There's a larger inventory, pets to help you a more robust crafting system, a way to finally make models of bugs you collect, better developed character stories; It's everything I wished was in the first game.
However, as much as it pains me, there are a couple major problems that make this game unplayable for me. The bugs and glitches in this game are outta control. There's a certain character in a cave that is infuriating to try and reach with a controller. You have to wiggle and place yourself in just the right spot for the enter prompt to show, but when switching to a mouse, a simple click gets you in.
The most absurd glitch just takes away what you put down in a certain area. I put down trees; they're gone. I put down a bird; it's gone. I put down a displayer that took A LOT to craft and put a shell on it; it's gone. Everything that does stay flashes, my UI disappears, and I can't move.

Yes, I have a lot of game time on this, but it's because it's still cozy in its own way and brings enjoyment, but I still cannot recommend this. Why? Because bugs are horrible and devs don't seem to be too interested in fixing them even after so many people have brought them up. Here's some of the major bugs that I find bothersome.
You have to basically be on your toes all the time worrying when the game is gonna crash. No it doesn't happen randomly but there's at least 50% chance of it crashing when you enter any building.
Whenever you wanna mass deposit items, there's at least five second lag before anything happens, and even if you deposit one by one, there's still a small lag spike with each deposit which makes storing items in the long run really frustrating.
Limited time quest items won't go away if you decide not to complete the quest and you cannot even get rid of them. The only way not to have them is just leave them somewhere until they appear in your mailbox and you just won't pick them up. In some cases you're able to use them if you get the same quest, but in most cases, at least so far, it won't work.
There's many more things that bug me, no pun intended, with this game but these are what makes it most infuriating. \n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI recommend this second part of the peaceful sandboxy original Cozy Grove - mainly because the basic gameplay is just as enjoyable as the first part was. However I also have complaints :P
I love all the small quests, the weird storylines of the new spirit bears, and especially that quests are a (real-world) daily occurence once more. I also delight in the super cute watercolor-like game world again and enjoy all the lovely small details therein, plus the random changes of said details and the (real world) seasonally different look of the game world and most resources.
I'm glad that this sequel once more refrains from any type of fighting or mob-evading action, also that the plants still don't have to be watered every day, and that animals don't require any special care, not even daily feeding. Very relaxing indeed!
The main questline - freeing regretful spirits by talking to them and fulfilling their tasks - is still cool, even though not super unique like it once was when the first Cozy Grove game was released.
The formerly novel idea of a friendly and helpful campfire being a companion is not outstanding anymore either; but still nice. There's now an additional "old" campfire as a collector though. granting you rewards for your collections and telling you adorable stories :)
I particularly enjoy the new quest type that lets you use a fish-shaped water hose (power washer) for cleanig stuff (I am a fan of cleaning games btw.) and for fighting firebugs - once again by dragging your mouse/controller into the opposite direction.
I wish there were even more new quest types or actions to find in this sequel ...
Actually, that's my main complaint: we already know most of what Camp Spirit has to offer from the first Cozy Grove game, and there has been very little improvement to the gameplay. Well, except if you have real life friends/family who also play/s the game at the same time, because in this case you can send each other random items.
The two companions / pets that can follow you around actually are able to help you with your quests, like by providing additional inventory space, selling stuff at your command, or by digging up certain resources autonomically. You can buy them a large collection of hats too.
Most other new ideas are just nice to look at, but don't really provide gameplay variety, like your little spirit scout NPC teammates who appear on your main island (1-4 cuties once every real life day) and will grant you some additional resources. Or the imps that can now wear funny hats and have been granted several new animations.
Your own character/avatar/spirit scout seems to be the least capable one in your group, since you cannot visit any of your scout friends nor send them any letters/items, but they seemingly feel the need to constantly help you and also to occasionally send you gifts. -_-
Of course you can craft and/or receive some more placeable items than in the original Cozy Grove game. There's also a new option to choose 3 of all the icons you earn by completing story quests throughout the game, but this sequence merely serves as a small additional image when exchanging items with other players.
At the old grounds (an additional island unlocked a little later on in the game) a new type of items (= nightmares) can be collected, plus some more unique items during seasonal event times like for Halloween or Christmas - even though those events have not changed much since Cozy Grove 1.
You can now add an "aura" to the look of your avatar/character, dress up a large selection of mannequins, craft models from small critters and put certain placeable stuff on tables and the like.
The spirit bears that you have freed will now "move on" while leaving statues behind instead of turning golden in the end. I guess that's also the reason why more machines (crafting stations) exist in this game that will help with daily work instead of bears like in the first Cozy Grove game.
Other than that, this sequel is just "more of the same" actually.
Okay, some spirit bears now move around during their questline a little instead of staying put, storywise some know each other and interact a little amongst each other (mainly "outgame" so they will just tell you that they have been talking "yesterday") and some of them have their own dwellings now, instead of staying outside all day and night.
These rooms, caves, tree hollows and houses often appear colorless inside when their inhabitants ask for main story quests, then will later on be granted colors after the quests have been finished.
Tis is nice, because players usually quickly change the pale black/brownish & white/beige parts of their islands into colorful ones by placing light sources everywhere.
On the other hand, my game tends to crash once in a while when changing locations, like when entering or leaving said accommodations... :/
And then there are those annoying little problems... I wouldn't call them bugs though.
First of all, spirit bears and NPCs tend to show up way too close to sources of raw materials and the cooking station, or sometimes the other way round - resources can spawn directly behind NPCs that then conceal them, making it a reeeal pain to use the nodes/bushes/oven and so on.
The game has been out for 2 years and this issue has not been addressed yet?!
Like in the first game, it's still hard to navigate your character to a specific spot, instead your spirit scout tends to run up and stick to the closest item like lanterns or other light sources. This is most often an issue when using the dowsing rod.
Placing stuff is now more restricted than before, since lots of ground is already reserved for foliage and stuff. Also placable trees require a LOT more space than before (9 squares instead of only 1), but clicking on one of them often nonetheless lets your character use another one right next to it...
The long beach of Camp Spirit is full of blackish rocks that make it hard to spot dark colored shells.
And the tooltop for blossoms suggest taking them to Francesca, but this spirit bear didn't make it to Camp Spirit (yet), she's probably still back on the original Cozy Grove Island.
The cliffs have nice details like old statues! But those also conceal all the fish swimming behind them, so you can't always make sure not to hit any fish when casting your fishing rod.
And the possibly most annoying things are those trees so extremely close to the upper borders of the island that you cannot make them transparent, since you cannot place your character behind them. You can only hope that aren't any fish in the water hidden by foliage, because there's no way for you to know.

And the possibly most annoying things are those trees so extremely close to the upper borders of the island that you cannot make them transparent, since you cannot place your character behind them. You can only hope that aren't any fish in the water hidden by foliage, because there's no way for you to know.
