\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tIf you are a big fan of the first game, and enjoyed that experience, I highly recommend that you go back to it, instead of buying this inferior version.
Just for reference here seem to be the key missing features, I can't go in to too much depth as I have only played the first 2 hours:
-No more player stats, all characters run at the same speed and have the same power, player stats are purely decided by equipped skill ranks now. So there is now no build variety at all apart from shots and dribble moves.
-Less decision making, there doesn't seem to be any choice for story pathway at least in the early game. In the first game you got to select from the list of schools which expanded as the game went on, now you just play for Sao Paulo and team Japan, which will make subsequent playthroughs more tedious. I am suspicious that you can no longer make multiple characters in multiple playthroughs to add to your team, which is devastating as the replayability and making the ideal character, while collecting the moves by increasing friendships, was a great feature, Speaking of.
-No friendship system, you no longer seem to be building up friendships by making the correct social choices, at the very least this is true for the first part of the game, there is also no "downtime" type bits, the side scenarios and links are basically cutscenes that don't seem to have anything to do with your agency as a player, apart from some being locked behind match challenges.
-Team creation is GONE. You can only play as the world and club teams etc, you can't make your own with completely bespoke members, kits and the like. This also lends credence to my previous point about there not being replay value to make more characters, as the teams are basically set.
-Offline tournaments are GONE. You can no longer set up dream brackets with created teams and ones from the base story, you can only play exhibitions or fragg off back to FC/FIFA.
-I have had multiple crashes so far, stability isn't great, while it doesn't run slowly it frequently has a fatal error usually when doing cutscene transitions. Loading times are long, even longer than the last game where it was an occasional issue, especially since both have many loading screens inherently.
Some other nuisance changes:
-You can no longer use super shots by simply charging up, rewarding good play and chaining dribbles to increase speed, now you just have to wait for the gauge to build up (which will usually only happen once or twice per game) and press one button to use your super, additionally you only get one true super, so you cannot both have a block super AND a shot super (the same is true for super passes, super dribbles and tackles are new mechanics compared to the old game) at the same time (you'll have a basic shot but no super like neo-drive or neo-tiger).
So all the hype moments of building up charge to see a cool animation and score by using your most powerful moves in sequence, are gone, instead you will be waiting for meter and scoring with normal shots for most games. Not a strictly worse mechanic but it certainly makes the game feel slower, less dramatic, additionally gauge seems to be not shared but work in unison. So most of your team will build up gauge at the same rate, the same is true for your opponent, so it turns the late game into a fustercluck, you will have everyone on your team spamming moves at random before going back to being boring again, and the AI will just prevent any real progress by doing the same kind of spam.
-Customised players seem either less unique or the same, giant players are less big and seem more normal sized, small players aren't that small.
-The camera seems to be really close even at the widest setting, much harder to get a good view of the whole pitch now, which is more important than before given how tackling works now.
-The Rock Paper Scissors seems to be gone, or so different it feels baffling, the enemy can still instantly strip you if you do nothing, but tackles now damage stamina when you dribble through them, making chaining with a solo player going on a run more difficult. I think this would be fine if not for my next point.
-Dribble and tackles have really weird hitboxes now, a player can be within inches of your animation's clear range and not get hit, or you can be dragged from another country into an animation. This leads to way more whiffing and then being punished on recovery frames. Additionally the new super tackles are the worst for this, as essentially the game prevents any escape from them even if you act prophylactically, pressing pass when you know a super tackle is coming does nothing at all.
But hey guys, they added the ability to play as a Goalkeeper so I guess all is forgiven (never mind the fact the goalie has no stats to level and seems to have less stamina than the previous game making getting scored on trivial)\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Despite how much I love Captain Tsubasa and its prequel. This game is not worth your money at all.
Not to mentioned about the very limited offline content, the gameplay itself is so bad. I don't even know how they made it worse than RONC that released 6 years ago.
Player movement (turning) and the delay after player receiving the ball make the game is so unplayable. Best way to score is keep dribbling, only possible way to pass is to use the passing special move otherwise your player took a half year for touch the ball.
Also, they limit your CaC to equip only 2 skills and you have to choose whether it shooting, dribbling or tackling. It's just make the game feel so boring. You remove normal passing skill and limit us to get rid another? I don't even understand how they make that decision.
They also didn't provide some of the move from World Youth arc as well and that included one of the most importance "Tornado Arrow Skywing Shot". It's unbelievable.
Overall, the gameplay is bad and feel like there wasn't any aspects of the game that really well-polished.

- No more card pack microtransactions, you can learn super shots as the story goes by fulfilling missions, no points needed
- Your custom character in the story can play all positions in the field including playing as goalkeeper
- No more stats and skills. I'm listing this as good because 1. playing as defender in the first game is effectively gimping yourself unless you're picking Musashi FC because you have to score to fulfill the missions to gain more stat points, 2. you will receive less stat point if you don't win a match the first time/restarting, which is a pain when you want to trigger certain story missions, 3. you HAVE to gacha for good stat boosting items for good stat gain on the top of first win bonus/fulfilling story missions.
- You can replay all the story parts whenever you want, no more having to start a new character because you missed bringing benched character A to the match while fulfilling missions that requires chacater B to be on the field.
The Bad:
- No more Tactics to manipulate the AI teammates when you don't control them: You can't mark dangerous opponent/trigger event flag, you can't make forwarders stay farther on the field when attacked, etc,
- As the result of the above removed Tactics, some of the story missions are HARD to fulfill e.g. when you need a certain characters to tackle and another to score, but the ball never seems to go their way and you only have 30 in game minutes to do it, etc.
- Some of the overly simplified mechanics that makes this game no longer proper soccer game e.g. no more subtitution mid match, no more offside when you pass without defenders on the back, you don't even have to aim your shots to the goal of the opposide team to score, your player's current stamina no longer affect the power of their shots, any shot less than a super shot is practically useless, etc.
- When you cross into penalty box your best teammates with aerial moves will literally teleport to the penalty box. Especially bad when you can put aerial super shot on your defender and he will teleport from the back to the penalty box in an instant. Once again this happens because you don't have any way to make your teammates stay near the penalty box if you don't control them
- The character switch as a defender is BAD. The game feels like ignoring defenders nearby the opposing player controlling the ball and select far away players instead. Also you can't have 2 players pinning the opposing players now.
I will try to finish this game properly, but I can't recommend this game at full price when the mechanics in the first game are played way better than this game.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

So I finally figured out what was rubbing me wrong about this game... which I will eventually play to completion because I love CT and the lore and characters, I am 48 and I grew up with these characters way back in the 1980s.
What I loved about the first game was that I could create a character and go through their story arc with a plethora of options as to which junior high school I wanted them to originate from and which CT characters I wanted them to befriend and learn from, it was a game with virtually infinite replayability storywise. My only gripes with the game were that I never got to join one of the smaller schools like Meiwa, Azumaichi or MInamiuwa, and that once the story mode was over, there was nothing meaningful I could do with my created character other than go into the absurdly terrible online mode and play other people who were for the most part cheating to win a meaningless rank in an equally meaningless ranked mode. So what did I do, as a CT fan? I kept to story mode and enjoyed the many branches of the storyline over and over again until I had pretty much done everything I could possibly do. 2000+ hours of fun.
Now we have CT2... there's no team making, there's no character making except for the one avatar you will use in perpetuity for one reason only: Online play. The devs have forsaken the story mode players and designed the game to cater to the thirsty online cheater/nutters, they've removed stats, they removed the grinding for those stats, so now your character will be exactly the same as everyone elses, just the further you clear the game, the more of the games movesets you can swap into your guy. I assume that once you have the optimal set, there's gonna be everyone pretty much online playing with all the optimal build and nothing else. The 'story' mode is one long line of no branching options whatsoever, no choices, hell they even wrote your original character from CTRONC right out of the story itself, this 'new you' is a guy who grew up idolizing the guys from the first game and who inexplicably already plays for Sao Paulo and then inexplicably has no choice but to return to Japan to play for Nankatsu and Japan Youth eventually. No branches, no choices, just one linear gauntlet.
Oh and since there's no team making, there's just less to do now. Sadly, and I asked Bamco in their many fan questionnaires, they didn't listen to any of my suggestions. All I wanted was an expanded story mode with even more options and branches than the first game. Instead they changed the gameplay from RPG elements to Fighting Game elements and made it more multiplayer friendly, which isn't the reason I liked the game to begin with!
Tl;dr Captain Tsubasa Rise of the New Champions is for RPG players who like Captain Tsubasa,

Things I Like
The new goalie mechanic is really neat. It adds another layer to the gameplay and, in my opinion, makes the game much better than simply taking constant shots to wear down the goalkeeper.
Miracle Actions are awesome! They feel exciting and really capture the spirit of Captain Tsubasa.
The soundtrack is epic and always gets me hyped. There are also a lot of teams to choose from, which gives the game plenty of variety.
Overall, the gameplay is fun and has a lot of potential.
Things That Could Be Improved
I think they went a little overboard with all the lighting effects, sparks, and visual effects.
Sometimes, simpler is better. Not every action needs a big animation or visual effect. I think Rise of New Champions actually had a good balance in this regard. Its animations felt impactful because they weren’t happening constantly, which made the big moments stand out more.
One of the coolest things about Rise of New Champions is being able to watch a character perform an amazing dribble or see a goalkeeper make an incredible super save. The animations and cinematic actions are some of the best parts of the game. However, with all the sparks, lighting, and effects happening everywhere, they can sometimes obscure the players and make it difficult to actually see and appreciate these awesome animations.
I would strongly recommend reducing the intensity and frequency of the lighting effects. Let players actually behold and appreciate the beautiful animations instead of having them covered by flashing lights and excessive visual effects.
There are also too many animations happening during normal gameplay, which can slow down the overall flow and make matches feel less smooth and fluid.
The UI is also not very good and can be distracting, especially when combined with all the visual effects. Together, they make the game feel more cluttered and harder to follow.
The passing feels very stiff and doesn’t feel as fluid as it could be. The crossing is okay, but it could definitely use some improvement. Player teleports to the box is kinda weird, but no biggie.
Honestly, if the game had kept much of what worked in Rise of New Champions, added the new goalie mechanic, and simply expanded the roster with more teams and players, I think the game could have been much, much better. The foundation was already there. Sometimes you don’t need to change everything you just need to build on what already works.
Overall
I really enjoy this game and want to see it succeed. It has a lot of great ideas, and the core gameplay is fun. If the developers can tone down some of the visual effects, improve the flow of the animations, make the UI less distracting, and make passing feel more fluid and predictable, I think the game would be in a much better place.
I’m excited to see how the developers continue refining the game and hope they can build on its strong foundation. \n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tUnfortunately I'm in the disappointed fans camp. The game looks gorgeous and runs very well for me, no technical issues whatsoever. However most things I loved about the first game (that made me pre-purchase the sequel) seem to be gone! I loved the actual football game play and how super moves were implemented as expected from a Tsubasa game. The 50/50 dribble/tackle system was flawed to say the least but it was at least easy to follow and felt rewarding when chosen correctly. Now the gameplay feels like a tackle/dribble spam all over the place with players super tackling literally from across the screen regardless of distance. Once the gauges are full, it's a super move fest. Passing feels so weak and everything is simplified into a single button. I don't think they want you to pass and keep using dribble and super moves all the time instead. The GK minigame sounds like an interesting idea but in execution, I don't like that either; most of the time I can't react to pick a side as GK. I'm already getting tired of the Story Mode because it doesn't let me use items, build my player, increase bonds with characters to pursue moves that I like etc. You know, all the RPG elements that made the first game a wonderful single player experience are not there anymore. I'm not too excited about the visual novel aspect so far (I watched all episodes of the anime in more than one generation), probably because the actual game itself in between is not long enough or good enough to want to continue finishing episodes. I did not have this feeling when playing the story mode and new hero mode in the original.
I'm not entirely sure what they had in mind and what they went for after RONC but it doesn't seem to be doing it for me. I'll look forward to future content though, there's still hope as I love the IP.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

However, there is a big gaping hole that the developers left in the game, that I cannot not ignore. In World Fighters, you cannot create your own teams. Things like substitutions, formation changes mid match and actually being able to customise the team or improve your create a character which has literally no reason to be in the game now. The match connection is once again horrific making online matches a genuine waste of time, and the only way the AI is able to pose even a moderate amount of threat is by reading every single input you make.

After playing for about two hours, noticed significant changes in gameplay compared to the prequel, Rise of New Champions (2020) the action is faster, and chain combos are much more prominent. While it is a real treat for anime fans, personally feel it might be less appealing to neutral gamers. Gameplay was taken in a good direction, and I enjoy the more arcade-y flow of matches. Super moves are implemented in a way that I find neat, and the fact that goalkeepers feel more fleshed out is also cool. There's next to zero replayability once you've completed all of the story missions, however.
That means you either stop playing, or you suffer online.
If you're not going to add any extra modes at launch outside of barebones versus, at least have the decency to work on your game's godawful netcode. Multiplayer in RoNC was a frustrating mess, and this game is barely any better. Laggy and floaty at best, outright unresponsive at worst. On top of this, there is no crossplay between multiple platforms. Why? Why exactly was that decided? Because it's cheaper? Because you have zero faith in your product, Bamco? You're just gonna release more anime slop and make all your money back, right?

First of all, if you coming into this expecting the same game as the first one, this is not it. I have played the first one on switch and also got it on steam, I enjoyed it that much.
So what's the issue with this? First of all, there is one story mode unlike the first one. Your character feels like pointless and the story can go on without you. There is no actual customization to your char unlike the first game. Your options to change skills is very limited.
The gameplay feels very rough and at sometimes very clanky, the constant flashes and zoom in got way too much, and just to be clear I don't mind them, it's just they are way too much.
The goalkeeper new system is not fun, sometimes you can't even react in time. The constant defender charging causing more mini zoom ins and cutscenes, it feels like you barely get to play at times.
A lot of systems in the game are very confusing and even with checking training and tutorial, they are still confusing. Also, having systems that are depending on RNG that has huge impact is a weird choice.
The amount of loading times is ridiculous.
Deciding to change players, I clicked on Locker room thinking it'll let me change players mid match, but all it did was make me leave the stage, forcing me to restart it. So unless I'm missing something, you can't switch players once the match starts.
