Combat is brutal, resources are always tight, It’s definitely not an easy game, but that’s exactly why it’s so good. Every time I log in, something unexpected happens. The game just nails the survival aspect perfectly. The Zone feels so dangerous and unpredictable one minute you’re just enjoying the gloomy scenery, and the next you’re running for your life from a bloodsucker because you ran out of ammo. It has its quirky moments, sure, but it only adds to the charm. Seriously, it's easily one of the best shooters I’ve played.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tRight at the first hour I was hooked on this game. After roughly 85 hours of gameplay I just found the abandoned legendary town of Pripyat and I simply can not put the game down. It's amazing.
The story, the characters, the world. Ah yes, the world. Everything in the zone can kill you. You have to get used to being the least dangerous though around and adapt to that. While I am in no shape or form a fan of jump scares, this game contains them, but it's somehow managable and goes so well with the enviroment that I don't mind it.
If you enjoy single player RPGs (no stats like STR and DEX though, just weapon and armor-tweaking with things you find in the zone) with really amazing storyline and characters that are so well written that it feels like you are there with them, this is the game for you.
The graphics are post-soviet rusty and dusty -amazing and the soundscape is phenomenal. The music is a combined effort of drone / dark ambience and orchestra which marries together surprisingly well with the aesthetics.
So grab a bottle of water, a sausage and a loaf of bread, get a good nights sleep and get ready to your heart rythm being just about as quick as the crackling sounds from your geigercounter.

If there's anything good, it usually has a jump rope, a special point, or a password door guarding it. The only way to teleport is between different camps. The rest can only be done on foot. Sometimes in the later stages, a single mission requires running a couple of kilometers. Even without carrying any weight, because the physical strength is quickly depleted, once it's gone, walking and returning becomes extremely slow. One can only wait in place... Additionally, from other survivors, I traded quite a lot of beverages. Because they can enhance endurance, speed of recovery, replenish the stamina bar, and are very helpful for running and long-distance travel. The taking cover animation for NPC's are also looped, and A Life is much worse than the OG games. There is still lots of content to unpack, and the gunfights are pretty fun.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Upon release the game was extremely disappointing, still I decided to give it some time so the developers could patch it up and improve the "alpha" version they decided to release. Forcing high-tier 7.62x54mm sniper rifles (like the Whip/SVU) to completely reject standard 7.62x54mm ball ammo is a terrible design choice. Game crashes every 30 minutes to an hour, enemies all have aimbot, enemies will spawn directly behind you somewhere you literally just cleared, weapon balancing and general difficulty balancing is non-existent, yet the game is beautiful and when it's not being the most annoying piece of ♥♥♥♥ you've ever played, it can actually be a fun hardcore shooter experience. Specifically the mission "Assault on the Duga" is completely broken and should have never made it through playtesting. People two years ago were posting about giving the game a year to be fixed and it's still just as busted. I'm using shotguns constantly to combat the absolute onslaught of bloodsuckers I see. It's become more common to fight a group of four to six bloodsuckers around the swamp than any other mutant. I cannot fathom why there is so many of them, aside from the games terrible bubble spawn mechanic for the enemies. It feels so awful to run into a pack of bloodsuckers after cleaning out a group. The 34 tentacles in my inventory are just... Making me want to stop playing half the way through the game. "

- My overall impression is that the game is frustrating — and it feels like it was deliberately designed that way.
- This may be the first game where I completely failed to understand the story.
- There is almost no relationship-building or emotional connection with the characters.
- There are long stretches of simply running from point A to point B.
- One of my mission looks like this: run 400 metres, complete the objective, run back, receive a reward — and then discover that the reward is a stash located exactly where you just came from.
- The economy is poorly balanced. Mission rewards barely cover the cost of repairing your weapons and armour.
- Enemies seem to share a collective consciousness. They always know where you are and can see you through obstacles and dense vegetation, even when you cannot see them. They can also shoot you through a tiny hole in a roof while you are standing on a chimney.
- Reloading weapons and healing are painfully slow. You get hit by a burst of gunfire, but your character remains completely relaxed: slowly reload the weapon, slowly heal, fire a short burst, and then slowly reload again.
- Where are the anomalies? Usually exactly where you need to walk, seemingly placed there mainly to annoy you.
- The map is huge and contains many locations, but most of them have no connection to the main story.
- Mutants respawn in some locations.
- There is no real A-Life system.
- Stashes, including some that are difficult to reach, rarely contain anything interesting.
- This may be the first open-world game where I did not feel any desire to visit every location and collect everything.
- Jumping feels inconsistent. Sometimes you make the jump, sometimes you do not. Sometimes you fall short, sometimes you overshoot. Skif can somehow balance on a narrow railing but cannot climb over a low wall, so you have to run around the entire building looking for stairs.
- The game has many bugs. None of them completely blocked my progress, although frozen NPCs sometimes forced me to return to the main menu and reload the game.
- Still, the bug that caused around thirty Burers to respawn in a single location is something the developers should probably fix.

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI've pre-ordered an Ultimate Edition of this game (after the prices on preorders went up) to support my fellow Ukrainian developers in a tough time. I forgave them when the game just released for being a buggy and unoptimized mess because of war, deadlines, relocating and other ♥♥♥♥ that was going on IRL because of russia starting a full-scale war. I've also used to excuse them like "Just give them more time to fix the game", "Cyberpunk was waay more an unoptimized, broken and buggy mess when it came out. But now CDPR managed to fix it and it is an incredible game that runs well even on a hardware that wasn't supposed to run it in the first place", "I'm sure that year or year and a half after, the game will be fixed like Cyberpunk was, and it will be an incredible to play", "It's an UE5 and UE5's graphical technologies like Lumen and Nanite that are an unoptimized mess by themselves more, than a game itself. Stalker 2 is a first UE5-made game with this large open-world without of any loading screens, this engine wasn't really polished for this type of games because there wasn't any this big open-world UE5 projects before S2, so I'm pretty sure in the newer versions of UE5 those problems would be solved, so after the GSC will upgrade the engine version of the game, it will run better".
But now, almost 2 years after the release (or even more?) I cannot find any excuse for the devs. A lot of things were fixed for sure, but the game is still technically a garbage that runs like a total garbage. The game does give a normal FPS only outside of the hubs, but soon after entering any in-game hub like Zalissya, any Ward base, SIRCAA or especially Rostok etc, the framerate goes total ♥♥♥♥. Let alone my own hardware (i5 11400f and RTX 3060 12 GB), but when I tried the game even on a **paid** Geforce Now subscription with the hardware a lot better than my own, the game still did ran like a total ♥♥♥♥ in hubs. Rostok specifically still has a lot of lighting-related bugs and glithes, and texture flickering (specifically when entering and leaving the Arena). You are literally forced to use a framegen in hubs to get at least more than a 50 fps. I've actually saw a benchmarks with a top-line GPUs like RTX 4090, that struggled to get more than a native 50 FPS in the hubs without of the framegen, so it is that bad. BTW, also, if your CPU isn't an X3D Ryzen, it will be bottlenecked in the hubs because of unoptimized AI processing that utilize only 1 thread of a CPU. Also, promised to us 2000 years ago A-Life 2.0 is still isn't in the game. There is no A-life 1.0 from previous Stalker games either as well. And all Stalker 2 marketing was around "very very advanced" NPC's AI and A-Life 2.0 system that was advertised as a better and more advanced version of A-life from previous games. But 2 years after the actual release, what devs call "A-life system" in Stalker 2 still cannot compete with anything that was in the classic previous Stalkers.
BTW, the game actually forces you to use an upscaler, there is no way to turn off upscaling completly. Your only choice is between DLSS, FSR, TSR, XeSS and that's it, you cannot turn off upscaling completly. And even with the help of upscaling to "optimize the game", it's still runs like a total garbage especially in the hubs.
For sure, I really like the plot, expanded by a game lore, and atmosphere. The atmosphere of the game is actually a thing, that was dragging me to play it even regardless of how bad it running. Which is a reason why I spend in this game more than a 200 hours. But the technical part of the game ruins a lot of feelings and my opinion about the game. So I don't think the devs deserved a positive review considering their unprofessionalism after 2 years of the release, and marketing lies before the release.

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI loved the game, story was decent but the gunplay felt amazing. The AI and the performance really hurt the game. It was hard to finish the game when my frames kept dropping the in the final parts of the game. Going into big Towns always dropped, no matter what performance mod I do, no matter how low the graphics are, it will always drop dramatically where I have to pause for a minute for the frames to get back. At least in the open areas the game never dropped and looked amazing. Exploring was fun but it was a chore to finish. I was glad I finished it so I can uninstall the 150+ GB. For how big the game size is and how unoptimized the game is, it's a gamble to play.
If you love the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Games and really want to try it once, wait for it to be on sale and give it a go for only one playthrough, it's worth the experience, I would try to go for two but I don't want to go through the headache again, I'm pretty sure I spent 5 hours trying to configure the settings to make the game run good consistently, just no answer in the big areas with the many NPCs. Maybe the 6 GB VRAM is one of the problems, but I never had a game struggle on mostly low settings with 1920x1080 resolution. Hopefully, maybe one day the game gets truly optimized, but it's wishful thinking.

Its fun and could be a Game of The Year contender in my opinion but the bugs, crashes, and glitches are a constant, every day issues you will experience. Fast travel needs to be more convenient by the end of the game as well. I dont care if you have to pay for it or its some anomaly you can use. Some of the treks you have to make are ridiculous and if you happen to die you could be reset to an autosave that wastes a good 30 minutes of your time. I get it in the start of the game but not towards the end. I could play another hundred hours or more of this game if it ran smooth and was optimized but by the time I was getting to the end of this I didnt even want to stop the main story and explore because I was so ready to be done with it. Then ironically, the final and last cut scene had no sound or audio and thats what I got for finishing the game. silence and subtitles. Icing on the cake. Its crazy they are putting pout DLC and still making people pay 40 plus dollars for it all while they continue to ignore the blatant issues. It needs optimized and this would be amazing.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tThis game series has been one of my top favourites since I played Shadow of Chornobyl back when it first came out, sure it isn't perfect, but given the game is made by a small developer, in a war torn country at a budget microscopic compared to things like Fallout 4 or GTA V, it is amazing!
The survival aspect of the game has never been the focal point, this is more of a story based semi-RPG shooter, you don't have skills, you never get overpowered, you are not superman! You are just a guy who ends up in a scary, dangerous and fascinating place.
The world is based loosely around the real world Chernobyl exclusion zone, and even if you haven't played the previous games, it will still be a great experience...
Speaking of the previous games, the first one is now 20 years old, but still worth playing! A rare occurance in the world of gaming.
