There are so many things still broken from launch - like the mission for the ECS Constant and many more. The new "cruise mode" sounds like a great addition until you are forced into using it with no explanation of how to do that.
Added creations cause issues that cause you to lose saved items. You still can't fully trust weapon racks and mannequins to store and display your loot.
It's sad really....

I finished and didn't play again for over a year but then Terran Armada came out and I thought I would give it another try. My comment came from the disappointment of Bethesda's lipstick on a pig approach to this game. 1. Outdated and limited engine. We all know that Bethesda has been using the same engine since Morrowind, and it really shows. So many transitions and loading screens - like, constantly. Janky and jerky movements and animations. Bad facial mapping. Clipping and getting trapped on scenery. Limitations on asset numbers and draw depth.
2. The quests are terrible. Fetch quests (fly here, buy me this, bring it back). Hunt quests. Radiant quests. Repetitive and badly written quests. Nonsensical quests.
3. The NPCs are poor. Constant repeating conversations. They feel lifeless and dull. Unresponsive to world state changes. Poor AI and reactivity in combat and events. Romance is badly done compared to contemporary games.
4. The main plot is *stupid*. Very badly written and very badly planned out. Tying into the New Game Plus mode, which is just dull and so not worth it. The alien tech is a repeat of dragon shouts from Skyrim, and is so poorly implemented - very repetitive and copy/paste.
5. The world design is poor. Why are there dozens of ruins on every damn moon or planet. Nothing is actually empty, there's random AI generated "points of interest" everywhere, even when it makes no sense at all. The main cities are tiny and cramped with ascetics which don't fit the genera. So many things just don't make sense - why doesn't Akila City have *paved streets*??

Imagine my surprise when many of the cool things from ME turned up in Starfield except they were not sexy or daring because ME is a game that is Adult in nature set in space with space exploration with a very cool story spread over three huge interlocking games, In Starfield they were sanitised and pretty much designed for 10 yr olds with a weak overarching plot full of holes that you could just ignore anyway. Yes Starfield is a sandbox and not linear like ME but the games are similar in the themes and story and Starfield whilst cool for about 5 or 6 hrs it then drops off a cliff in terms of everything that keeps you engaged in a game .\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

The bethesda charm is there from the start as long as you have the eyes to see it. Even in the opening sequence, when you first start the game things are layed out for you. The setting, the two big factions, how they operate. The big wow moment isnt when you step outside, its not seeing the light, its when you see the ship. Its when it lands and that star wars promise is on full display. Its when you step inside and you look around. When you find Barretts slates, see his character as first portrayed. And its when you look in the captains locker and you are told how to play the game. All summarized in a poem. This game is about exploration. Trying new things, making planets your own home. Everything else is flavoring. Draw your own conclusions, you might dissagree, but dont knock it till you try it. Bethesda definitely put their heart into this game. Wait until discount, game's worth about 30-40 bucks.

Story:
This is a space-fantasy, star trek-esque game pretending to be sci-fi. The story essentially copies the old Skyrim storyline (you're a 'Star-born' now instead of 'Dragon-born', wow... such creativity xD) and essentially offers you a reason to go out into space, explore, meet people and unlock new powers. You don't need a reason, but they're giving you one anyway. Story's quite forgettable, but I did enjoy the companions you meet along the way. The story's a bit forcing you to be a good-doer, and sometimes not so subtly forcing choices on you, but I personally don't need every game to have an infinite amount of narrative choices, as long as the dialogue is interesting or funny, which I think is the case here.
Gameplay:
Gunplay's good if you enjoyed Fallout 4. Melee combat sucks ass. Crafting, researching, base-building and workshopping is all similar to FO4, None of it is necessary; you can decide to either find every piece of loot, or build it from scratch. Or both. You will not be held back in your game by grindy mechanics. The game has too many loading screens, but it also makes every map feel intentional, rather than randomly generated (although some of it might've been). Ship dogfights are fun and surprisingly in-depth, and ship-building is fun. Essentially, this game has way too many mechanics, and they're all handled in a very 'Bethesda' way, which I like.
Performance/graphics:
Runs kinda poor for how it looks, and 145GB is waaaaay too much. You need a relatively decent pc to be able to play this. I had to install quite a lot of mods to have the performance be smoother, and even now I can sometimes boil an egg on my pc while playing this. And I'm playing on medium-graphics. Lol. It does run much smoother in dungeons than on planets, but planetside is where you'll be spending most of your time. Game's also still buggy to this day (which Bethesda game isn't), and sometimes it's funny, sometimes it's annoying. They kinda dropped the ball on optimization.
Music/atmosphere:
Great music. Inon Zur did a fantastic job, and the music's fully performed with the London Symphony Orchestra. You can tell they didn't hold back. It does work wonders for the atmosphere of the game, because they were clearly going for a 'admire this view and enjoy being in space' and the music is the greatest contributor to that, not the visuals.
Overall:
Fun game, familiar mechanics, great music and atmosphere, buggy and a bit broken, poor performance.
Final thing I want to address:
Upon release, this game received a lot of hate, and reviews to this day are still mixed. This was and is, imo, mostly Bethesda's own fault, by putting the expectations waaaay too high for this game, and Todd promoting it like it would be a next-gen game. It's not. It feels like a fun side-project that was made with a lot of love, too high of a budget and a bunch of CPO's and CEO's finally telling the devs 'fine, make your f*cking space-game, jesus just calm down'. Lol.
Final take:
This is a fun Bethesda game, with all its Bethesda wins and flaws. If you expect this game to be the next-gen space-game, you'll be sorely disappointed. If you enjoy Bethesda games and are looking for a break from either the Elder Scrolls, or Fallout universe, this is the perfect game to dive into. Game has great replay value and you can easily sink hundreds of hours into this game, or speedrun the main storyline in 20 hours and be done with it. Buy it in discount, as it often is.
Bonus; DLC:
I haven't played Terran Armada yet, and I'm currently playing Shattered Space. So far; pretty ok, I'm having fun, but the quests are a bit tedious. If you can buy everything in a discounted bundle, I'd say it's worth it, but not worth the full price.

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tmy entire thoughts on this game can be summed up in one sentence; this would be so good if it was actually good. the bones of a great rpg are here, but all of it is just so bland and toothless, from the characters to the story to the combat to the exploration. it's wide as an ocean and shallow as a puddle. not one character here feels like a real person. not one faction quest feels like it really matters all that much. every gun feels vaguely similar, no matter how many mods you slap on it. and yet for all that, i still keep coming back and hoping this time to find the game buried deep in there that i knew it could be. just a few tweaks; a writer that could create an engaging story and characters and wasn't afraid to actually say something with their work, a skill system that didn't lock core mechanics like boost packs or ship targeting behind wasting a skill point on it, more weapons that actually function differently rather than just stat changes... it could be there. this just ain't it chief. grab it for under 20 bucks and mess around, don't pay full price for it\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\ti was very hyped to play this game. first thing i disliked was the UI, very odd. way too many unnecessary loading screens where most of them are just to try to "woah" you but after a while you are getting annoyed. The idea of the story is cool. But the whole game is very uneventful. I can not remember much about any of the quests. I dont even think i enjoyed this game after 20 hours in. The base building felt very forces, so did the planet exporation. After a while you see most planets are empty except for the same building over and over again. The weapons are all boring. And there is no good named weapons you could aim to get each play through. Just have to look at each and see if it is good. A lot of fetch quests with no deep meaning. I regret buying the premium edition since i have zero clue what i got. And the DLC is so boring i stopped playing within an hour 1.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t
