As someone who plays much more frequently on a handhled pc, it is one of best time killer games that you can probably play. One of the few reasons as to why I love the game is the totality of rng included. The amount of synergy within the items that you can do is massive.
I do understand as to why the game gets so much hate which is due to the monetization.
In grabbing the game, you get to play with the three basic heroes while the others are ONLY obtainable via real currency is just beyond diabolic, not to mention per characters is $20 which is EQUAL to the price of the base game itself.
Is the characters worth it for the price similar to the game value itself? Probably, as you get dozens to hundreds of hours playing synergies within that character. But sure, one could definitely argue that it shouldn't be as equal to the price of the game.

The game heavily punish the unlucky users and whoever stick to one or two users and you are completely cooked if you dare to go against the developer and play the heroes that they deliberately weakened. It is a fun game and has a lot of potentials but It's a shame if it will die quickly because the balance and opponent matching are treated so casually. Guides and such tell yah to get specific items that the RNG may or more likely will not spawn 99 out of 100 chances. Its a gambling app in game form in the addiction nature aspect. Its a horrible excuse for a game that I refused to spend money on beyond getting its base version so the game didn't reward me. If you value your time AT ALL DONT BUY THIS GAME. The game plays like a mix between UR & Hades, which are some of my favourite games, hence the amount of hours I personally put in. Every run you start with a little change to buy cards & shape your deck with every choice you make. The challenging part is that you have limited space and limited money & opponents that were just as eager as you to win.
The artwork is one of my favourite things, the voice acting a bonus.
Overpriced
Expensive game, expensive dlcs, expensive merchandise. Even the plushies are 40$, + they don't even mention the size?? The base game in promotion might be worth it, but most likely you'll end up picking 1, maybe 2 favourite characters that suit your playstyle and there is little benefit to having the others available.
Lacking
The reason I can't recommend is because I feel the game is lacking a lot for the expensive price tag.
1) Modes
Currently there are 3 modes:
° Ranked
° Free play
° PVP
The thing it lacks most is a decent tutorial . It takes a few days to fully understand even with the given "tips" as those don't tell you everything. Reading an online guide might be more helpful if you plan to play.
Ranked and Free Play are nearly identical, except one is harder and rewards you, the other is easier and is a waste of time. Both require about 30 min - 1h per run, so it's a serious time investment for anyone looking to play casually. Another thing is that because the runs are so long it takes forever to get into the legend ranking. Assuming a run is 45 minutes, you're a decent player with an average of 6-7 wins per run, you'd have to do 2 runs (or 1h30) per division, with 5 divisions per rank and the ranks being bronze, silver, gold, and diamond before reaching legend. That's about a 30h investment to reach legend
PVP is still in development and I haven't tried it, so I won't judge
To make buying characters worth it, I feel the game should offer story modes + exclusive character artwork per character.
The game also lacks a shorter form of gameplay, I hope pvp can be just that,..
Minigames could make a fun alternative

° You can only view your collection as a whole, you can't sort it or type in the name of something particular you're looking for
° There's no progress rewards (like titles or other exclusives) for having reached certain amounts of the collection
Not only do rewards feel like you're just getting junk, because the way they give rewards,
YOU. CAN'T. EVEN. GIVE. YOUR. CHARACTERS. PRESETS. Meaning once I like certain cosmetica (skins, boardpieces) I have to click individual cosmetica between switching characters, - every - single - time - I switch & when I choose "random character" the board and skin also randomizes...

I honestly wouldn't mind buying a soundtrack IF it's about as badass as Hades music.

I have a fair amount of hours in this as it was a part of my daily routine, a game on lunch etc, I wouldn't say I got these hours through love of the game, but I appreciated what it was doing and it's direction.
I can appreciate that balancing a game like this is near impossible, so I like that they update early and often to try mix up the metas.
However, it does really feel like there is a focus on the cosmetic, slot-machine-like, dopamine farming approach to progressing the game's sales, and less actually trying to solve making different unique builds viable. A visual > gameplay approach.
As a result, certain heroes and ordained items, especially newer characters, have bright flashing lights and unbelievable power creep to make them feel impressive and a 'must buy' or 'must build'.
The art is great and the art team should be commended, but I am generally disappointed with the overall game and design direction.
To get specific, the game seems to have shifted drastically to a turbo "Charge" meta across many heroes, accelerating rounds, making a large majority of builds completely impotent. There is little to no further exploration of item position, slower scaling or frankly emphasis on strategy.
I likely won't be playing it further, which is sort of a shame because I find its world and art charming, but I just can't be bothered.
As I hate complaining about things without trying to solve the problem, what I would say is, I would like to see some form of reduction of charge item effects, unless they appear much later and at higher tiers, and perhaps focus more on tribe and item placement synergy. Obviously just my thoughts, I'm sure others would hate a slower game.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t
