\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tAs I was getting ready to write this review, I found myself unsure of where to begin, so I decided to rewatch all the trailers. And one of them features a quote from Destructoid which perfectly summarizes the game, and my current predicament of how to start this review: "Where do I even begin with this?"
In all my years, if there is one thing I have learned, it's that you can never do something 100% perfectly. Now don't get me wrong, you can get damn close, 90% and even 99.99% are definitely achievable, but that last bit will always elude you. That final 0.01% of doing something to absolute perfection is something that can never be achieved. And yet, The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe SOMEHOW appears to have done exactly that: It has created the perfect game.
Starting with the original Stanley Parable, the first and most important thing to know is it was fundamentally a story-based game. It was written to have quite a few different endings that you could get depending on how you played through the game. Stanley Parable was by no means the first game to do this, but in my eyes, it was the first to have it's writing be so comically horrendous that the game's bad writing actually works in its favor, and both the original and the sequel play into this.
I won't spoil the story, given how it is a disaster that was somehow polished into something beautiful in a class of it's own, but what I will say is that it is definitely worth playing. From the silly jokes you get when you do something unexpected to the nicely crafted environment to a stupidly mesmerizing BUCKET that I WILL NOT GET OVER.. the game just works. There's no other way to put it. It just works
If there was one single thing the game was missing, it would be a menu to keep track of which endings you have and have not found. Maybe the absence of this feature is that missing 0.01% of perfection from earlier, who knows
Would I recommend playing the Stanley Parable? Yes. Would I recommend playing the Ultra Deluxe version over the original? Also yes. Am I ever going to look at a bucket the same way again? God no. Would I spend another 24 hours afk in a broom closet? Hell yeah. 10/10.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Apart from the slideshows and signs that made me laugh even harder, this dialogue from the broom closet made me laugh too: "Stanley was fat and ugly and really, really stupid. He probably only got the job because of a family connection; that's how stupid he is. That, or with drug money. Also, Stanley is addicted to drugs and hookers." (I was stunned!)
