\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tSo I love everything about what's currently in the game so far bar maybe 1 or 2 things.
First, the games environment is amazing and often times has that cool thalasophobia feel of the first game, which i really like.
Second, I like the current variety of creatures in the game so far. Lots of different fish/leviathans and the like currently in the game and i can't wait for more.
Third, the base building is just as intuitive as the first two games and i like the way the tadpole feels when driving it through the water.
Fourth, the story so far seems pretty engaging. Not much else to say on that. I like the story, creature design, map design, and how big the environment feels.
Now onto the one thing that irks me a bit. Invincible fauna or invincible unharmable creatures. I understand that the devs want to take an approach that promotes non violence. However, it is very heavy handed in this game in that you can't even wack a predator on the nose with your tool to make it go away. I just think that's incredibly unrealistic to the point of breaking my suspension of belief.
I understand not wanting players to just kill everything, but the fact is that even in the first two games, that's not what most players were doing anyways. Most people never killed a leviathan and most people just hit creatures to make them go away or to stop the continuous attacks. The vast majority of people were already playing within the spirit of the game. Making the creatures essentially immortal in a SURVIVAL game doesn't make a lick of sense. You have to kill the tiny fish and slugs for food and water anyways, so why stop players from defending themselves and driving creatures away the most natural way possible, with a bop to the nose or body.
It feels restrictive. Like those invisible boundaries in some call of duty campaigns that restrict where you can go, except these boundaries are in an open world survival game where it doesn't make any sense. Fighting to survive is natural and taking that aspect of the natural world out of a survival game is just silly.
Just don't add stasis or freeze weapons. That's how the people who like to kill the leviathans did it 90% of the time anyways.
Like i can't even save my friend from a predator by ramming my tadpole into it. Ramming a probably 800 lb underwater vehicle into an animal should elicit some reaction from the animal that would allow my friend to escape without a scratch. It's just too unrealistic for a suspension of belief.
Anyways, that's my little rant. Outside of the invincible everything, the game is legitamately good and i do recommend it. It's still a fun experience, but that immersion of the first subnautica just isn't there currently.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tThe biggest letdown for me in Subnautica 2 is the complete absence of underground tunnel systems. In the original, those sprawling cave networks and depth layouts gave the game its sense of mystery and danger. Using the scanner room to map out caves hundreds of meters down was one of the most rewarding parts of exploration. Here, that whole layer of gameplay feels stripped away, and without it the world feels flatter and less immersive. For a sequel, I expected them to build on that depth, not remove it.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Very annoying that so many people had to buy the game and give them money to only find out that it slop. The argument that i should give them time is dumb also. If you don't mind supporting the game and developers early, i'd say buy it. The game feels pretty well thought out so far, and the environments are some of the most beautiful and interesting to explore in the Subnautica universe to date. Unknown Worlds really have taken the best from the first two games and put it into SN2!!

As for the actual gameplay, the game is absolutely gorgeous. I would prefer if it were a bit better optimized for lower power systems like my own, but I was still able to get a smooth 50-60 fps on medium settings, which still managed to look better than a lot of other games.
I didn't personally experience too many bugs, especially not ones that would interrupt my gameplay in any meaningful way. There was the occasional dancing fish or teleporting creature, but that's not a super big deal for me. Most were just funny.
I only really have one big issue with the game right now: you can't really do anything to fight back against hostile creatures. I've tried using various tools to push them away or scare them off but nothing seems to work, and it can be very frustrating constantly getting rammed or shot while trying to explore or gather resources.

I'm going to do the unthinkable and mention things I didn't like and how i hope they fix it or improve it in the future. Beacause it's early access i'm going to assume everything i mention is for the purpose of early access and changes later.
I disliked the lack of building in early access. It felt as though there wasnt enough to even "test" very much of anything. I can only assume they were more focused on the rest of the game so this didn't bother me too much. Just felt like they went for a just throw your stuff in a square in check out all this cool stuff we laid out for you. I assume there will be more in the future.
I cannot stand the hammerhead guys. i assume later there will be a way to kill them but for now all they do is keep ramming my base and i have nothing to defend it or shoe them away. maybe a shock knife just to get them away? or any of the old knives? I'd just love for them to stop blocking my scenery that i built my base by.
The silver deposit you find closer to the end of the game is utterly useless. Everything can and probably is already made by the time you find it. Not sure if this was made specifically for speed runners but there was no purpose to it at least in my playthrough. Even if this becomes useful later there is no way to enjoy that much silver ore. Maybe make something silver can be turned into that you need a bunch for? Fuel source for a alien vehicle?
I felt like the perk that helps you find your way back was very undervalued due to the marks you could leave on the map. It would be nice to see something that is truly a confusing maze so something like that has more benefit.
Things I enjoyed was the upgrade system. It added a cool new flex on my friends where they needed me to show them where they were. Felt very metroid primey and i love that series.
I also enjoyed not having to look up a guide to know where to find certain ores. it was quite refreshing to KNOW where things were on my own.
Lastly multiplayer was really nice I enjoyed being able to bring my friends along and we all make our own houses. I watched the most recent developer blog and think pulling items out your teammates backpacks is cool. HOWEVER PLEASEEEEE make sure to allow a lock if I want so my teammates don't steal my last water :(
All in all I would say this game Is a little too Early access. If I wasn't such a fan I would tell people to hold off and maybe wait a few more updates if they wanted to truly enjoy this game. At the moment someone who is new might find it a bit boring/frustrating.
