\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI havent engrossed myself in the Warhammer universe, so I can't vouch for any specifics regarding the aesthetics, architecture, designs etc.
But I did play Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2, and this game certainly scratchess that itch.
My only complaint is that there aren't that many maps. Obviously, I understand that the devs are making whole new setpieces in some cases, but it wouldn't hurt getting one or two "filler" missions inbetween fully-fledged expansion-level map updates.

This game at it's core is good so players put up with the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and hope for a better future, not realizing that engaging in it is making it worse. \n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI can finally recommend this game after a couple years post-release. The story is nowhere near what was advertised/alluded to with Dan Abnett being namedropped, but what does exist is very well voice acted and is strung together in a believable way.
Microtransaction gear does not look appealing unless you're too deep into 40k, so you won't be tempted! Prices of one-class items should be reduced. There's an introductory 5USD package to help you buy that One Thing you'll inevitably want. The bad part of this is that the earnable cosmetics are pretty damn scarce.
Performance... fluctuates. It got much better after beta, then went downhill again, then back up a little where it now wiggles around. Mostly ends up on the positive side, though the game definitely relies on DLSS.
Why I recommend: the hybrid ranged/melee combat is ridiculously good in a way that will produce a flow state as you viscerally grind your way through enemies to extract yourselves. You will need to find a talent build and weapon combo that calls to you as you climb your way out of the muck. Once you do, you will see exactly what flow state I'm talking about. If you utilize the Coherency mechanic like you're supposed to, even the highest difficulty will eventually feel like scything very bony wheat.
Last but not least: the Zealot's Eviscerator can cut every non-boss enemy in half. Every single one.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Such a great atmospheric game that nails the feel of Warhammer 40k but Nurgle's Corruption keeps seeping into the game making it borderline unplayable after todays update. I love Fatshark, Vermintide was fantastic and i keep trying to sing their praises but every step forward requires three steps back and i can't keep recommending this to friends encouraging them to look past the forest for the trees. I will say the PC version is less choppy than console (XBOX-SX) but by the Throne Fatshark, please please please optimize the game. The game is very good for people who love calculating stuff and people who like games with more detailed mechanics and stuff. I like that a single talent point in the talent tree can make a character feel so different at different difficulties. Essentially, the game is a very difficult horde shooter with a high AND wide skill level for different players.
What makes me not recommend this game is the community. I'm in asia and the community is very toxic. The problem is that is this a TEAM BASED game and the odds of a solo player being successful are low. I mean there are many games which allow both solo and team play like some other games i play, bf6 and space marine 2. You can choose to do it with a team or just play solo. Both of which are fine. But not this game.
Being a new player, you get called names, judged, laughed at and generally not welcome. Not to mention anything higher than 250-300 ping and the game teleports enemies and stuff. But what to do, NA and EU servers have more friendly and patient veterans than asia.
I'm not a star player but after 200 hours, i can do Havoc 30 pretty ok with a few of the games classes. I dont NEED or WANT to do Havoc 40 and i think that is fine. But not in asia.

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI love this game but the performance, servers and netcode is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, in a game where getting hit at the wrong time on high difficulty can end a run these sorts of problems are unnaceptable, I don't know how it's possible for a game with more than 4 years of development can have this absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ performance, this should be the n1 concern of the dev time, more so than new content, I think that the majority of the playerbase would like a lot more the game if you could play it without these issues\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

I wish I was here to talk about the merits of this game, but unfortunately I can no longer get any enjoyment out of it.
The most recent patch — which I was so excited for — added changes to Havoc that make the game feel terrible for me and many other Psyker players. The so-called "fix" to Havoc quelling breaks tapping "R" once to quell peril, which many high-peril Psykers rely on. This quelling change only exists in Havoc — no other game mode has it — so everyone who plays Psyker suffers for it.
Experienced players with muscle memory get burned, and new players who learn the game only to reach endgame content find it broken and feeling terrible. Havoc should be hard — that's what makes it fun — but this sucks the enjoyment out of playing Psyker. Peril management should NOT differ between game modes.
So instead of enjoying the new update, I won't be playing the game I've had since its early days. Please, Fatshark, make this right. No other class has its mechanics broken in Havoc, and this change doesn't exist in any other mode. It doesn't make sense to make quelling behave differently only in Havoc — it just feels wrong.

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tThis review is from the rather casual perspective of a guy who finished every level once with a group of friends and has zero desire to replay and master it for hundreds of hours, so keep that in mind.
That being said - yeah, it’s really fun when it’s just being Left 4 Dead but Warhammer 40K. Slicing through giant, juicy waves of cannon fodder while being thrown into frantic panic situations by minibosses is highly entertaining and enjoyable. Also, the godlike soundtrack by my boi Jesper Kyd cements that sense of drive with a bow on top. A+ stuff.
It’s what sets it apart from Left 4 Dead that I have a problem with.
First of all, the levels are just way too dаmn long. I really don’t know what stopped them from just putting checkpoint saferooms-style in elevators that already split the level into several smaller areas. Without them, the game just kinda forces us to sleepwalk through like 25 minutes of been-there-done-that filler to get to the actually challenging bits on replays.
Second, the amount of upgradeables in this game is absurdly comical. You can upgrade every little thing in like five different ways in five different parts of the hub, and it absolutely becomes cumbersome after a while. I don’t see a valid reason not to have one «upgrade guy» and one «buy-or-upgrade gun» page right in the main menu and leave it at that. All it did for me as it stands now is discourage me from ever changing my gun at the thought of having to run around through all this nonsense again.
The game has a lot of throwing things at a wall and seeing what sticks in general. I don’t know whose bright idea it was to put optional pace-braking puzzles in this fast-paced shooter, but here they are. At least they are optional, and you can eventually persuade your party to stop wasting your time on them.
Last but certainly not least - this game’s dialogue system is downright hostile to groups that play the whole game with the same set of characters. It works fine with randos, but in the same party, the same long-аss dialogues start repeating so gratingly often that third-party please-shut-up-already mods are kind of a must. This problem sounds petty, but it really is not. It is so dаmn annoying.
It is still a fine enough game overall, and I might return to it if they release some new maps.
