\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\ti poured 400 hours into this. older monhun fans will try and convince you that this game is bad because its "too easy" and then when you go play MHGU or another obscure monhun game the whole experience feels like getting your balls forcefully vaporized multiple times over because of how clunky and slow the controls feel. do NOT get mind controlled by them. MHRise is good. Wirebugs are cool. The combat feels insanely smooth and intuitive.

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tTo preface, Monster Hunter Rise/Sunbreak is my introduction in the MH franchise. Here are my Pros and Cons after playing 200+ hours in it and I apologize for any grammatical mistakes.
PROS:
1. The gameplay loop is very addicting (Grind monsters - get their loots - craft weapons and armours to fight stronger monsters rinse and repeat).
2. Lots of weapons to choose from with unique skillsets to master.
3. Wirebugs and Palamutes for easier map traversal and mobility when fighting monsters
4. The multiplayer is still abundant even after 5 years after the release with a strong community.
5. The gameplay feels more arcade-y compared to other MH titles (according to MH veterans) which I kind of prefer.
6. The maps are few but has so many hidden areas to explore with abundant endemic creatures that can aid you in your hunts.
7. Awesome BGMs/OSTs right from the get go (Main Menu theme, Kamura Village theme, Shrine Ruins theme, Ibushi & Narwa theme etc.).
8. Played smoothly with zero crashes on my device (Also played smoothly with no issues on Steam Deck).
9. The game is very cheap during sale (around $7 for base game and around $10 for Rise+Sunbreak bundle in my region) with lots of content. It also goes on sale quite frequently.
10. Hinoa and Minoto <3
CONS:
1. You will be bombarded with tutorials after tutorials at the start of the game.
2. Collecting Spiribirds (birds that give additional stats) while optional, can be quite tedious if you try to collect them every hunt (they are essential in late game as monsters hit hard there).
3. The multiplayer is region and platform locked so it is quite hard to find random matches (had to use a mod to bypass it).
4. Some material drop rates are atrocious. Thankfully, Sunbreak introduces a shop where you can purchase these rare materials.
5. Late game grinding involves lots of RNGs (Qurio crafting and Talisman meldings).
Overall, I absolutely enjoyed my experience with Monster Hunter Rise and shot up to be one one of my favorite games in my Steam Library. I get the hype now with this franchise and is very excited to try and play other MH games.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI played this on Switch before getting it on PC and have completed the base game solo and gathering hub quests on both Switch and PC. It's a good installment. I love the wirebug and Palamutes and the customization for your Buddies skills. I have not finished Sunbreak yet myself so I cannot speak on the expansion but base game is a solid entry for the series and runs well for me. I think it's a good game as an intro to the series if you're going to be doing multiplayer with a friend because you can get into the gathering hub relatively quickly after some tutorials after you start your character, where as World was a little janky and you had to finish cutscenes and do specific things before your friend could join you on any hunt for the storyline. The only thing I struggled with is the Rampage quests when I was solo. They were a little rough for me, its kinda like tower defense. You put ballistas and cannons and fight the hordes of monsters that come in waves and protect the gates. Overall it's a really fun Monster Hunter solo or with friends!\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Combat is great in both games, but World's combat is slower and simpler and feels less clunky compared to Rise's. Also the multiplayer is horrible if you want to play with randoms.
I think this game greatly benefits from the Sunbreak expansion and I don't recommend it without it.

It is a perfect fit for a portable game you can jump in, hunt a monster, and have a great time without needing a huge time commitment.
The only major downside is the Spiritbird system. Having to follow a route before a hunt just to collect buffs works against the idea of quick and convenient hunts. I have plenty of issues with this game. I’m not a fan of how monster mounting works, the spiribird mechanic is annoying to do every hunt, I’m not big on the food (the dago just doesn’t look as good as the meals in World), a lot of the side quests will have rewards that don’t pertain to you or just aren’t that enticing so there’s no reason to do them, the rampage missions are god awful.
All of that said, none of it has stopped me from having a great time with Rise

As of writing, I still haven’t even seen close to everything and none of those nitpicks from before are going to stop me from making a pair of boots out of anything that gets put on that quest board\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Nice chill game for after work, balance is skewed pretty heavily in favor of ranged weapons and DBs but that's most MH games anyway. Definitely the most anime out of the games lol. Not a fan of the silkbind cooldowns and how weapons are increasingly designed to just use some big move as often as possible vs combos and positioning but overall still a solid action game especially since this, MHGU, and Iceborne are often on huge discounts. Like yeah the wirebugs let us do a lot of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that makes the game pretty easy at first if you already know how to play a Monster Hunter game, but the later fights are also made much faster and stronger to compensate and I love it. I still gotta go after Scorned and the Risen, but I loved the Amatsu and Primordial fights.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t
