The theme is amazing. The soundtrack elevates the theme to insane heights. Dynasty Warriors but in scotland is just a slam-dunk.
There's so much meat on this game even in this initial early access stage. 3 heroes who each have multiple equipment pieces (including multiple weapons per hero, which completely change their movesets, like turning the parry-heavy Wallace into a dodge-focused character). An ascension difficulty system. A metric ton of items, both baseline and unlockable. Different captains and companions to recruit and help buildcraft before you even start a run.
And, most importantly, the game is just fun. The hero movesets are simple enough (at least on base weapons, some weapons do get tricky lol) that you don't have to constantly go back to the pause menu to look at your combo list, but complex enough that you feel like you have multiple responses to different types of enemies at every point. Objectives and maps are incredibly varied, and even repeating the same map with different Clan builds, different weapons, different objectives, etc ends up staying fresh and exciting.

The art style looks great, the battles are absolutely insane, and unlocking new upgrades keeps every run exciting. I also love that you can recruit and unlock new characters, adding even more variety to the gameplay. If you're a fan of fast-paced action with plenty of progression, this one is definitely worth playing!

While it's a Roguelite/like, it's also a hack and slash and Scottish/Comic Book reincarnation of Dynasty Warriors 2+. Easy to learn, hard to master (memorizing different enemy attack patterns and block timings, etc.)
It runs well on Linux via Proton 11, at 1440p and around 100-120fps average on max graphics settings.
I'm still just scratching the surface, but I did play the demo and this is every bit as good as that and now more. More fun with friends, but still plenty of fun solo.
The sound design is great, and the soundtrack goes hard too (who would have thought bagpipes and metal would mesh so well?).
This game makes me lose all track of time and honestly makes me feel like I'm a kid again, where I'm just in the moment.

The combat feels great, the gameplay loop is addictive, and it's easy to lose track of time doing "just one more run." Something else I thought was pretty cool is the developers. They clearly care about the game and are actively listening to the community, which makes me excited to see where it goes. This game is like a roguelike version of Dynasty Warriors but in Scotland. Honestly, if this was the direction Dynasty Warriors had went they would be super popular. This game combines so many unique and cool features that just aren't seen that much in video gaming today,────────────────────
It is very much build your own adventure with all the options it gives to manipulate everything pre battle, during battle, and afterward. This game makes me feel like it was made by people that want to game for fun.
The roguelike elements really are a prefect fit for this game.
