Objectively. Just wait until they actually fix the performance issues and release the expansion DLC.
The game itself is technically amazing and has come a far way from day one release quality however i can't recommend it due to the game performance issue. Yes it is better than before especially early days release but it still not enough to makes you atleast feels comfortable. It went from incredibly bad to just bad. An improve indeed but not enough to justify it.
If you play just for the content then you'll be delight by this game beautiful world and monsters IF you can tolerate the game bad performance simultaniously. I literally bought a new PC with this particular game in mine and while it's a long and rewarding journey i do wish nobody needs to do the same. Monster Hunter has always been a game that genuinely love its community and this act of letting such a gorgeous and thoughtful game release and handed to its consumer in basically a fundamentally broken state "for over a year" i mind you, is really heartbraking.
If you worry about the performance then no. Don't even buy it unless it's in a really deep discount or you just love this series that deeply.
I do believe that the expansion will fix this issue the same way i believe it will be fixed earlier since beta test days. \n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tThe biggest problem with Wilds is that it removes almost all friction and with it, a lot of what made Monster Hunter feel like Monster Hunter.
Almost every mechanic that used to require preparation, decision-making or knowledge has been streamlined away.
You barely walk anymore. Seikret handles most of the traveling, lets you heal and sharpen on the move, and even gets you back on your feet after taking a hit. Items don't need to be picked up anymore, just shoot them with the Slinger. Monster drops teleport straight into your inventory.
Resources are basically infinite. Money, points, consumables and materials never feel scarce. There is almost no grinding. Most monsters only need to be hunted a few times to get everything you want, and even decorations and Artian gear are extremely easy to obtain.
The Palico handles healing and status recovery for you, capture thresholds are practically impossible to miss, and mechanics like tremors, wind pressure, blights and especially stun barely matter anymore. You can cook and restock whenever you want, even during a hunt. Fainting barely has any consequences because you keep your food buffs.
And then there is the actual combat.
There is almost no challenge. Monsters spend huge amounts of time knocked down or locked into wound-break animations. You don't really have to learn their moves or earn openings anymore, just attack wounds and the monster falls over. Triple-carting feels almost impossible because the monster will often die before it can seriously threaten you.
The result is that you don't really need to learn the maps, prepare for hunts, manage resources, understand monster behavior or grind for gear. You just fight the monster, collect everything automatically and move on.
And that's the biggest disappointment for me.

The game is visually stunning and offers a gameplay loop that feels almost endless. There's a lot to dive into with all of the weapons, and the various amount of builds you can make with each of them. Many niches can be carved out with minor adjustments to your build that add a whole new element to each monster hunt. It's great to play on your own and a lot of fun to play with others. Try out the demo first for free and if you enjoy it buy the whole thing and get ready for the expansion in 2027!

When it launched people did have performance/start-up issues at first. Luckily Capcom finally was able to make a fix and address most of those problems. I would be surprised if anyone was still having game ruining problems outside of outdated and below spec hardware at this point in time.
People are also currently complaining that the game is too easy, that is a lie. It's a song and dance this community has done for every Monster Hunter game in the franchise, just to be put in their place when the Title updates release. With the DLC around the corner in 2027, it will just get even harder, so we have a lot to look forward to! Ignore these kinds of people and just have fun!\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

I welcome qol features, I think it makes me spend more time learning and prepping for different monsters than learning how to deal with stiff inputs on certain weapons or general tedium that was present in prior titles. But it's such a shame that they messed with the co-op convenience. Why can't it just be like Rise, where you could freely hunt and level up from the start? Instead, you're forced to solo-progress your way through the main story until you encounter a boss, and only then can you call for help. And you have to keep doing this all the way until the end game. It completely ruins the fun of playing co-op with friends."\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

It's so corny, it seems like it relies on recycled cartoon level speeches about friendship that feels out of touch with the high stakes hunting premise. Disonnects when neither my friend or I have any internet problems and after pushing through all of the constant technical problems the game itself is unfortunately not even that great of a monster hunter game. There is character customization I would say its fairly detailed. Cute interactions with feylines (cat pet) and monsters. world feels like you are in a pre historic world. dinosaurs lovers should absolutely play this game. Animations are fluid and movement feels alive a satisfying which I value very much. So far I have just done 1st chapter, Story does feel interesting. MAIN CHARACTER TALKS which is huge W for a RPG also they aura farm sometimes. All baby dinosaurs are soooooooooo cute my I want to hug everyone of them. Also monster desgins are EPIC and they do intimidate you with those.
Without High Res texture dlc the texure is soo low but I did not download it becuase my pc is kind of entry level. I did not face any performance issues yet, But I am playing on medium setttings with nvidia dlss upscaling balanced to hit 60 constant fps. I hope next optimization increase the fps or looks better for the same fps.

I had my fun, but its got the messiest balance curve i've ever seen in a game. As ive become a bit of a Monhun purist over the years (and gained some disdain for a lot that MHWORLD brought to the table) it has a lot of supreme QoL and the EASIESt story in any monhun game i've ever played, even if player experience is accounted for. Then again, i'm the crazy person who likes when low rank kicks your ass.
The immediate abandon of the camp mechanics, seikret taxi, and other things make this game a tad too mindless for my taste (in a way that even the ps2 games can feel more immersive, even with very restricted zone loading), plus my favorite weapon (hammer) was shafted for most of the update release cycle. (I feel for you insect glaive pals, solidarity)
If you think you can run this and don't mind the above, the moment to moment gameplay *is* really cool and snappy, the movement is very freeform but most of the combat relies on counters and blocks which dilluted a couple of weapon identities: A perfect block from a dinky shield will be just as good as any perfect block, which kind of made the classic heavy shielders like lance and gl less unique in that niche, even if they gained new moves. Greatsword perfect guard weaving to cancel swing recovery into block felt like i was playing the first God Eater again lmao. What they did to the bowguns when it comes to ammo variety (stuff like the fact recoil and spread are normalized across ammo types, regardless of gun) is, however, frankly a disgrace.
Monster design is pretty damn good, but a lot of really unique designs are 4 minute fight pushovers so you wont get to see a lot of the care that went into them. Love the new Octopus rig, Rey Dau might be one of the best monsters they've made in the past 15 years.
I am heavily conflicted about this game, but i am far from being the average monster hunter player: Having started with rise, but then done the trek backward and loving Tri underwater combat and even fighting Lao Shan Lung in Monster Hunter dos, i found that i actually enjoyed a lot of the older game's friction, which made the multiplayer victories feel satisfying in my book...
Again, If you can run it, you'll probably hhave fun! But i find that its staying power was not as strong as other Monhuns i've played, particularly w the speed you can blitz through this game.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI love Monster Hunter. I have over 200 hours each in Rise and Generations Ultimate and a more modest amount in World, which makes it hurt to not recommend this game. But even after the supposed performance improvements, it runs badly, and the worst part is that the frame timings basically oscillate, which makes me nauseous. I used to play on a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ gaming laptop, so I can tolerate low frame rates, but the stuttering and erratic frame times make me straight up nauseous.
The core combat is as fun as ever, and I think this is one of the best iterations of the Dual Blades. Everything around it is what sucks.
The story sucks ass (okay, all Monster Hunter stories suck), but this is by far the worst one, and it's the one that puts the story most front and center. There are a bunch of 10+ minute slow-walking sequences. The awful cutscenes are at least skippable, but the walking sequences are not. The characters go "wow, look how beautiful these butterflies are" and the camera does a 15-second zoom on them. This happens dozens of times. It feels like the developers didn't trust me to experience this world and find it beautiful on my own. It's patronizing, and ironically it hurts the enjoyment of the game a lot.
And while the game runs like ♥♥♥♥, it also looks flat and just not that good. The animations are top notch like in every Monster Hunter game, and Arkveld's chains probably have more polygons than all of GenU. But the color grading looks awful, random textures look completely flat and are much lower resolution than the rest of the game, and the art style just doesn't do it for me. It might be far more technically impressive than Rise, but Rise looks better to me, and it runs at playable frame rates.
They spent a huge amount of time and effort building a massive world that the Seikret's auto-run makes completely irrelevant. I have no incentive to explore it, which isn't helped by the performance.
The QoL from Rise is basically gone. Things that took 2 button presses now take 5 to 10 for no reason.
The combat is still fun, but literally everything else is some of the worst in any Monster Hunter game I've played. If you think you can tolerate the performance and everything around the combat, which the game for some reason keeps you away from as much as it can, go ahead. There are a bunch of 10+ minute slow-walking sequences. The awful cutscenes are at least skippable, but the walking sequences are not. The characters go "wow, look how beautiful these butterflies are" and the camera does a 15-second zoom on them. This happens dozens of times. It feels like the developers didn't trust me to experience this world and find it beautiful on my own. It's patronizing, and ironically it hurts the enjoyment of the game a lot.
And while the game runs like ♥♥♥♥, it also looks flat and just not that good. The animations are top notch like in every Monster Hunter game, and Arkveld's chains probably have more polygons than all of GenU. But the color grading looks awful, random textures look completely flat and are much lower resolution than the rest of the game, and the art style just doesn't do it for me. It might be far more technically impressive than Rise, but Rise looks better to me, and it runs at playable frame rates.
They spent a huge amount of time and effort building a massive world that the Seikret's auto-run makes completely irrelevant. I have no incentive to explore it, which isn't helped by the performance.
The QoL from Rise is basically gone. Things that took 2 button presses now take 5 to 10 for no reason.
The combat is still fun, but literally everything else is some of the worst in any Monster Hunter game I've played. If you think you can tolerate the performance and everything around the combat, which the game for some reason keeps you away from as much as it can, go ahead. Facetious bit aside, I do think this is a well-made game. A bit *too* well made, in fact. The areas are perfectly designed for your new mount companion to the point where traversing any other way introduces massive friction to the experience. Your handler takes every opportunity to remind you of either a mechanic that's constantly occurring in the background or an environmental feature that you'll see dozens of times over the course of your playthrough.
I'm not arguing that this game should play *exactly* like whatever your pet Monster Hunter title is. Iteration and incremental changes are commonplace across any longstanding franchise. On top of that, fans of any entry could tell you the pain points of their particular gem are, and how they wish things were different. However, there can be *too* much change between singular titles, a fact that should be quite apparent given the variance present across the last few entries in this franchise.
I've enjoyed my time thus far with this game, and plan to participate in the expansion when that finally releases. However, it will not be taking the place of my favorite Monster Hunter. There *are* things I like about it, but there are equally as many things that I don't. I dislike needing to hold a button to keep it at a standstill. It is my get-out-of-jail free card whenever I am caught out of place during a hunt.
In my opinion, the Monster Hunter formula works for a reason. Its punishing nature teaches players about its mechanics, and to beware the monsters they hunt. The act of hunting a monster is a skill that should be slowly refined as you progress through the story and rise in hunter rank. Learning to use the environment to your advantage falls in this same category, as does learning how best to navigate this environment. This game, however, is doing its best to do all this thinking for you, from telling you about environmental features you can interact with, to your mount that does all the traversal for you so you can look cool and take in the environment without thinking.
