I know the developers are kind of hesitant about making the game PvE because they originally sold it as a PvPvE experience. But, to be honest, I played for almost an entire month when the game was released, and the main reason I stopped playing was the campers and the really bad experiences that came with them.

I would spend hours farming, fighting, and preparing just to take down a big ARC, only for some guy with a free loadout to take everything from me—or, more often than not, kill me while I was extracting.

I also remember reading for months about the really bad hacker problem the game was dealing with. I never personally played during that period, so I can't speak from experience about how bad it actually was, but seeing all the reports and discussions about hackers definitely made the situation look even worse.

I get it. PvP is part of the experience, and for some people, that's what makes the game fun. At first, I was like that too. I think that's how most people feel when a cool and innovative game like ARC Raiders first comes out. There's something exciting about the constant risk of losing everything and getting into fights with other players.

But at some point, I realized that wasn't what I wanted anymore.

I just wanted to experience the game for what I personally found most enjoyable: fighting ARCs, exploring the world, completing quests, and enjoying the vibrant world that Embark Studios created—a world that, in some aspects, feels more alive than our own.

I actually downloaded the game again after deleting it many months ago, simply because they announced a PvE experience test that will last for a week. They have said that it isn't a permanent update, but honestly, all I want to say is that, for that week, I'm going back to dust off my Raider gear and spend as much time as I can killing ARCs and enjoying the world without having to worry about another player waiting around the corner.

Whatever happens after that week, I'm just glad I get to experience ARC Raiders this way again, even if it's only temporary.

I originally left a positive review and considered changing it to negative until the developers make PvE a permanent option. However, Steam warned me that changing my review would clear the ratings it had received. I decided not to make that change because I don't want to lose the visibility the review has gained or the opportunity for new buyers and players to read the discussion and make an informed decision. I'll continue playing ARC Raiders because I still enjoy the game.

I know I said I wouldn't reply to the discussion again, so this is my final clarification.

Regarding free loadouts, when the game first released, I sometimes encountered players using them match after match, looking for easy kills or waiting for others to fight ARCs before trying to take their loot. That can get frustrating. To be fair, in the last few weeks since returning, I haven't experienced this nearly as much. My recent sessions have been much more cooperative, and the game has almost felt like PvE without actually being PvE.

I've also seen mixed opinions from popular streamers and YouTubers about PvE. Their opinions are valid, but content creators who spend hours playing games as part of their jobs may experience ARC Raiders differently from casual players. Many of us have jobs and other responsibilities, with limited time to play. Sometimes we just want to explore, fight ARCs, and progress at our own pace. Neither perspective is more valid than the other, but casual players deserve to have their voices heard too.

I'm not saying PvP is bad or should be removed. I simply believe a separate PvE option could let players focus on fighting ARCs, exploring, and completing quests without worrying about other players. Those who enjoy PvPvE could continue playing as they do now. **PvE could be an optional toggle, giving players a choice without taking anything away from either side.**

You can enjoy PvPvE and still acknowledge that PvE and PvPvE can coexist. I hope the developers consider this possibility because giving players more choices could make the game enjoyable for a wider community.

I really wanted to like Arc Raiders, and for a while I did. I find the setting and base playstyle super compelling. Here's the catch. I work a job, I take care of my kids, and I find myself with only an hour or so a night to game. I found myself taking 2-3 days to farm the resources needed to achieve a respectable trial score, making my run in my typical friendly oriented lobby, and then making a heart-pounding adrenaline-fueled extraction as someone tries to kill me at the elevator. That or I would die and I lose several days of progress in a blink. It would ruin my night of sleep, and I found myself asking: "Why am I doing this to myself?"

Maybe a younger me with less responsibilities would be able to enjoy this more. Now, though, I'm uninstalling.\t\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\tAfter 430 hours, I don’t really feel like I can judge ARC Raiders the same way someone would after playing it for a few hours. At this point I’ve spent enough time with the game to see both why I keep coming back for another raid and the things that start getting annoying when you’ve played the same loop for a very long time.

The core gameplay loop is probably what keeps me here. You go in, look for loot, deal with ARC machines, keep an eye out for other players, and eventually try to get out with what you’ve found. It’s a simple idea, but the decisions become much more meaningful once you’re carrying something you actually don’t want to lose. Do I stay a little longer and risk everything for more loot, or do I just leave while things are going well? That risk/reward feeling is a big part of why I can still enjoy the game after 430 hours.

I also like how the PvE and PvP don’t feel completely separate. You’re dealing with ARC machines while also having to think about what other players might be doing nearby. Hearing a fight in the distance or suddenly realizing another player might be around can completely change how you approach a situation. Sometimes you don’t even want a PvP fight, but the possibility of one is always part of the decision-making. For me, that’s one of the strongest parts of the extraction gameplay.

Looting and managing your gear become much more important the longer you play. You can’t take everything, and you shouldn’t. What you decide to carry, what you leave behind and how much you’re willing to risk all become part of the raid. The classic extraction game problem is always there: a raid is going really well, you already have enough, but you think “I’ll stay just a little longer.” That’s usually when things get interesting.

The weapons and combat feel good to me overall. Winning a fight isn’t only about aim. Positioning, awareness, knowing when to push and knowing when not to fight matter a lot. The ARC machines also help keep the game from feeling like it’s only about PvP. They can be a direct threat, but they can also affect how you approach other players and how a fight develops.

The maps and atmosphere do a lot for the experience too. There’s a constant feeling that staying in one place for too long might be a bad idea. Sound design is especially important here. After enough hours, you start recognizing sounds and paying attention to things you probably wouldn’t even notice when you’re new.

Solo and team play also feel noticeably different. With a squad, communication and coordination become much more important. Solo, you’re responsible for reading almost everything yourself, so mistakes feel more personal and every encounter can be a little more stressful. I enjoy both, but they definitely don’t play the same way.

Of course, after 430 hours, the weak points are easier to notice too. The repetition becomes more obvious, and not every raid has the same level of tension or excitement. Some runs are incredibly engaging, while others can turn into slow, overly cautious sessions. Losing a good haul after spending a long time collecting it can also be genuinely frustrating, especially when it happens because of one bad decision.

Still, I’ve put 430 hours into this game for a reason. It isn’t perfect, and I definitely have moments where I close the game annoyed. But somehow I still find myself thinking about doing “one more raid” and loading back in. After this many hours, that’s probably the most honest review I can give it.\t\t\t\t\t

Recent matchmaking where shooting people back doesn't put you into PvP lobbies has been a great addition to me. I can definitely agree that more content would be great but, me personally, I can barely keep up with content as it is so maybe there's a balance. \n\t\t\t\t\tI loved this game and had a blast in the beginning when people talked, laughs were shared and fun was had..... but today isn't the case. I see they're releasing a PvE Lite server event (Oct 13th - 20th 2026) showing their PvPvE more "fun" model isn't as successful long term as they hoped, but here's my take.

Why "PvE Lite Event" Will Fail

• The Problem with "Lite" Restraints: Reducing loot values and locking endgame content (like the Frigate) treats PvE players like they are in a tutorial. PvE players want real progression, real risk from AI, and a separate, independent economy—not a watered-down version of the PvP map.

• The PvP Burnout is Real: Forcing casual players to be "content" for hyper PvP players/cheaters ruins the social fun. Squads are logging off because the game has turned into a silent, sweaty chore. Making the developer's idea of "fun" the minority.

• Embrace the Lore and Scale: Instead of relying on cheap, lazy PvP friction, lean into the massive sci-fi world you built. We want epic, server-wide co-op events:

• Mega Raids: Squads banding together to scale and dismantle the giant ARC machines moving across the map from the inside out.

• Emergent Swarm Events: Map-wide alarms that force rival squads to sprint into bunkers, drop their hostility, and barricade/weld doors to survive overwhelming AI waves together.

• The Bottom Line: Look at the industry data (Tarkov's PvE mode, Sea of Thieves' Safer Seas). Separate tracks make immense financial sense. Don't let developer ego or the fear of splitting the player base kill a beautiful world. Give PvE players a reason to stay.

Here's hoping this finds Embark one day.....

Edit- Tried the PvE event and sure enough we trade rats for loot goblins. People who wait on the side lines for you to take down larger Arc/ open rooms to then run in and grab everything. We need a shared loot/ contribution loot system in place to remedy this or this will become the new scummy META. \n\t\t\t\t\tThis PvE beta feels like it united the players who just wanted to chill out for a couple of hours after a long day.

The PvE mode has been an incredible experience so far. Being able to work with other players is a great upgrade. The 10-15 men matriarch fight is always enjoyable, even for smaller bosses like the rocketeer or the bastion, from the games I played, players are much more willing to help one another. This never happened when we were still in PvPvE mode when the game first launched. At least not in the games I played.

Not everything is positive, obviously. It's a race to the bodies of dead machines for loot every single time. But I feel like the developers can implement a system similar to what Guild Wars 2 has - Deal minimal damage, you get scraps. Deal mediocre damage, you get perhaps 50%-75% loot. Deal a lot of damage throughout the fight, and you get the full loot. This'll only incentivize players to want to join fights against the machines, and they'll get their deserved loots.

Other than having to race for loot, which really isn't that big of a deal for me, the PvE beta has been absolutely fantastic so far. Even though it's purely PvE, It doesn't feel like a walk in the park by any means, dying is still very possible, even in a full squad. PvE simply removed the feeling of being insanely tightly wound the entire time because you might run into someone with a torrente and an incredibly itchy trigger finger.

I know some insensible PvP enjoyers and trolls strongly disapprove of the PvE beta, thinking that the game has been made "too easy". But honestly, PvP enjoyers will always play in PvPvE games. Us PvE enjoyers just got an option to migrate to a place where we can enjoy ourselves in peace, at our pace. It's only detrimental to PvP players in the sense that they can no longer pick off casuals who didn't spend hundreds, if not thousands of hours in the game grinding.

I did every single expedition from the beginning, but for the very last one, I couldn't as my life is busier and have not as much gaming time as before. I bought this game on Epic Games earlier, but honestly, I wasn’t really happy with that purchase. Now I own a second copy on Steam, and I’m genuinely not regretting buying it again.

I left the game a few months ago because, to me, it felt like the game was already dead. But after playing the new Frozen Trail update for the past two days, I’m having a great time again. This update has genuinely brought me back, and the game feels revived!

I’m really enjoying the new experience, and now I’m just waiting for the PvE toggle so I can experience the game in a completely different way. I’m looking forward to spending a lot more time in the game again.

I like Arc Raiders. The world, the ARC enemies, the looting loop: it’s a genuinely good game. But I stopped playing months ago for one reason: the player base. Too many raids ended with someone faking friendly, waiting for me to drop my guard, and gunning me down for nothing. I’m not looking for a sweat-fest every time I drop in. I want to explore, fight the machines, and extract in peace.

The PvE-only mode finally gives me that, and it brought me back. I know it has split the community, and I understand why some players are frustrated. But for players like me, this mode is the difference between playing and uninstalling.

My position is simple:

If Embark gets cheating under control, aggression-based matchmaking is a fair long-term solution. Let the people who want to fight find each other, and let the rest of us play cooperatively.
If they can’t, the PvE mode needs to stay permanently. Pulling it would push out the players who left for exactly the reasons above, and I’d be one of them.

I've played ARC Raiders in its PvPvE stages, and I've also played during the PvE test. I've experienced both sides, and here's my controversial opinion: **what if we just let people play the bloody game the way they want to?**


I know, absolutely revolutionary stuff.


Let's get one thing straight: PvP has given me some genuinely brilliant moments. That feeling of meeting another Raider, exchanging a few friendly words, helping each other out, and then wondering whether they're about to turn me into a loot piñata? That's part of the magic.

Of course, there have also been hackers, rats, and people who apparently treat a single bandage like it's the last surviving heirloom of their bloodline. You win some, you lose some, and sometimes you lose your entire backpack because Steve decided your empty water bottle was worth committing war crimes over.


But here's the thing: I can enjoy PvP and still believe PvE deserves its own permanent home.** These two opinions can coexist. Nobody has to call the police.


## Two modes. Two realms. Zero drama.


ARC Raiders started life as a PvE-focused concept before evolving into the PvPvE game we know today. And having experienced the PvE test, I can absolutely see the appeal.


Some people want the tension of other Raiders potentially betraying them. Others want to fight giant murder-bots, collect shiny things, and go home without being introduced to the business end of a shotgun by someone called xXx_YourDad_420.


Both are perfectly valid ways to enjoy a game.


My suggestion? Make PvE and PvPvE two completely separate realms.


Same loot. Same events. Same content. Same opportunities to progress.


Different characters and separate progression.


You farm in PvE? That loot stays in PvE. You earn your fortune in PvPvE? Congratulations, your hard-earned riches stay there, too. No transferring loot between modes, no safely farming in PvE before going on a PvP murder spree with enough equipment to supply a small military.


Everyone gets to play their preferred mode without one side becoming a resource farm for the other.


PvPvE players keep their high-stakes extraction experience. PvE players get to enjoy the game without having to develop trust issues with every stranger they meet.


Everybody wins. Well, except the people who enjoy shooting me in the back. They'll manage.


## Let me pick up my friend. Or occasionally not.


I'd also like to see PvE retain some interesting choices around downed players.


Let us revive someone who's been knocked down. And perhaps give us the option to execute a downed player, too.


Before anyone starts sharpening their pitchforks, I'm not suggesting that PvE should become a free-for-all where everyone is hunting everyone else for sport. The idea is to allow meaningful decisions when an encounter happens, not to encourage players to roam around looking for their next victim.


Sometimes you help a stranger because it's the right thing to do. Sometimes you might decide not to. And occasionally, someone might discover that the person they left crawling on the floor was carrying something they really wanted.


A little risk, a little consequence, and a little humanity. Or a distinct lack of humanity, depending on the Raider.


The core experience should still be cooperative PvE. I'm just saying that downed-player interactions could add some interesting depth without requiring every encounter to end in a bloodbath.


## My partner would play this game. Embark, take my money.


Here's the part I think is particularly important.


My partner would love to play ARC Raiders, but she doesn't enjoy PvP. And honestly, I don't blame her. Not everyone wants to spend their relaxing evening playing *Guess Which Stranger Is About to Ruin My Day*.


I'd happily buy her a copy just so we could play PvE together.


That's another sale for Embark. One more person enjoying the game. One more potential long-term player who might buy future content or recommend it to friends.


And I'm willing to bet there are plenty of people in the same situation. Partners, friends, family members, and casual gamers who love the idea of ARC Raiders but don't want the PvP baggage that comes with it.


Those people aren't necessarily playing the game and complaining about it. **Some of them simply aren't buying it in the first place.**


That's a whole audience sitting outside the extraction zone, and Embark could be inviting them in.


Not everyone wants to become an elite PvP predator. Some of us just want to shoot robots, collect junk, and argue about who gets to carry the spare batteries.


## More players. More sales. More ARC Raiders.


I understand that a dedicated PvE mode would take development time and resources. It wouldn't be free to build or maintain, and success isn't guaranteed.


But the potential is there.


A separate PvE experience could bring in people who otherwise wouldn't touch the game. Those players could invest their time, become fans, participate in events, and spend money on optional offerings. A bigger community can mean more support for the game in the long run.


And before someone says PvE players would ruin PvPvE: that's precisely why I'm suggesting separate realms and separate progression.


Nobody gets to use PvE as a safe little loot factory for their PvP character. Nobody gets to use PvP progression to skip the grind in PvE. Each mode stands on its own.


If you love PvP, play PvP.


If you love PvE, play PvE.


If you love both, play both.


I know, absolutely outrageous. Giving customers a choice. Someone alert the shareholders.


## Final thoughts


I don't want PvP removed. I've had some fantastic experiences with it, and I want those experiences to remain part of ARC Raiders.


But I also don't want the game to miss out on an entire audience simply because they don't enjoy being shot by other players.


Embark has built a world worth exploring, with machines worth fighting and loot worth hauling home. There's no reason that experience has to be reserved exclusively for people who enjoy PvP.


Give us two separate modes. Keep the content and events consistent. Keep progression and economies separate. Let each community enjoy the game on its own terms.


The PvPvE crowd gets to keep their tense extractions, suspicious strangers, and occasional betrayal-induced blood pressure spikes.


The PvE crowd gets to enjoy the world, fight ARC, and play with their friends and family.


And Embark gets the opportunity to sell more copies of the game.


**Success breeds profit. Profit breeds more ARC Raiders. More ARC Raiders means more robots to shoot and more junk to shove into our backpacks.**

They are addressing some of my concerns about the game so some of my complaints might change (especially once they implement the PVE mode and if it stays) but until these things change I will list what issues I have with the game and why I don't necessarily it.

They could have just made PVP and PVE modes to separate the different playstyles but they know the toxic PVP clowns like to shoot people in the back and if there was PVE those rats would not have easy kills so they refuse to make a PVE mode and its literally killing the game. Go ask most people who stopped playing and they will tell you the same two things, they quit because of the lack of PVE and they quit because of the hackers. The developer's greed is driving the loyal PVE fans base away in droves and that is who was propping up the game. I want to like and recommend this game but when people ask if they should play I tell them not to bother because it is so broken and the fix is incredibly simple.

Here is the good and bad:

THE GOOD:
-playing PVE on friendly servers is so much fun, you explore with people and help each other out (and people who like PVP seem to really enjoy it)
-the world and gameplay are super cool
-the crafting and weapon system is satisfying and unique
-leveling up feels gradual and straightforward

THE BAD:
- The rats, there are so many toxic bozos on the game that only come on here to pretend to be friendly and then they shoot you in the back
- There is a free loadout so the cheaters and rats come in and kill a bunch of people and steal their stuff AND THERE IS NO REPURCUSSION AT ALL. it doesn't make sense and it's the dumbest idea ever. whoever designed this gameplay style clearly doesn't play games
- the rounds are thirty minutes but they will sometimes load you into a map that has 16 or 17 minutes left so everything is already looted and on boss events (like matriarch and harvester) if you come in at 16-17 minutes left in the round the boss is already dead and looted but you can't just drop and find a new server because you will lose all your loot so you have to RUN ACROSS THE ENTIRE MAP to exit. its a waste of time and disrespectful. why would i want to load into an even that is already over? Do the devs have brains?
- There are a ton of weird glitches, I keep getting stuck on invisible walls that appear and disappear at random
- If you are a PVE player and get attacked or see someone get attacked and you defend them or yourself you get punished by getting pushed into PVP servers. I was playing a match and a guy tried to attack another person as the extraction so I downed the attacker and defibbed the victim (I didn't even kill the guy he still extracted and kept his loot) and I was punished for it. Now I am getting put in PVP servers and getting killed by toxic players every single round, losing all my loot and making the game unplayable. YOU ARE PUNISHED FOR DEFENDING YOURSELF AND PROTECTING OTHER PLAYERS this is the worst mechanic I have ever seen in my life.
- You get coins for doing challenges that you can use to buy new outfits EXCEPT the coolest ones are typically locked behind paywalls or you have to grind and grind and grind the trials to get them. It just shows that they want you to waste real money to buy cosmetics ON A GAME THAT YOU ALREADY PAID FOR. this is some scam stuff, at least on The Finals it was a free game so I didn't feel as bad about buying cosmetics but I paid for this game and I STILL have to pay for cosmetics. That's such a scam.
- there is a thriving blackmarket of hackers that glitch duplicate weapons and sell them and seemingly embark is doing nothing to fix it
- Wall hacks, aimbots, seeing through walls, player trackers... there are people out here cheating in every way possible THANK GOD THEY MADE ME INSTALL A KERNEL LEVEL ANTI-CHEAT RIGHT??? such an invasive anti-cheat and it doesn't even stop the cheaters.
- They paid that burnt peanut guy or whatever the f his name is to play the game to try and rekindle the playerbase but that guy says racist stuff and is one of the most annoying people I have ever seen. It just shows what the devs value and who they will work with to get players back to a game they refuse to fix.

Overall this could be one of the best games ever but the devs have completely destroyed it with odd choices and not listening to the players (this is slightly changing with the updates thought). I am still on the fence about the game, I started playing again after the update but these frustrations I listed are still present.

In my opinion, really consider if you want to get this game. It is fun but also has some frustrating issues that can be a deal breaker for people.\t\t\t\t\t
