Personally, I believe that the reviews are only so high because the original game was much loved. Subnautica 2 is not a worthy successor of the original.
The better graphics actually harm this game. The first had a soul, quirks, and therefore some charm. This new game gives corpo slop vibes. There's something missing from it, it feels lifeless in the same way AI generated content feels lifeless.
Subnautica 2 feels like a sterile shadow of the first, and that's because the lifelike elements have been removed. The story is not great; "Oh you died? That's fine, we'll just print you in a new body!" Ok, so, what's the point? All consequence and risk have been removed (from a narrative point of view, there are of course mechanical downsides to dying) if the player can just print new bodies.
The removal of the survival knife, and the general en-safening / non-violence stance taken on everything in the game is completely ridiculous.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

It is no longer a free exploration <Survival> horror game. It is heavily bloated with pointless dialogue, pretty meaninglessprogression and finally, you can not harm mobs when it matters. Like when there is a shark in a cave you spend some time doing puzzles, but you can only falre it, making it lobotomized for 5 seconds, in which you are free to do wahtever you want. But, ofcours, eating fish alive is nothing to worry about, god forbid you try to actually defend yourself on an alien <Hostile> planet.

Mining is slightly easier, the tools are excellent, and the way you progress is also excellent, lots of new creatures, new tech and new aliens to explore, if you enjoyed the first game Sub 1 you will likely love this game also.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

In its current state, I don't think this game is ready for Early Access. It feels more like a polished beta - or even a really solid demo - of what the final game could become. The core gameplay mechanics are very similar to the original, probably around 80% the same, which isn't necessarily a bad thing because the first game's formula worked so well. My biggest question is: where's the content?
Right now, there simply isn't enough to do. I completed all of the available content as of August 5th in about a week, and I wasn't rushing through it. Considering how much of the gameplay is borrowed from the first game, I expected a lot more exploration, progression, and story content.
The game also still has quite a few bugs. While I understand that Early Access games are works in progress, there are enough technical issues that they frequently break immersion and remind you that the game isn't finished.
I have no doubt this game has tremendous potential. The atmosphere, visuals, and foundation are all there, and I believe it will eventually become a worthy successor to the original. However, I think it's going to need another year or two of development before it reaches that point.
If you're a huge Subnautica fan and don't mind paying to experience the game as it evolves, you'll probably enjoy seeing its progress. But if you're looking for a complete experience, I'd recommend waiting until the full release. Right now, it simply isn't ready for prime time.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

My biggest question is: where's the content?
Right now, there simply isn't enough to do. I completed all of the available content as of August 5th in about a week, and I wasn't rushing through it. Considering how much of the gameplay is borrowed from the first game, I expected a lot more exploration, progression, and story content.
The game also still has quite a few bugs. While I understand that Early Access games are works in progress, there are enough technical issues that they frequently break immersion and remind you that the game isn't finished.
I have no doubt this game has tremendous potential. The atmosphere, visuals, and foundation are all there, and I believe it will eventually become a worthy successor to the original. However, I think it's going to need another year or two of development before it reaches that point.
If you're a huge Subnautica fan and don't mind paying to experience the game as it evolves, you'll probably enjoy seeing its progress. But if you're looking for a complete experience, I'd recommend waiting until the full release. Right now, it simply isn't ready for prime time.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

I played in co-op. We didn't rush the game, but it still only took us about 19 hours to reach the endgame in its current state. That's why I left a "Not Recommended" review. I will change it back to "Recommended" once the game gets enough content.

- play around with the vehicle (4 of them), unlock every upgrade for every ship(crafting upgrade)

Leviathans are not scary, and for some reason stupid music starts to play when leviathan is nearby. Who is this made for?
