Having all of your cards tied to moves that your ship actually does, and having them all feel like they have a physical tangible effect you keep track of in a physical plane in the game, and not just abstract numbers is one of my favorite takes on the genre. <br><br>the dialogue was actually really good! I was expecting to maybe not like it in the first few minutes, but after i got enough interaction I completely flipped to wishing more games sounded like this, since this is way a lot of people i know talk. and the personalities are well written, and the jokes often land for me. i really liked the way you discover more about the story and characters too.\t\t\t\t\t<div only gives negative reviews.<br>Good game, had alot of fun with it.<br>Not perfectly balanced but it offers enough options that you aren't trapped into one meta.<br>The characters are fun, the story hell. i have near 100% completion on Switch but finally started playing on steam. i love the music and sound design, the dialogue is fun for being so concise. i would love to see this world animated or fully rendered for cutscenes. the characters are fun and have consistent personalities and quirks. the actual gameplay mechanics are sound. solid deck builder with buffs and boons and 3 tiered reception given that I have only bought the game this past week, but I was immediately hooked—I have not played a ton of the modern deckbuilding titles but I loved my time playing right from the get-go! This game appears to draw inspiration from a few other games and I think it succeeds in creating a fun blend with its own unique personality.<br>Speaking of which, I think what drew me in the most into the experience was the colourful characters crewing the ships. Uncovering bits and pieces of their past, the snippets of dialogue and interactions between ally and foe alike, it all made for a profoundly charming and endearing experience! comes to card-battler rogue-likes - Cobalt Core won me over quickly with its music and charming writing, and kept me around with a healthy amount of depth. The hardest difficulty isn't punishing - every run feels winnable and then some, but you can assemble combinations of characters and ships that can really test your skills.<br><br>The music and writing are the star of the show. The subtle running gags, quips at the start of fights, and interactions between the characters kept me smiling throughout.<br><br>Best thing: The daily runs are where the game is as its best as a pure game, forcing you to adapt to modifiers and with an effective, deadly simple scoring system that encourages you to take risks to reach the top of the leaderboard<br><br>One caveat: Reaching the end of the story takes 18 successful runs. I found with only 4 difficulties I was having to rely on the &quot;random loadout&quot; button to find ways to make the last ~5 or so runs not feel like a grind.\t\t\t\t\t<div Choose 3 characters and a ship for each run, resulting in 280 different loadouts, and even more diversity based on card selection, artifacts, etc. <br><br>Music is great, artwork is pixel-based but well-done, and the characters, even many of the enemy NPCs, have very distinct personalities and I love them.
