But the main thing I don't like completely ruins it: it's just too hard to tell what's going on in combat. <br><br>Units blend into backgrounds. Movement shadows are a visual disaster, and are close to the color of the hexes to begin with. Enemies sometimes look too much like allies. Trees/forests are a nightmare for visibility. Uncontrollable allies have the same unit color as you. Everything is a mash of green/grey/brown with no contrast. Enemies don't show their remaining health so I have to click on them every time to see it, which is painfully slow. And there's no text/UI scaling.<br><br>If you're fighting non-humanoid enemies in an open space in the daytime, it's not so bad. But it seems that many/most battles are not like that, so they're just terrible. Such a shame because I think it could have been a 6.5/10 game if I could tell wtf is going on in combat. With the visual issues that can't be fixed without a complete rework... it's more like a 3.<br><br><br><br>Editing to add I went back and looked at Warbanners again and it was actually BETTER in terms of combat visibility. I'm not sure how they managed to improve almost everything except what's literally most important in a turn-based tactial game. <br><br>That's pretty much a limetime blacklist for this dev now, feels incomplete<br><br>There is nearly no information (and meaning) if you chose to make a mission during morning, evening or night... there should be some explanation on what you could get and what you could lose. <br><br>Some modes where you are supposed to kills only the bosses, have no bonus or advantages in doing so or going frenzy and kill the whole map.<br><br>Battle mechanisms are highly repetitive, little to none variation.<br><br>and randomness generation of units is just annoying rather than rewarding. <br><br>If there was at least a very appealing story to make you hooked but i But there are other similar games out there that are better. The static action cost for everything makes little sense and limits you to one action per round only, with perhaps a single or two movement. Other slightly annoying features, too. The strategy is built around ranged attacks being king in the game. Charge with melee units against enemy ranged units and you'll be decimated, so you rely heavily on ranged units to do that same thing and archers are #1.
