This is not exactly a continuation to the first The Forest, it's a completely different timeline.
The map is larger, there are more caves, and of course there is the same thing with OP items. When you find a cave, and get OP item from it at the start, the learning curve shifts into a much lower gear. I experienced this myself with my friend, when he got those gliders. Suddenly, travelling was no issue.

The story is that you are finding a bilionaire lost somewhere on the island, but it's really surface-level story, and I don't care about it really.

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tSons of the Forest has more to offer than the first game, but it somehow manages to be worse. Your "helper" is more of a burden than an actual useful npc. He forgets what you told him to do and is just generally an idiot. For example, if you tell him to stay home, 25 minutes later he leaves the base and walks across to the entire other side of the map to find you. You're better off just doing everything yourself. The enemies tear through your base and armor you spent half an hour making, and they raid your base constantly so you can never get anything productive done. At least they added an option to turn off building damage like the first game, but you have to turn it on every time you want to edit something you built. The ending is unsatisfying and disappointing. Remember the story from the first game? Well it doesn't matter because this game has barely anything to do with the first one. The moronic devs also somehow made the building system worse. It's hard to explain what I mean. If for some unfathomable reason you decide to play this pile of horse dung, you'll see what I mean.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

The world looks awesome with very bright sunsets and THE DARKEST caves and nights lmao. The building feels really good, pretty much a straight rip from the 1st but more responsive and can be dove into to make more complex in a way. I went for t5he 100% and its not too bad, just superrrrr buggy. ACHIEVEMENTS are huge for me so the fact it took HOURS for the game to register the progress wasn't really fun. Some of the actions needed to be done are easier to do in creative mode and using the console - that should never be the case. Nonetheless, the jump scare element still works great in the setting. It does what it does great, its a horror game at heart, and a survival game no doubt, and the fact that you can customize just how scary and just how hard the survival is puts it a step above many other games. Ive always felt that a game like this would be so much more enjoyable with others, and while i have freinds i play with occasionally, NPC Kelvin gives me the utility of a second player while still allowing me to play solo. great game, story is alright, pretty good lore built in, will keep you on your toes even if you are an experienced "The Forest" vet\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t
