\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI bought Vapor World: Over The Mind mainly because I wanted to support the developers and the project. The game caught my attention from the first time I saw it, especially the art style and dark atmosphere. It has its own identity and I really like what the team is trying to build here.
I know this is Early Access, so I'm not expecting a finished game. There is still a lot of room for improvement, especially with combat responsiveness, movement, UI and overall performance. Sometimes the controls don't feel as smooth or precise as I would like, and there are still some bugs and rough edges.
But honestly, the potential is there.
The art direction is probably my favorite part of the game. I also like the combat ideas and I'm interested to see where the story goes once the remaining episodes and ending are added.
I just hope the developers don't rush the game. Take your time, polish what is already here and listen to the community.

The combat is visceral, punchy with excellent hit feedback. Enemy attacks are well telegraphed and the animations are on point. This game is like Salt and Sanctuary or Vigil: The Longest Night but with more beefy combat.
My complaints so far are the HUD and voice acting. The HUD is so incredibly basic, it has zero color, just black and white and it's very small. I can barely distinguish between the health and energy meters. It really needs a rework asap. The voice acting sounds like AI. It really takes me out. But I don't play these games for the story. Combat revolves heavily around parrying—there's a slight learning curve, but once the timing clicks, reading enemy patterns and countering feels super punchy and satisfying. Since it's still in Early Access, there's definitely some rough edges around the UI, controls, and overall QoL that could use more polish. first things first, I was interested in this game but gave it a hard pass when the heavy AI usage was revealed and only bought it when the devs removed the AI from it.
.....except that's not true. they removed the AI CUTSCENES (which I'm told were awful anyway) but they for some reason kept the AI voice acting? even if I wasn't against AI, the voice over is absolutely awful and if the devs insist on keeping this trash in game, at least give me an option to turn the voice overs off. I would legitimately prefer no voice at all to this. every character both sounds uninterested in the conversation they are in AND sounds like they are trying to breathily whisper you a ghost story, even in situations where people should be yelling. it really takes away from the game.
onto the actual combat; its good when it works, but its trying too hard to be sekiro. Sekiro had a poise/stance meter that you dealt damage to in order to stagger enemies to deal a killing blow. the same works here. except in sekiro, you also had a health meter. which you for some reason don't in vapor world? I cant tell you the number of times I was fighting a boss and got hit and just went down, with me not knowing i was even CLOSE to death. you get a lil estus flask type thing but it takes so long to use and i don't even know if I'm using it properly since again, I cant see my health.
Vapor World is a neat Idea and a neat aesthetic, but you need more than those to make a good game. once it sees some gameplay polish and hopefully more AI removal, I will say yes. but for now, wait and see.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

The bosses in particular had much more varied patterns than I expected. I felt that the boss mechanics were quite impressive, especially for an indie game.
Among them, the Agent boss was particularly difficult, but also the most fun. I really enjoyed the fast-paced combat, and I thought the game’s hit feedback was also excellent.
