An absolutely essential piece of interactive storytelling, by my metrics. Amazing writing, acting, directing, editing, and effects work. It deserved all the praise it got and then some. Manon Gage &amp; Charlotta Mohlin are genuinely treasures.<br><br>My complaints are broadly small and to do with the game mechanics. While part of the game's charm is in its dedication to narrative, many pieces of the story are left at the whim of nature for the player to discover them -- be that through random chance, or through esoteric mechanics. I also felt the credits rolled just a tad too quickly.<br><br>Regardless of those flaws, if you come in ready to dig into a alternate-reality mystery immersed in the world of film production, you won't leave disappointed. you to focus on looking at different motifs and questioning the authors' intents. It's a game designed around multiple layers and all you can do to navigate them is follow a plot thread. Want to see portrayals of death? Of nudity? Of the cross? Want to see roles that an actor played and how their career develops? Want to follow the use of a murder weapon? It NEEDS you to come up with your own questions and narrative as you explore. I think the reviews reflect who that doesn't work for, and that's no disrespect; it's not for everyone.<br><br>And for that, I think it's a fantastic work of literature. There's so much meat on the bone here, and your experience will be worsened if you're focused on just finding 'The True Timeline'. This is a script written in the real world about multiple scripts written in a fictional world and the fictional &quot;real&quot; characters playing fictional fictional characters who are sometimes themselves disguised as other fictional fictional characters based on fictional &quot;real&quot; characters, and real artists that made fictional art by fictional artists of fictional fictional characters. If you're not questioning the meaning of the masks they're wearing and you're just playing detective, you'll be frustrated. Large amounts of the text aren't geared toward that approach; this isn't Her Story.<br><br>If it's not clear, I like that. I think I'm going to find myself thinking about it in little ways for a while. I do think that like any &quot;hidden object&quot; kind of game, which you could compare this to, it kind of needs a hint system for when you're trying to see everything. It's very difficult to know which paths have been explored beyond a certain point. That's not necessary for finishing the game, but it's a problem if you want to take it very slowly and see everything (which I still have not).\t\t\t\t\t<div
