\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tElden Ring was my first souls game. I started on PS4 and got the platinum, then did the same on PS5, and now I’ve finally 100% completed it on Steam.
After playing it this much, I can easily say it’s one of my favorite games of all time. The world, exploration, bosses, builds, there’s just so much to this game, and I never got tired of coming back to it.
If you’ve never played a souls game before, I still highly recommend giving elden ring a try. It was my first one too, when I first played it, I had no idea what I was doing and ended up looking up videos to figure things out since the game doesn't really guide you like most games do. dnt be afraid to look things up if you're stuck, take your time, explore, and learn the game at your own pace.

It also means you can always go somewhere else if you get stuck on a boss, making the game way less flustrating.
That said, if you ever struggle on a boss, consider using Fingercalling Remedy and summon a friend to help you to have some \\[T]/ Jolly Cooperation \\[T]/ \t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

So. I'm an anxious gamer and I come from the Legend of Zelda method of Dodging Away From Things. I enjoy tactical RPGs, story-driven games, and nothing too bleak. Soulslikes just didn't seem to be my cup of tea. I'm also get extremely frustrated if I die too many times and have ragequit or even refunded games that did this because to me, they never seemed fun to play.
Over 1,000 hours later and Elden Ring has FUNDAMENTALLY changed my gaming style and the type of gamer I am. That is no easy feat to accomplish.
This was a hesitant "let me try it out" after my husband (who's an avid Souls gamer and FromSoft fan) insisted I give it a shot. I've played alone as well as on PC with the Seamless Co-Op mod. Yes, I've died. Yes, I've panic-rolled. Yes, I am aware of the 'git gud' principle. But ER has forced me to unlearn A LOT of the things I've learned growing up gaming.
Instead of dodging away and playing safe, ER will ACTIVELY punish me for it, so it's forced me to sometimes dodge INTO attacks, and get aggressive.
Even if I run spellcasters, NO IT IS NOT EASY MODE, YOU ARE ALL FULL OF LIES IF YOU SAY IT IS. FP management, stamina management, YOU STILL HAVE TO PROPERLY DODGE and have AT LEAST 1 MELEE ATTACK FOR BOSSES RESISTANT TO MAGIC. ER as well as other Soulslikes teach you that sometimes, the only way through obstacles is THROUGH them. It'll drag you kicking and screaming through that obstacle, and you will die. You will die a lot. But you will get through that obstacle, one way or another.
So yes, I've raged when I die, but ER does something different. Instead of throwing my controller and powering down my PC, I say, "let's try one more time."
So my message to those who struggle with failure and anxiety in games like this, I say this: Every death, every loss, is data. It's information on what NOT to do. Suddenly, the attempts aren't a "wow, I suck," it's a "what did I learn from this attempt? And can I try new methods in this next one?" By the time you succeed, and you see the words "ENEMY FELLED" across your screen, the euphoria you feel is very real. It's rewarding. It's the reason I keep coming back.
Also, the visuals in this game are GORGEOUS. Take the time to look around. There's so much environmental storytelling it's amazing. You don't need to be spoonfed everything or told everything. Look at how dilapidated Stormveil Castle is. Look closely at the holes gaping in the walls. Look at the trail of brown liquid in Caria Manor, just above Pidia's quarters, and you'll know just how low Carians regarded Albinaurics that they POURED chamber pots above where one lives. You'll have an NPC imply there's a deceased demigod rotting away underneath the sacred tree. How'd you find that out? Go explore! Look around. The world is your oyster.
So yeah. Elden Ring changed my life. So much so, that I have time in Dark Souls I, II, and III.
Buy it. Let it forge you in fire. Let it teach you how to fail, and how to get back up.

The open world, with its fantastic atmosphere, scenery, and unique locations, takes your breath away. While horseback combat featuring double jumps adds a special thrill to exploration. Magnificent, mesmerising music that makes you want to just stand there and listen.
Character progression opens up a sea of possibilities, and the storyline - with its unexpected twists, charismatic bosses, and heartfelt NPC - leaves you with a pleasant sense of emptiness after the ending; you’ve experienced so much that your emotions are overwhelming.
Stunning visual effects, especially during the boss battles.
The boss designs, their attacks, and their backstories command genuine respect, while the intricate puzzles and secret paths make every discovery a joy. It’s especially gratifying that the world is alive and changes based on your actions.
But it's not without downsides:
- Ranni’s Tower is a nightmare in itself: the constant fear of lag, the need to use backups and hacks (I really hope they fix this);
- Frequent player invasions: when a 100lvl player invades to 1lvl, it’s infuriating. There’s no way to disable it;
- Boss attacks sometimes lag heavily;
- NPC quests also suffer from lag and bugs;
- Repetitive bosses: out of 120 battles, only about 10 are unique;
- Over-grinding: if you loot everything in sight, the game becomes too easy by the middle;
- You have to piece the story together bit by bit: item descriptions, little details in locations, but there’s so little information in cutscenes and dialogues that it’s easier to google it;
- Without a mod, you can’t really play cooperatively;
- There aren’t many endings, and the additional ones just change the color.
The ending is a plot twist, but the conclusion itself feels very hollow. After such an epic journey and such intense emotions, that’s just it - the end. Yes, it makes you reflect, think things through, or dwell on your thoughts after the game. But this revolution for the sake of nothing - for me, it was very sad to end this way.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tAs someone who has not played many Souls Like game, Elden Ring is probably one of the most beautiful games I have played. I finished Base Game + DLC in around 183h, at level 289 (started as Wretch, and as in all RPGs I play, choose to Mage Build).
The freedom to go wherever you like it's what makes this game unique.
Also regarding the difficulty, which many players debate, Elden Ring (and Shadow of the Erdtree) is, in my honest opinion, the easiest of them all. The game can be hard if people make it so. You can go for example to Godrick at level 10 or 20, no Summon, and struggle to beat it, or take on Malenia level 100 or less.... or go level 250 like I did, summon your Spirit Ash and have an easier time.
Some people want to learn bosses moves, skills, patterns etc, for some others game is an exploration to go everywhere, explore every corner and collect everything possible and enjoy the views.
Also, when people say without a guide you can't make a decent build, they are wrong. I explored (at least tried to) every possible corner and 90% of the items I have got them through this system. You can make an OP build easy if you explore and not go straight forward with little to none exploration.
On base game I tried to explore and do every dungeon/cave if I could (of course after finished all Limgrave, Liurnia and Caelid I looked up Internet to see if I missed some dungeons, and for sure but like 3-4 at best). For example, Lusat Glinstone staff is easy to find, not hard at all literally after you kill 2 bosses. Staff of Loss if you search up (i usually every zone i explored everything and killed every monster possible to explore the area safer and better) you can find it, so here you have 2 great weapons for your mage. After that is just exp-ing. Most of the OP items you can find along the road, since they either drop or are easy to find (with some exceptions)
Finding Mohg Palace (the EXP Zone), that its not hard, just follow Varre questline and after a while you can go, no need rush (or in Concentrated Snowfield Teleport)........... and all the rest.
DLC is harder that's for sure, but Night Comet is OP so you have easier time to kill bosses, just Consort Radahn was the most difficult but the others were pretty straight forward and easy (Midra, Romina and others)
As I said, Elden RIng is a hard game if you make it so. I was able to finish all achievements in 1 run (with local save ofc, so you do not need to make NG+ or whatever).
In general Elden Ring is a beautiful game, with awesome areas, huge map and very well made bosses.

In fact, i find some of the boss fights genuinely tedious, especially in the DLC and the quests required to unlock the different endings, as well as the storytelling in general, aren't particularly great either.
At this point, someone might think I hate the game, but it's quite the opposite. I love it because of its open world and the sheer variety of builds you can create. On that note, I think Elden Ring should have launched with a loadout system that allowed you to save your builds and switch between different playstyles with more ease. That's another small flaw in my opinion.
When it comes to the open world though, it's exceptional. I absolutely loved being in this world, exploring it, discovering secrets, new bosses, new loot, entire new regions of the map and even the underground areas. It's spectacular.
It's easily my favorite open world game of the last decade.

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tAfter playing the game for 1000 hours and then losing all my progress and playing it for a another 600 hours i can safely say this is the best game i have ever touched and I played it on a PC that did not even give it the justice it deserves and it changed my gaming career.
Elden ring is the definition of the game of the year. It is beyond beautiful and extremely immersive. the world building is phenomonal and the fights are even better. every cutscene gave me genuine goosebumps and overall the game is just great.
In the main categories i have for a game it sets a standard that is beyond the normal gaming experience. to start off the scenery and setting of the game is just beautiful. From the first area you really walk into till the arena of the final boss it does not ever disapoint and it is beautiful through and through. there are times where the game looks disgusting but it is so well made and detailed that the "disgusting" areas of the game still look great. They use scenery to create anxiety about a boss being hard and awe with the area you are either in or going into.
The actual gameplay is almost perfect. It is a somewhat difficult game. i believe there are definitely harder games but this game is not easy by any means. some bosses you will go into and molly whop like c bum vs a baby and some bosses will make you genuinely throw your controller across the room but the satisfaction of beating that boss is so great it makes you play the game for another couple of hours until you get to the next one. like i said some fights are hard and some of the tiny minor bugs with bosses do get annoying such as specific arenas and dodge timing moments that feel impossible but even with those extremely minor flaws the game is extremely well done when it comes to combat. just don't go fighting birds and dogs in caelid. or bears, or birds in storm hill, or well just make sure you don't go charging in all the time. you may regret it. overall though the combat is great but takes some time to get used to. I also love how the scaling and the many ways of buffing yourself make it so that there are so many different playstyles in the game and every single one is just as fun and good as the rest. even mimic tear. Just because you decided to suffer (as did i) without mimic doesn't mean you need to hate on everyone who uses it. it is in the game for a reason and that reason is to use it the way it works. stop hating on people who want to have fun playing a hard game.

Most fights are also very well balanced with some unfair fights like godskin duo or unfair moves like waterfowl dance but after enough learning you can avoid those attacks and counter the duo fights. So overall if you keep pushing and challenging yourself you'll enjoy this game. Anyone who wrote a negative review is honestly just lazy and probably quit at the first sign of adversity.
