I’m still waiting for the full release before giving my final review, but until then, if you need a game to occupy you for 50 hours or more, it’s an easy pick. You can try dozens of builds, and even after 70 hours of playtime, I still can’t decide which playstyle I truly want.

Personally, I didn't have any issues with the camera, but sprinting and climbing bound to the same button sometimes caused my character to leap onto nearby objects instead of continuing to run. The gameplay is extremely punishing. Also, I absolutely despise RNG resource drops and random effects on crafted gear that can't be altered. ANYWAY, welcome to my quick review of Identity Crisis: The Game.
Why 'Identity Crisis' I hear you ask? Because this game is trying to be everything at once. You have isometric view somewhat similar to Path of Exile, Diablo, or Last Epoch, and systems like affixes/mods and gems for your items - kind of in between what you see in the games I just mentioned. However, you also have Elden Ring style combat (far more forgiving tho, and actually playable on the keyboard), gear durability FOR WHATEVER REASON, daily and weekly quests - even in singleplayer! - like it's some kind of MMORPG, absurd amounts of resource gathering like it's some kind of Stardew Valley, and town building system where you have to farm and refine said resources in order to donate them to the city and restore/upgrade establishments of various NPCs. Uou can also own a house (or a whole bunch of them) and use furniture to decorate each one of them to your liking. We're only missing crops management and tower/city defense mechanics... oh, right, don't forget to cook your meals so you can heal properly!
Don't get me wrong, No Rest For The Wicked does *most* of this stuff well enough to not be a pain in the rear end. Even cutting down 60 trees for a weekly isn't as bad as it may sound at first, but it's not a 10 minute ordeal either. It's just *wicked* to me how many different mechanics has been shoved into this one game simply because they can be added and not because they are needed. It may work for some, might not work for the others; I'm fine with most of the things I just mentioned as I like diversity, but I think that daily and weekly quest system in a game like that is simply ridiculous and trying to keep up with them for a while made me not want to play the game in the first place because of how much backtracking it involved.
Now, when it comes to combat... I have mixed feelings about it. I really enjoy being able to rely on spells as my main source of damage in a game featuring a souls-like combat system, but getting the weapon type you're interested in during the first few hours of playtime can be anywhere from trivial to nigh impossible, heavily depending on your luck to loot and vendor inventory (which only resets ONCE A DAY... IRL DAY!). While it might not sound like a big deal it can quickly become one when you realize that each weapon has a different moveset (even within the same category), different innate ability, different attribute scaling (hoooo boiii don't even get me started on the stat scaling, bloooody hell that system is so random I can't even fathom how it came to be in the first place), and just different levels of playability in general. If you happen to stumble upon something that works well for you, you're going to have a great time and you can even keep using that one weapon for the next 30 hours if you just keep upgrading it along the way. If you don't find something that works well for you, then... well, welcome to the souls neighborhood I suppose?
Another thing I don't understand is the approach to respecialization of attributes. Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I understand if one wants to respec their character they have to find a quest featuring the Cerim Crucible, beat a handful of chambers in order to unlock a respec totem and then spend a special type of currency (in a 1 to 10 ratio) in order to actually reallocate your attributes? That basically means if you screw up hard enough you can get softlocked from progressing through the game and can end up being forced to restart xD It's definitely more of an edge case scenario, but it's not out of the realm of possibility.
To end on a positive note, I actually don't mind how the camera work is being handled. It can catch you a bit off guard at times and resemble something closer to an adventure game like the Trine series, but overall I haven't really had any moments of pure frustration caused by the camera itself, so kudos for that part.
P.S. the 1.0 update can potentially fix half of the problems I have with this game so keep your eyes peeled because it's not a bad game, it's just niche and needs some time before it evolved to its final form.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

I really enjoy being able to rely on spells as my main source of damage in a game featuring a souls-like combat system, but getting the weapon type you're interested in during the first few hours of playtime can be anywhere from trivial to nigh impossible, heavily depending on your luck to loot and vendor inventory (which only resets ONCE A DAY... IRL DAY!). While it might not sound like a big deal it can quickly become one when you realize that each weapon has a different moveset (even within the same category), different innate ability, different attribute scaling (hoooo boiii don't even get me started on the stat scaling, bloooody hell that system is so random I can't even fathom how it came to be in the first place), and just different levels of playability in general. If you happen to stumble upon something that works well for you, you're going to have a great time and you can even keep using that one weapon for the next 30 hours if you just keep upgrading it along the way. If you don't find something that works well for you, then... well, welcome to the souls neighborhood I suppose?
Another thing I don't understand is the approach to respecialization of attributes. Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I understand if one wants to respec their character they have to find a quest featuring the Cerim Crucible, beat a handful of chambers in order to unlock a respec totem and then spend a special type of currency (in a 1 to 10 ratio) in order to actually reallocate your attributes? That basically means if you screw up hard enough you can get softlocked from progressing through the game and can end up being forced to restart xD It's definitely more of an edge case scenario, but it's not out of the realm of possibility.
To end on a positive note, I actually don't mind how the camera work is being handled. It can catch you a bit off guard at times and resemble something closer to an adventure game like the Trine series, but overall I haven't really had any moments of pure frustration caused by the camera itself, so kudos for that part.
P.S. the 1.0 update can potentially fix half of the problems I have with this game so keep your eyes peeled because it's not a bad game, it's just niche and needs some time before it evolved to its final form.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

When I start playing the game runs ok at 60-90 fps with no stutters, but as I keep playing about an 1,5h in the fps starts to plummet and a consistent 0,5 second stutter every 2-3 seconds makes the game unplayable.
I've updated drivers and tweaked the in game settings but nothing stops this issue.

the build variety is not as complex as id like but what is there is engaging, i'm a particular fan of the run in punch run out and then spend my focus taking out adds playstyle. not as much of a fan of the heavy playstyle, the slowness is fairly agitating. but when this game lets you go fast, i have a great time.
on the topic of speed, this game punishes you HARD for going fast at times. a great deal of this game is platforming. the platforming in this game is not all that great, it's hard to feel out what jumps you can and cant make. that mixed with tying the climb/ parkor button to the sprint button makes for some frustrating moments. fall damage is 100% the biggest cause of most of my deaths in this game. which leads to me getting impatient, wanting to go fast, and then once again falling to my death.
another large portion of this game is collecting recourses to build out the main hub. this is by far my least favorite portion of the game. im sure for others they might enjoy going out picking flowers and chopping down trees to feel immersed, but for me it just feels like a road block in the way of my progression. on top of this, npc's have their wares and quests, not timed to in game time, but real life time. this is the part i find unacceptable. having to wait a real life 24 hours for gordon to refill his food supplies is infuriating. that plus the cost of build projects (20 iron bars, 20 tough leather, 15 saltstone, 15 spruce planks, and 5 linen) just for a level 2 shop upgrade is a HUGE time sink. i just want to swing my fists at some plague monsters.
overall i give it 7/10 so far. might be an 8 on full release if they fix some of the gameplay glitches. you might end up stuck in the terrain a fair bit.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

As of writing we're still early in the game but we love the art style and the world building, nothing feels like a grind to waste our time or pad out gameplay. I think durability as a system should be removed since it doesn't feel like it meaningfully adds to gameplay other than taking you out of whatever you're doing to pay a smith taxes.
Enchanting and gem setting are great system that ensures even with the same items your builds can diverge pretty dramatically. The Bounty system changes up previous areas enough to be interesting to explore again. I would say that there is a lot of good in this game, but all of it is undermined by junk in core game mechanics. The greatest offender here is enemy attack patterns. There are way to many attacks that are wrongly telegraphed to the player or impossible to read - large windups that are followed after arbitrary amount of time by a lightning fast strike, jump attacks that stop and hover in the air just for a few extra frames to mess with your parry windows, enemy spamming attacks without giving you much time to retaliate, enemy spamming teleports when you get close to them... It's so bad, that community consensus on the optimal playstyle is to play mage, stay as far away from enemies as possible and just blast them with spells before they can do anything to you. In other words - completly ignoring combat mechanics of the game. A simple visual and/or audio cue for attacks would've gone a long way in making the game playable for melee builds (which are the majority of weapon types btw).
Then there are MMO elements in the single player game. I'm not sure why this game needs grind for resources, daily quests, limited inventory space, long waiting times for resource refinement and so on. I've grinded here more then I've ever grinded in GW2, and that's an actual MMO.
Lastly artstyle. It's unique to say the least. Why most human characters look like that tube monster from Silent Hill 3, with their arms being unbelievably long and thick, and legs short and thin and long faces?. BBEG of this game had such a wide distance between her beady eyes and such a long face, that she look like a goat, which honestly never failed to make me laugh.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

I’d especially like to highlight the visuals: the art style, the animations, and the tactile feel! it’s just amazing.
I recommend giving it a try, especially if you like action RPGs and isometric gameplay.
