\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tAfter finishing and getting the platinum for Dave The Diver it ended up being one of the most charming and genuinely fun games I’ve played in a long time. The game never takes itself too seriously, and that’s honestly its biggest strength, just when you settle into the gameplay loop, it throws some absurdly hilarious cutscene, random mini game, or over the top moment at you that somehow only makes the experience better. What surprised me most is how flexible the game is: you can focus almost entirely on diving, running the sushi restaurant, farming fish, completing side quests, taking photos, or cleaning the ocean floor, and each part feels satisfying enough to carry the game on its own. The characters are lovable, the animated scenes are packed with personality, and the atmosphere is fantastic. Despite the repetitive structure, the gameplay stays consistently engaging because every dive feels different depending on what fish, upgrades, or objectives you’re chasing. The diving can definitely get tense and frustrating at times; losing almost your entire inventory after dying is brutal, and sneaking past aggressive sharks sometimes feels like a stealth game, but that challenge adds real excitement and makes successful dives feel rewarding.

None of the harpoon mechanics feel very good. The sea people are insufferable and their fetch quests are intolerable. Restaurant management is the best element in my opinion, but there's not enough. Fish farming seems cool but when it can be unlocked there's already a lot of burnout suffered (especially if you get soft-locked at pulling out stakes and need to restart).
The music is great for the first 30mins but the same track playing every time you enter the water or manage the restaurant gets very very old. The jukebox functionality could be vastly more functional, meaning it could actually play the track you select while you play the game itself.

The gameplay is a satisfying loop: you dive in the morning & afternoon into a beautiful blue hole, which gets deeper and deeper as you progress, catching all kinds of fish and then using your catches to run a sushi bar in the evening. During the course of the game, you gain access to all kinds of catching mechanics: different harpoons, knives, traps, guns, nets, bombs, etc. This loop, as well as the catching mechanics themselves, makes this a perfect casual game as well a game with great depth for people searching for that.
By collecting different kinds of parts and ingredients, you can upgrade your equipment and refine your sushi dishes! There are also many "boss" fish, like sharks or whales, each with its own behaviors and mechanics.
Later on, between dives, you also have to manage your vegetable and chicken farm, as well as your fish farm! The developers integrated many entertaining - and sometimes really innovative - mini-games into the gameplay.
The art style is lovely pixel art mixed with over-the-top humor. The cutscenes actually made me laugh a few times, as the game doesn't take itself too seriously. Some of the deeper & darker areas can even be a little bit creepy...
The storytelling, in my opinion, is phenomenal. The game starts off quite casual & relaxing but then literally pulls you deeper & deeper into a thrilling as well as entertaining story about saving the Blue Hole, with a clear focus on environmental awareness and xenophobia. Each day takes forever to finish and you are pulled in 6 different directions by sidequests. And the cutscenes just do not end.

At night, the restaurant is open, providing an entirely different kind of game play that can be at times, frustrating, but at times surprisingly rewarding. And regardless of what else, it helps provide a counter point to the diving you do during the day, giving the game "greater depth".

HOWEVER !
This was not the case with Dave the Diver, from the moment of installation I was harpooned and reeled in, from the various stunning ocean backdrops, vast amount of fish you can catch, boss battles, the sushi restaurant, story line, and the list goes on, Dave the Diver definitely ticked all my boxes.
I am super excited to see the continued developement of the game with the upcoming "In The Jungle" DLC and hopefully it won't stop there.
If you haven't played it, I would highly recomend giving it a try.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

This game is incredibly fun. It oozes charm. It's addicting. It's challenging without being frustrating. It's easygoing without being boring. The graphics are incredible. The characters are loveable. I would say that if you're only buying this game for the roguelite tag, you might want to reconsider. There is some elements of a roguelite here, but I felt like the randomized elements were pretty lacking. Each area only had a few variants it would cycle through. Some didn't vary at all. Loot would vary, but not in any meaningful way. I don't mean this as a slight to the game. Each map feels beautifully crafted. I think procedural generation would've diminished from that. Still, though, it bears mentioning.
It also bears mentioning that the movement speed is quite slow. It didn't feel so bad when I started playing, but towards the end of my playtime I found it frustrating. Some areas are large and open and so, so slow to traverse. And you'll have to do it over and over again.
I found the endgame pretty lacking. Eventually, most ingredients are easily farmable. I stopped having a reason to dive-- which sucked because that was my favorite part of the game.

To be honest catching fish and marketing simulation part is totally okey really intriguing, discovering new regions, new fishes, new weapons and new food were really fantastic but after 10 hours---after discovering sea people village the game becomes a waste time, lots of design of the missions were totally meaningless, the dining centre and the guardians are only 10 meters away from each other why do I need to pass them the lunch. The puzzle design in the later half of this game was even an upgrade version of wasting time, they are not letting me feel accomplishment but torturing. My strongest desire is to catch fish this is the reason I buy this game, I push the main story line only to discover new regions and new fishes but when I got a bulk of fishes in my package and found that I have to do a lot of meaningless puzzles in order to reach new regions, dude that moment is really disappointing.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t
