do NOT get mind controlled by them. Wilds is good. Focus mode is cool. The combat feels insanely smooth and intuitive.
And NEVER let someone try and demean you cus u didnt start on some ancient esoteric 4000 year old secret monster hunter game that only released in china and the only way to control your character is by dancing on a ddr pad while having electric currents running through nipple clamps and a buttplug or something. If you're into fighting games this game is highly recommended, each player can choose 2 weapons that involve different combos to learn, its fun. Unlike other MH games, this one is beginner friendly with its 'focus mode'. This allows the player to aim where their attacking, suburb addition.
STORY, I'm sorry to say but do not get this game expecting 10/10 story quality, as a MH player I feel like nobody plays the game for the story. IT can be engaging sometimes, and even towards the endgame fighting along all other NPC hunters, sure, can be engaging.

Monster Hunter Wilds is worse than some people expected, but apparently that’s enough to declare the entire franchise a disaster. The mixed reviews are actually doing the community a favor: they help separate people who genuinely enjoy Monster Hunter from those who apparently played for five hours, got mildly inconvenienced, and immediately became professional game critics.

Regarding the near-constant GPU errors, NO OTHER GAME in my Steam library does that. Ever.
Gonna bite the bullet and wait for the upcoming Switch 2 version, as much of a money burner & major loss of in-game progress it may be.

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI have to hit a no recommend for the performance situation in general, and a messy glitch that left me unable to play the game until it was fixed two patches later.
I had my fun, but its got the messiest balance curve i've ever seen in a game. As ive become a bit of a Monhun purist over the years (and gained some disdain for a lot that MHWORLD brought to the table) it has a lot of supreme QoL and the EASIESt story in any monhun game i've ever played, even if player experience is accounted for. Then again, i'm the crazy person who likes when low rank kicks your ass.
The immediate abandon of the camp mechanics, seikret taxi, and other things make this game a tad too mindless for my taste (in a way that even the ps2 games can feel more immersive, even with very restricted zone loading), plus my favorite weapon (hammer) was shafted for most of the update release cycle. (I feel for you insect glaive pals, solidarity)
If you think you can run this and don't mind the above, the moment to moment gameplay *is* really cool and snappy, the movement is very freeform but most of the combat relies on counters and blocks which dilluted a couple of weapon identities: A perfect block from a dinky shield will be just as good as any perfect block, which kind of made the classic heavy shielders like lance and gl less unique in that niche, even if they gained new moves. Greatsword perfect guard weaving to cancel swing recovery into block felt like i was playing the first God Eater again lmao. What they did to the bowguns when it comes to ammo variety (stuff like the fact recoil and spread are normalized across ammo types, regardless of gun) is, however, frankly a disgrace.
Monster design is pretty damn good, but a lot of really unique designs are 4 minute fight pushovers so you wont get to see a lot of the care that went into them. Love the new Octopus rig, Rey Dau might be one of the best monsters they've made in the past 15 years.
I am heavily conflicted about this game, but i am far from being the average monster hunter player: Having started with rise, but then done the trek backward and loving Tri underwater combat and even fighting Lao Shan Lung in Monster Hunter dos, i found that i actually enjoyed a lot of the older game's friction, which made the multiplayer victories feel satisfying in my book...
Again, If you can run it, you'll probably hhave fun! But i find that its staying power was not as strong as other Monhuns i've played, particularly w the speed you can blitz through this game.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

After 200 hours of playing it crashed again at the start of Gogmazios 2nd phase, then today it crashed again during 3rd phase while it nuking the hunters. And those chill level 999 guys regularly drop into random quests where they need absolutely nothing, just to help out some newbies - and, of course, flex their aura one more time.

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tThe biggest problem with Wilds is that it removes almost all friction and with it, a lot of what made Monster Hunter feel like Monster Hunter.
Almost every mechanic that used to require preparation, decision-making or knowledge has been streamlined away.
You barely walk anymore. Seikret handles most of the traveling, lets you heal and sharpen on the move, and even gets you back on your feet after taking a hit. Items don't need to be picked up anymore, just shoot them with the Slinger. Monster drops teleport straight into your inventory.
Resources are basically infinite. Money, points, consumables and materials never feel scarce. There is almost no grinding. Most monsters only need to be hunted a few times to get everything you want, and even decorations and Artian gear are extremely easy to obtain.
The Palico handles healing and status recovery for you, capture thresholds are practically impossible to miss, and mechanics like tremors, wind pressure, blights and especially stun barely matter anymore. You can cook and restock whenever you want, even during a hunt. Fainting barely has any consequences because you keep your food buffs.
And then there is the actual combat.
There is almost no challenge. Monsters spend huge amounts of time knocked down or locked into wound-break animations. You don't really have to learn their moves or earn openings anymore, just attack wounds and the monster falls over. Triple-carting feels almost impossible because the monster will often die before it can seriously threaten you.
The result is that you don't really need to learn the maps, prepare for hunts, manage resources, understand monster behavior or grind for gear. You just fight the monster, collect everything automatically and move on.
And that's the biggest disappointment for me.

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tAlright, first off, I'm a big Monster Hunter fan. I started with the first one on the PS2. I loved all the games and most spin-offs so far. It was great. And then Wilds happened and you had to ruin it. Why? Why did you do it, Capcom? Stop ignoring older fans.
First off, the game has way too much automation. Yeah you can PRESS A BUTTON to stop the bird, but guess what? The dog in Rise stopped on his own! Why are you taking a step back? You also ruined the storage system. Before I just opened the box, pressed a button to put the item in, pressed another to put the amount I want in my pouch. Now there's menus within menus that completely complicate this stuff. Again, why? And why no option to reverse it? The bird keeps walking. I'm not going to rewire my brain that's used to the mount stopping when I let go the stick. So many steps back.
The exploration is still there if you just ignore the bird at least, so that's nice. But why did you ruin the combat? Focus mode is completely pointless, auto-positioning is dumb and lazy. And the environmnets, man oh man, deserts are NOT cool, Capcom. They're one of the most boring locations you can add. And what's with the hyper realistic filters and all the grain? Bring back the color! We're not in the PS3 era of browns and greys anymore. What's with the cat speaking? One of the big appeals of this series was that the cats were meowing. Why change it? It's so unnecessary!
So many small things just add up. I like the new monsters, I really do, I'm having fun when I'm actively IGNORING the new mechanics. So why do it? And what's with the constant gimmicks? Before, all we had was just new monsters, updated movesets for weapons, new armors, and new music. That's all you need! There's no need to keep reinventing the series. Or at least make it so we can turn some things off completely. I know you guys worked hard on it but I also worked hard and gave my money to the series for over 20 years. I want to do it more! And constant MP too, my god I want to just play alone and take it easy like before. Is that too much to ask?

Outside of that, this game is very fun, make sure you have recommended specs listed if you want stable 60 frames around medium settings. The combat is a lot smoother than other monster hunter games, its closer to rise than it is world. Its less about knowing the monster and more knowing the button to counter it.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t
