while cute and charming at first, the consecutive introduction of new mechanics and mini-games distracted from key objectives without always directly supporting the main progression – or so it felt. it tries too much to be everything all at once, and whether intentional or not, it wasn’t for me.

The game does a really good job of mixing different types of gameplay. You spend your days diving and exploring, then use what you catch to run the restaurant at night. As you progress, you unlock new areas, equipment, recipes, quests, and plenty of other stuff. There’s always something going on, which makes it really easy to keep playing.

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI played a lot of this game, but I don't recommend it. First 5-10 hours were fun, getting into the loops and finding new fish and places to explore. After that it gets kinda tedious and they throw way too much disparate stuff at the wall.
Why is a whole part of the seapeople story just bad balatro?
The shoehorned in content with mxmtoon didn't add anything to the game, comes out of nowhere and doesn't make sense.
Later game boss battles get extremely difficult, but don't add new fun mechanics or challenges. They just make the enemies faster and have more health. The shark you have to battle for the old lady during the storm is my best example. They make the large animal able to change directions faster than you, rotate, swim up and down, etc. AND have seemingly endless health. They are just long slogs of slowly chipping down at their nebulous health without much feedback.
The game just overstays its welcome. The franchise element is added too late. Patrons leave too quickly when there are dirty plates at a spot they sit in; it would make sense if you could eventually upgrade your own walk speed or employee training was more transparent/cheaper.
Maxed out harpoon gun is still way too weak. You end up shooting larger fish over and over and over. Powerful guns reduce the quality of meat, but sharks and large creatures will burst right out of the cable nets that get picked up by the little submarine. You can get crazy too much health, and massive carrying capacity but the harpoon gun doesn't keep up.
There needs to be better automation options at the farm/fish farm. It's boring and Sammy is crazy expensive until late game when you're making so much money it doesn't matter anyway.
Some really clunky translation and localization work. Especially later in the game. Really stilted dialogue that doesn't flow or feel natural, or feel like what the characters are trying to portray. As the game got further, you get less invested
You eventually get the underwater fish guide but I don't see a great way to highlight undiscovered fish. This seems like it could be a collectathon/achievement chase perfection, instead you just swim around endlessly through the same places. Then you do it again at night. And again the next day in all the same locations with the same animals. Once you max out depth the story doesn't do enough to keep you invested.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

The characters are memorable, and their stories make the world feel alive .The music is absolutely on the point and fits the atmosphere perfectly. There’s also a lot to collect, making this a great game for anyone who enjoys collecting and completing things. I took interest because I saw Nexon was invovled, and despite their lack of MMO game management, I know their team is excellent. Necord is an absolute blast of a company that produced incredible soundtracks.
Came for the soundtracks... Where are they?
There are very little soundtrack options - you are usually diving with the same track playing, which has greatly disappointed me knowing Necord is invovled, and knowing what they are capable of. I can't understand how you sent them to make those stupid mini game fake kpop songs instead of actual in-game soundtrack.
As a HUGE fan of Maplestory BGM, this has immensely disappointed me
Boss fights were not fun for me. John watson is a great example of a poorly designed boss.
Not because it was hard, but it was truly unenjoyable. His fight is built around swimming in circles and hoping he doesn't shoot the rocket into the ceiling, which is possible. The swing mechanic doesn't return the rocket in the way you expect it to, which is something the game lacks in general. Things that should be intuitive don't work the way they "should"...
The exploration is fun, but sometimes the fish movement and mechanics just screw you for no reason. I have died plenty in well planned runs(oxygen levels, weight limit, depth limit knowledge) because an enemy decided to bounce off a wall in an unexpected way and suddenly damage me.
I think the death in this game is fair, but I can't defend the weird animal movement and inaccurate hitboxes. This game is supposed to reward risky play(stronger fish give meat that produces expensive dishes), but it is impossible when fish hit you when you don't actually collide with them. It makes playing 'risky' very unrewarding, and instead rewards long ranged combat which is way less interesting.
Finally, I would like to address the holding of hands, in the wrong areas of the game.
Instead of explaining to me what my stats related to waiters actually do, or allowing me to understand before a service, how much I would spend on my staff members - which is where they SHOULD help you out, they hold your hand in every single puzzle, without the slightest chance to try and understand it on your own.
Every time there was an opportunity for me to solve a maze, the game is paused, a text box that describes EXACTLY what to do appears, and then the game is unpaused.
I can't stand games that make you feel stupid. I think it's fair to say that this game is fantastic at assuming you are absolutely useless and must be shown how to play.

There is something incredibly satisfying about filling out the entire Marinca, getting everything to three stars, and eventually looking at a screen full of golden cards. At some point I wasn't even playing because the game was difficult anymore — I was just determined to finish the achievements and complete every collection I could.
The diving itself is also genuinely good. The oxygen and weight systems constantly force you to decide whether one more fish or one more piece of loot is worth the risk. My longest single dive somehow lasted almost two hours, which probably says enough about how easy it is to get carried away down there.
The story isn't anything extraordinary, but it's charming enough, and the pixel art, music, and general atmosphere make the whole game extremely comfortable to play. I also liked how the crossover content was handled. Balatro, DREDGE, and Godzilla all felt like fun additions instead of advertisements awkwardly shoved into the game. The constant introduction of new mechanics never bothered me either; most of them helped keep the game fresh.
The only part I really didn't enjoy was the pet-raising minigame. It felt much more tedious than it needed to be.
The late game is actually easier than the beginning once you have enough upgrades and money, but by then the challenge isn't really the point anymore. For me, it became a completionist game — and a very satisfying one.

Progress slows down significantly, new mechanics are added that just pad and slow down gameplay without adding much, restaurant service has become impossible to manage even with the best staff I can buy, Fish take so long to catch even with the best gear I have been able to grind out, constant interruptions to gameplay and notifications cluttering the UI; and the straw that broke the camels back was at the end of my last play session getting railroaded into 20+ minutes of cutscenes and dialogue.
If you love the vibe and aesthetic and want to spend a few hours catching some fish with no intention of beating the game, then its a great game for you, but I can't see most players actually grinding to the finish of this game.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

They give you a fun concept (go see how deep you can go to get tasty fish you can make sushi out of!), and you think what a perfect game! And then suddenly you reach the bottom of the ocean --- and its all over. Now its a RPG fetch quest rhythm game farming sim card collecting mess. They make it seem like a rouge-like speardiving game, but its just not. Also I just found out that its a shell company and not really an indie title.
I did enjoy the early game animations, art, dialogue etc. and I would recommend this title for someone who wants 5-10 hours of cute fun diving, but personally I most likely wont be visiting this title again. This game would be so much more replayable if they developed the fishing/biomes/sushi to be the CORE gameloop instead of just the bait.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

The Cut Scenes the Story is a MUST PLAY for anyone. easily got into the game and started exploring myself and i eventually have 6+ hrs in a week. I can't play most of the time but when I have time i definitely always on this game. 10/10 recommend playing atleast once for anyone out there.
