This could have become a great live-service game, but Embark managed to ♥♥♥♥ it up:
- No endgame
- Unable to address players preferences (PVP, PVE, RP)
- Balanced wrong: e.g. weapons rarity have nothing to do with their performance
- ALWAYS ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ CHANGING THINGS THE WRONG WAY: nerf loot one day, then blueprints are found everywhere for 2 days, then you can't find blueprints in multiple runs
- Cheaters are everywhere
- Overall, players are feeling poorly treated and the communication with Embark is bad
- Game breaking bugs are not addressed or after months: item duplication, holes in the map, glitching through doors
- No endgame, no incentive to use your items to progress

\n\t\t\t\t\tA live-service game with "10 years support plans" that sold 20 million copies goes into maintenance mode after just a few months of life? Is this a joke?
Embark makes great games. They have really good tech specialists (and as a programmer, I really appreciate their efforts in open source with Rust/gamedev repositories), but they just CANNOT properly support their live-service games. Both The Finals and ARC Raiders are actually great games in their core, but suffer from the same problems after release.

Let's talk about latest game problems.

Does the game have broken trial descriptions for last week of season 4?
They just write a post in a discord channel. No in-game notification or hotfix update.
UPD 07.07.2026: trials description was not fixed until the end of the season. So, devs probably decided, that fixing the last week of the trials season does not worth it, because it requires to release a hotfix with one line change. Sad.
For 4 seasons, players who actually do trials have been complaining about them because they are worthless and unfair to solo/duo players. They did nothing except add MORE weird trials.
UPD 07.07.2026: First new season trials week starts with trial "open containers at Spaceport". Such a fair challenge for solo players to loot a biggest map. Wish them good luck. Because other trials are such fair and exciting too.

Does the game have broken gun upgrades?
They haven't cared about it for 3 months straight. Just suffer from lagging sound and a 5-second delay after every upgrade step, and be careful - the game may decide to upgrade another gun right after the last upgrade for the current one.

Does the game have a duper problem for months? Is the economy broken, allowing people to buy a full inventory of anything for just 5 dollars?
They don't give a ****. Patrick talks about an in-game market, but these things remains in interviews. No equipment tied to the player, no in-game market for deals between players, just literally zero measures and in-game systems against RMT.

Plenty of character perks are broken, do nothing, or offer a whopping 1% increase?
They know about it. How do I know that they know? I read it in another interview. Any actions probably? No. Zero perk fixes or balance adjustments (except secuity breach perk nerf. yea, nerf) since launch. Maybe in October, they said. Maybe a rework. For now, invest in broken perks of your choice to satisfy the 15/36 point requirement for the final perks. Also, half of the final perks are useless. Enjoy.

Utils? Half of them are garbage no ones uses. Heavy shield? Is a meme. Augments balance? What? Everyone in kitted lobbies uses mk3 survivior, after successful pvp trios runs i have 2-3 rows of them in stash and just forced to sell them to free up some space. They just don't want to rebalance it or don't consider it a problem. Rebalance, not just nerf survivior. Why other games could have 20-40+ perks in implants/augments/etc, different shields, and ARC Raiders cannot?

Did the game have problems with the Stella map from release, with texture glitchers?
It took more than a month to fix the most common spots and another month to fix the remaining ones. No, my dear reader, think about it again. The entire map was unplayable for more than a month. Everyone talked about it, everyone knew it. Two months for proper fixes.

Every fix takes Embark anywhere from weeks to months, assuming they even want to fix a particular bug. And for now they even moved to "patch every 3 weeks" mode. Eat your new skins colors instead of bugfixes. Oh, today they can't even release new skin colors without breaking this skin in-game bundle?.. Ouch...

And the China version, which actually HAS equipment loadouts (we have been asking for them literally since launch), more game modes, a more balanced risk/reward loot pool in these modes (we are looking at you, useless "close scrutiny" mode in the main game), more augments/grenades/utility items, and their characters even hold chosen weapons while in the lobby during matchmaking. They also have leveling rewards. It's just unfair to main version players. I know Tencent supports this version, so - is the Tencent more productive or knows better what to do with the game then actual creators of the game?

And Ermal's deals. They are just absurd. It's perfect example of worst QoL and useless addition to the game, besides obtainable cosmetics. You cannot track deal items. You cannot partially invest items, having a return to in-game mail after rotation if you does not finish the deal, you must suffer and hold these 60 vaporizer regulators in your stash. The current "maintenance" team just does not actually play the game; they don't know its economy. HOW DID THEY FKN DECIDE TO PUT A DEAL FOR 5 QUEEN AND 5 MATRIARCH CORES FOR THE SNAPHOOK BLUEPRINT? It's literally the easiest blueprint in the game now. I have 3 footages this season of loading into electromagnetic storm and obtaining 1 or 2 blueprints in the row from literally FIRST opened containers. Or they offers me to trade Hullcracker 3 for the price of 3.5 hullcracker 1's. No one will do it, everyone just either buy hullcracker 1 and play as is, or able to grade it to level 4, because it's WAY cheaper then buying level 3 from Ermal. Other deals are often just as absurd. But they don't know all of it, because to know something you need to play the game or analyze game data, not just collect it and post interview about how they "track every bullet" and how "it takes 30 TB of data per day".
Look at other extractions, and look at Marathon especially - their factions and barters ACTUALLY make sense. In Marathon (which has a lot if its own problems of course, but in other aspects), you MUST do quests and MUST progress factions to do things in-game. Quest reward mostly good. Barters are actually worth it; people rush for certain VIP deals and wait for the daily rotation to buy some rare weapon mod, implant, or backpack. People in-game always grab any salvage - grey, green, blue, purple, gold - it's all needed for faction progress and different barters, from basic heals to prestige items. I'm actually rushed for Traxus repo for being able to buy magazines and optics, and rushed their VIP too for purple and prestige attachments.
ARC Raiders quests? People either don't do them or just sell all the quest trash, like smoke grenade traps from the quests. There is no need to say more. Just ask any player. That's it.

So, if you plan to play this game a lot and expect endgame content - there is NO endgame content and no healthy game decisions right now. Either wait or play another game [in another genre]. ARC Raiders is not worth buying right now. PvE players suffer from low online numbers and broken lobbies, PvP players suffer from cheaters and a broken economy, and both player groups lack endgame content and items actually worth grinding. There are no truly valuable and rare items in this game.

And i will eventually fix this review and change it to good, but only if/when they fix a game :)

If you’re planning on only fighting arc I’d highly suggest this game. If you’re wanting PvP, then this game will probably be very difficult for you. Most PvP lobby’s have cheaters in them to a point where it makes the game unplayable for the average player. It’s really sad how such a good game is dying due to the lack of action taken against cheaters. I can’t even have fun anymore without dying to aimbot/walling cheaters each time. I’ve seen people live stream their cheats and no bans. I’ve seen people admit to cheating in prox chat with no bans. I’ve even played with cheaters who have told me they have been cheating since launch day with no bans. They will spam smoke grenades and shoot u perfectly through it when u can’t see anything at all. They go into PvP, lose to better players, and when they run out of gear, they reset their reputation by letting themselves get killed 7–8 times without even fighting back.

Then they take their last Level 4 Bobcat or whatever high-tier weapon they have left into the Friendly Lobby and start hunting everyone there.

Their goal isn't to defend themselves. They actively hunt down PvE players, kill as many people as possible, and extract with as much loot as they can for five or six matches. Once they have enough gear again, they head back into PvP.

Then they lose everything, can't compete anymore, and repeat the exact same cycle.

Nobody hates PvP itself. The frustrating part is rats abusing the Friendly Lobby just to farm PvE players who are simply there to relax, gather loot, and make progress.

\n\t\t\t\t\tI genuinely wanted to enjoy ARC Raiders. The core concept is excellent, the world is atmospheric, and the game has moments where it shows real potential. Unfortunately, after spending significant time with it, I cannot recommend it in its current state.

The biggest issue is that the game's design often rewards the least enjoyable aspects of player behavior. Instead of encouraging meaningful encounters, cooperation, risk taking, and fair competition, the current structure heavily favors opportunistic playstyles focused on exploiting other players' efforts.

Many matches become less about exploration, progression, or completing objectives and more about waiting for others to do the hard work before ambushing them at the final moment. While this is technically part of the game's design, the balance between risk and reward feels fundamentally off. Players who invest time gathering resources and completing objectives frequently receive less benefit than those who simply wait for an opportunity to steal the rewards.

This creates a frustrating gameplay loop where success often feels disconnected from skill, preparation, or commitment. Winning can feel unsatisfying, while losing often feels arbitrary rather than deserved.

The social aspect that could have made ARC Raiders truly special is also weakened by a community environment that increasingly encourages distrust and hostility. Instead of memorable interactions, many encounters quickly devolve into predictable shoot on sight situations. As a result, the game starts to feel less unique and more like yet another extraction shooter competing in an already crowded genre.

What makes this particularly disappointing is that the foundation is genuinely strong. The atmosphere, visuals, progression systems, and overall presentation show a great deal of promise. However, the core gameplay experience is currently held back by design decisions that reward frustrating behavior more than engaging gameplay.

I sincerely hope the developers continue refining the experience because there is a great game hidden underneath these issues. Until meaningful changes are made, however, I cannot recommend ARC Raiders to new players.

The game is well-priced for what it offers, and the PvE experience is honestly my favorite part. Fighting the ARC machines, exploring, and scavenging feels rewarding and keeps me coming back.

My only wish is that the developers would add a dedicated PvE mode. I think it would make the game even more enjoyable for players who love the world and gameplay but aren't as interested in PvP. Overall, I've really enjoyed my time with the game and definitely recommend it.\t\t\t\t\t

Never used cheats, never ran hacks, never tried to ruin anyone else's game. I found some duplicated items during a match, and somehow that was enough to lose access to a game I paid for.

The funniest part? Actual cheaters get 30-day bans, while people caught up in this mess get permanently banned. Brilliant logic.

Support just copy-pastes the same response about "external tools" and refuses to actually investigate anything. It feels like once the system flags you, you're done, whether you cheated or not.

If you enjoy spending money on a game where you can lose your account over questionable ban decisions and then get ignored by support, go for it.

The handling of expeditions in recent months has been overwhelmingly underwhelming. Embark has somehow removed any true incentive for 'veteran' players to continue through the expedition to redo the gameplay loop. The one thing going for it IS the gameplay loop, but without any change, no matter how you play it will get stale and boring. Embark have such opportunity to run with this game and make it truly live service. They are on the right track with the new map that they added, but all content aside from that has been extremely lackluster.

I don't mean to sound entitled, but the recent expedition announcement of no further increase to skill points is a huge step in the wrong direction.

To make the expedition worthwhile, there needs to be some dynamic loop changes, some 'leverage point' that changes the way the game is played. Embark has tried to do this with different material requirements in expeditions, but this is simply not enough. Change the loot pool. Freshen things up. Change out some quests. Something of meaning.

I love this game. I want to keep coming back to it. But make me want to. Not with these crap expedition changes.


I got my money's worth out of this game. I don't regret purchasing it, but I am a bit disappointed the update cycle has been lackluster. Let's hope they get it right in October.\t\t\t\t\t

Rather than double or triple down and take the game to the next level, listen to their community, take cheating seriously, they have all but sacrificed this masterpiece in record time. Unless they can pull a rabbit out of their hat with some kind of Messiah patch in October, I fear this game will go the way of the Dodo.\t\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\tWhat can I say....I have played this game since launch (598 hours) and managed to gather a bunch of friends to try it as well and they loved it.. Though I understand this game is a PVEVP extraction shooter, I have always been a friendly player, any players I had downed were in self defence and I hate to PVP in this game. If I wanted to, there are tonnes of PVP games out there.

Playing in solo lobbies are fine and dandy, mostly friendly and the banter with strangers are always fun. Helping one another, killing arc, sharing loot and bps. What is not to love?

However, when it comes to duos and trios, it becomes a totally different landscape almost 80% of the time despite my friends and I being friendly. We get ratted frequently, and some nights, we lose more than we gain, a very sour experience. Sometimes, we end up playing solo to avoid being ratted.

So in essence, this game is mixed for me right now.. with no optional PVE mode in place, I can only find joy in solos and is unable to enjoy the game properly with friends in group lobbies. PVP is fine, but when you are shooting a defenceless player, where's the fun in it apart from taking loot that you could have easily found looting in game.

Anyway, hopefully we can get some of the features released in the china version and Embark can listen to the silent friendly players more..

This is a pvp and pve game they should map it friendly for both enjoyers. I can't even play with my dad because we get killed every damn game since i can't even teach him how to fight. This is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of a game. Do not waste your time or money, get's really repetitive and boring. Out of 10 games your are likely to get killed 6 out of 4 games by campers who are maxed out and impossible to kill due to their higher levels of gear and experience. Not new player friendly and the pvp/friendly match system is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, I think it does not exist since I only have one player knockout and got killed by a guy, added him back and he showed me he had 4000 player knockouts. No one even tries to be friendly.

\n\t\t\t\t\tArc Raiders is a gorgeous game with great style and huge potential, but right now it’s practically unplayable unless you enjoy rat‑style PvP, cheating, or camping. Embark refuses to add a PvE flag, so every round is filled with players who do nothing but ambush and grief you. If you want to enjoy quests or PvE progression, forget it — you get killed instantly by rats the moment you spawn, and you can’t even shoot back without being thrown into sweatlord PvP lobbies.
Embark clearly doesn’t care, and because of that, the game is already dying. Without PvE players, Arc Raiders has no future — and unless they fix this, it deserves to die early.
