Sweet Shine is a line-drawing game where you have a limited amount of control over lines to guide balls into a pit. Along the way you collect hearts which can be used to unlock additional cosmetics for the lewd scenes once you progress through enough levels.
According to the store page, there are 3 cute girls who have different stories. That being said, if you were expecting story in any capacity whatsoever, you'll be left wanting. There is no story and I didn't even know the girls weren't all different until I read the store page as I'm writing this review. It advertises that although there are difficult levels, you can use a hint, but the "hint" is actually just an auto-complete button. The rest is fairly accurate.
The gameplay of Sweet Shine is pretty monotonous. You do what I described earlier, but every now and again they'll throw in a new element to make you think. I think that the gameplay is done fairly well, even if it absolutely does drag on for quite a while and start to wear out its welcome. Unlock a lot of other line-drawing games, your lines aren't impacted by gravity, meaning you need to be pretty careful about where you're drawing.
When you've completed a ring of stages, you're rewarded with a lewd scene of which there are 9 total. These are Live2D animations that you can customize the aesthetics of (typically in the form of removing clothing or adding different clothing/objects) while you're doing the deed. You can also hide the HUD to allow for screenshots. I think that these scenes are done fairly well and cater to a variety of fetishes involving the profession of the person you're stirring up. My only major complaint is that in order to progress the scenes, you have to tap the spacebar. A lot. I think that tapping the spacebar gets really loud and could have easily been a click instead to reduce some of the headache, but that's a fairly minor complaint. That being said, there is a reward for hitting the spacebar 5000 times... and you absolutely will not get it through naturally playing the game, even if you view each lewd scene 3 times over. You just aren't. You have to grind for it.
The music of the game is... meh? It's there. There's one or two music tracks that follow you. They're soft enough that they aren't headache inducing, but they definitely just feel placed there. Granted, the gameplay also feels like it's mostly just placed there to run out the length of the game. Hell, there's even an achievement for playing for longer than 2 hours, juuuust to make sure you won't refund the game once you've 100%'d it.
The biggest sin to me in this game is the Skip Level button. It knocks it down at least a full letter game to me when a developer gives you the tools to just skip the game that they should have been proud to develop. If you just wanted to make a lewd game, then do that, but don't pretend to hide it as a game when you're providing the tools to skip the game. It feels like an insult to game developers and really gives off the impression that the game was nothing more than a cash grab with no real passion or inspiration behind it. I know this is a lewd title, but I feel like expecting to need to play the game to be the bear minimum of any game I am paying money for.
I was honestly on the fence about this game until I got to this point in the review. On the one hand, the gameplay is inoffensive and the store page shows you what you're getting when you buy it. On the other hand, it does feel like a cash grab title. In the end, because the store page tells you what you're getting in terms of gameplay, I do think that it may be worth your time. Balls fall from a point, get them into a goal. Avoid obstacles or the balls falling off the screen. As you do this, collect hearts by moving the balls through them and avoid broken hearts. The more balls you get in the goal the better your score. The more hearts you unlock the more you can do in the adult screens. You have 3 lines you can draw on each level, with a certain amount of length /ink you can use. Try and get as many balls as you can in the goal and collect the 3 hearts on the way.
Animated H scenes are pretty standard for this tyupe of game. The art is passable, but not amazing. Its not the suckiest in that department, but its not as good as some others, especially given the price. Using the hearts you have saved up via play you can "buy" additional actions for the animated H scene. This might be things like different outfits, stages of undress etc or more exciting things like ropes, butt plugs or unlocking certain positions. Then its a case of mashing the space bar to build the pleasure meter to "finish". or you can make a macro on your keyboard and do it for you. There is an achievement for this (5000 button mashes) so I used the macro whilst looking at motorbike reviews.
9 or so girls each girl has about 5 or 6 individual levels. As the game progresses the mechanics of the game get increasing complex, at the end you have lasers and fans to avoid, gravity is all over the place etc and it gets noticably harder to finish with a full set of hearts and stars.
If you are playing for real, there is probs about 2 hours of game play here depending how good you are and if you are willing to grind out max scores. This is handy as there is a cheevo for playing that long. Youll probs be able to get most of the stuff yourself, and if you dont want to you dont even have to access the H scenes so you can play this as a normal puzzle game in front of friends, family, members of your church etc.
If you are a filthy casual you can just wait out each level and press the skip button getting full points too if thats your thing. But hey, you just spent like $2 on a somewhat questionable H game on steam. You may as well play some of it.

Sweet Shine is another hentai puzzle game that rewards you with interactive h-scenes. Depending on how well you do on the puzzle will determine what cosmetics you can unlock for characters. There are a few positions that can be unlocked for some scenes, but the main difference with them is penetration and no penetration. While the achievements are not difficult, they do require some patience as there is one where you must mash the spacebar up to at least 5000 times and another where you must spend at least 2 hours in game.
