I thought it was gonna focus on the supernatural nature and mystery of the, you know... "GOLDEN IDOL", but it focused more on family drama and politics.

The music in this game is great and for the most part pretty hard to get sick of. I say "for the most part" because I was a bit of a dunce for some of these levels and spent way longer in the downstairs of The Little Mermaid than I probably needed to.
The main mechanic of using keywords you gather throughout the scene was surprisingly super satisfying to use and that could be due to the format of the "thinking" tab. You shouldn't ever have to pull out a notebook yourself to keep track of things because the thinking tab provides that space for you and guides you just the right amount in the general direction of what to be thinking about.
In the base game I never felt like a level was so easy it was boring nor did I ever feel like one was too hard it was frustrating.
The DLCs are still great and I love the time mechanic in The Lemurian Vampire but at the end of the day they are DLCs and each only has 3 levels, so they can't match the base game in terms of payoff.

There are one or two parts that might be a little annoying (because of syntactic reasons- case 11 scroll 1 comes to mind), but all in all, the base game is certainly worth playing. It makes you think and subsequently regret your bad choices, which is always welcome in the genre. No handholding. Resist the urge to brute force a solution unless you're completely out of ideas.

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tPersonally, this game is not for me, but I'm still recommending it because it is an objectively a good game whether I vibed with it or not. I went into this game completely blind without any knowledge and I wished I would've at least watched a trailer for the game before playing it. The puzzles/deductions are clever and really push you to apply your knowledge of the game and its story. However it goes from family drama/murder mystery to cult rituals a bit too quickly for my liking lol.
So basically, great puzzle/deduction game with a solid story and creepy vibes, so if that's your thing, I would recommend playing it.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

The game is a lot of fun if you can get past the errors. The format is simple and relies partially on clue finding and heavily on deductive reasoning. Some puzzles are more obtuse than others but I was able to finish the entire game with DLCs included without any hints while losing concentration regularly to care for 3 kids.
