During that time, I've experienced both what the game does really well and the areas where I think it still needs improvement. I've also been grinding regularly, so I've had the chance to experience most of the game's content. Overall, I'm really enjoying the game. Here are the biggest pros and cons in my opinion.
PROS
-The atmosphere of Arrakis is incredible. It really makes you feel like you're part of the Dune universe.
-Sandworms add constant tension and excitement to exploration.
-Flying an Ornithopter is an absolute blast and makes traveling enjoyable.
-The base building system is much more detailed than I expected.
-The crafting system is rewarding and always gives you something to work toward.
-The survival mechanics, especially water management, fit the setting perfectly.
-The graphics, especially the desert landscapes, are stunning.
-The variety of builds gives the game plenty of replay value.
-Exploration feels rewarding, and there's always something new to discover.
-Playing with friends makes the experience even better.
CONS
-The endgame starts to feel repetitive after a while.
-Running the same camps and Imperial Testing Stations over and over can get boring.
-PvP balance still doesn't feel quite right.

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI'm sad because this is a very good game in many ways. The universe is appealing and immersive, the base-building is very well-done. I don't mind some grind, this was a good balance. The reason I'm sad is because I was hoping for a good solo experience, and I found it just too difficult. I'm an experienced gamer, albeit with old man reflexes - but I've beaten Dark Souls and other "difficult" games through persistence and craftiness, so I'm no slouch either. I can see how the quests could be very fun in a group. They're designed for that. I'm talking about game-progression quests that unlock necessary crafting recipes - these aren't optional - death really hurts when you've got a long way back to your corpse, and chances are you won't make it and end up losing everything - I can see why it was designed this way, and if I was playing with friends all of these issues would be mitigated enough - but solo it's just too hard to be fun - for me. A gamer with higher skills and more experience may find the challenge to be exhilarating but for me it was just an exercise in frustration which is not why I like gaming.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

The story was average and felt much like conan exile building wise. The progression is most of the content so dont expect much after it.
Endgame is empty now and the new landsraad system and recycled testion stations just feels like a chore to do. They did split up the Deep desert aswell so you got a pvp and a pve now. So if you buying it to get the "Arrakis experience" you wont since that is gone now. There no harsh or unforgiving stuff anymore or faction wars in Deep desert so it just a classic spice/titanium loot simulator now.
For solo players since they expect to be able to play solo in a "MMO" game which it aint anymore and its quite possible to solo it. They are working on a singleplayer version that will come 22 sept unless they change the release date.
Funcom had no backbone and chose the easiest development route instead making it an unique experience. But what we got now is just a game living on maintence mode being a chore simulator.

The early game is great. Exploring the world, building your base, upgrading your equipment, getting better vehicles, and progressing through the different systems feels rewarding. For a long time, I always had something to work toward.
My problem with the game is what happens once you reach the endgame.
At some point, the progression just stops. You have the gear, the resources, the vehicles, and then you realize there isn't much left to do. The game starts feeling repetitive very quickly. Every time I logged in, I found myself doing the same things over and over without any real goal.
A lot of people, including me, expected PvP to carry the endgame, but it never really did. The fights weren't interesting enough to keep me invested long-term, and after a while they felt more like a grind than actual fun.
The game also has a habit of wasting your time. Losing hours or even days of progress doesn't create excitement—it creates frustration. In a survival game some risk is expected, but there has to be a balance.
The frustrating part is that I don't hate the game. Quite the opposite. I enjoyed it enough to spend hundreds of hours playing it. That's why it's disappointing. The foundation is good, the atmosphere is excellent, and it feels like Dune. But eventually you reach a point where you ask yourself why you're logging in, and the game doesn't really have an answer.
If you're a Dune fan, you'll probably get your money's worth. I certainly did. Just don't expect a strong endgame or endless content. After a certain point, Game becomes a beautiful desert with very little left to discover.
As a PvP player, I absolutely cannot recommend this game.
The biggest issue is that the developers have done the exact opposite of what they originally marketed. Many players bought into the vision they presented, only to watch the game move in a completely different direction after launch.
They consistently ignore feedback from the PvP community and focus almost exclusively on PvE-oriented updates. Instead of expanding endgame PvP, faction warfare, territory control, or meaningful player conflict, they continue making changes that reduce risk and player interaction.
For example, they slowed down ornithopter rockets, turned half of the Deep Desert—the game's main endgame area—into a PvE zone, and eventually split the servers into PvE and PvP environments. Decisions like these completely changed the identity of the game and removed much of the tension and excitement that originally attracted many PvP players.
After these updates, the player population dropped significantly, and honestly, it's not hard to understand why.
The game currently holds around a 70% positive review score, but I strongly disagree with that rating. In my opinion, it's inflated by people who simply love the Dune universe or players who primarily enjoy PvE content. If you're looking for a PvP-focused MMO with meaningful risk, competition, and long-term endgame goals, this is not the game that was promised.

Some of the dialogue is cringey but you'll get that in action-RPG's, ya gotta cover that backstory somehow. Private servers is the way to go; I couldn't imagine playing this with rando's fogging up the place. Early game can be punishing - knowing is half the battle. Practice blade blocking with the low level mobs until it's instinctual, you will never not need it. One warning - there is not much hand holding in questing. Sometimes you will search through crowds of nearly identical people to find the one you can talk to. Sometimes you cannot repeat dialogue trees. Sometimes the McGuffin isn't obvious, and you will pixel hunt (think Mankirk's Wife). Good for RPG feeling, but annoying after a half-hour. The respawn speed can be a bit high on default and can't be adjusted as of 10Aug26, but it's not unmanageable. Fun in groups! Oh, and the enemy apparently has access to all the same skills and equipment you do, so don't be surprised when the first boss hands you your ass with a Bene Gesserit combo.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Sure the unreal engine visuals look great, game play is frustrating annoying and downright stress inducing. Quests are vague, fight mechanics are a nightmare, and don't get me started on random worm attacks (when the sandworm isn't even in your vicinity) that rob you of everything. I had no idea this was an mmorpg, it's listed as open world, crafting and survival, if it had the mmorpg tag on it I wouldn't have touched it. I've had keyboard smashing moments from completely out of the blue, Ever try switching weapons while in combat, pretty everywhere else...except here, if you get caught using anything except a weapon the game does not allow you to switch to a weapon, if there's some trick to it, it doesn't appear in the literature and you have to die before it will allow you to switch. The dodgy camera angles and movement mechanics is annoying as hell. In short I've seen all of this done much better with lower visual quality.

Even on min. to max. graphic settings it runs like ♥♥♥♥, it stutters and breaks the grafic whenever you move to fast or even just try to turn around. The combat itself its meehh because of the wonky camara that has no problem to get stuck above your head and shows how bad your hairline looks when you get to close to an object. The melee combat is through the block function that only some times work or only triggers when it wants more luck based.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

I took a break a few months ago and decided to come back when new content dropped and other were annouced. Unfortunately, I went on holiday and logged back in to find my base powered down. Losing a few vehicles wasn't the main issue, but I had all my resources stored in the large cargo container for the transport ornithopter. It was destroyed, taking 100+ hours worth of grind and farmed materials with it.
I know managing power was ultimately on me, but losing that much progress is an immediate exit point for me. I don't see myself recovering from that setback or returning anytime soon. It was a good game for what it was, but that's where my journey ends. the lost does leave a after taste i must say\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Single player requires joining a server (just because). Had to trawl through the region list to find server in a very different part of the world which has a "Standard" server to join (because none are in my region and none of it is automated or intelligent enough to find one by itself). Not interested in MMO, just want a good single player story campaign, wasted 30 minutes trying to figure out if I had started the wrong executable. I just want to download a game and play it, not spend time trying to work out if the game has falsely advertised a single player mode. There were no helpers along the way to explain that single player mode requires a server or why (really not an obvious move there devs - seems shifty to me, there are only a few reasons why you would want to join server for single player mode and all of them are great for the dev, but really not great for the user.) I'm not going to applaud it, it should be vehemently discouraged.
2 hours gameplay, trying to figure out the basic building mechanics (how to simply rotate an object so that its facing the right way) and I'm being constantly threatened with dehydrating to death. If you can't make the controls VERY VERY VERY obvious, then don't constantly threaten me with death when I know what to but can't figure out how to get your interface to do it, and a timely tutorial for basic construction controls seems non-existent (not sure why as fighting was quite well covered). I can handle death by Arrakis due to my own errors, it's a harsh planet, but to be given death due to the shortcomings of the UI is a MAJOR turnoff.
This has become a whining chore of a game to play due to idiotic dev decisioning after just 2 hours. Major red flag. I'm taking it as indicative of how much dev interface decisioning will ruin what should have been an awesome story to come (which I've now chosen to never experience). Reloads just to work out controls utterly disruputing the immersiveness and flow of the gameplay. It turns a natural learning experience into a forced debug session (that's work in my book, not play.) I'm not taking the risk at playing further as I haven't the patience for half-arsed experiences. Feels like it was rushed out to meet deadline TBH.
If it ever improves and makes a good user experience it'll probably be an old game which I'm no longer interested in by then. Money not well spent, even at 40% off.

There were no helpers along the way to explain that single player mode requires a server or why (really not an obvious move there devs - seems shifty to me, there are only a few reasons why you would want to join server for single player mode and all of them are great for the dev, but really not great for the user.) I'm not going to applaud it, it should be vehemently discouraged.
2 hours gameplay, trying to figure out the basic building mechanics (how to simply rotate an object so that its facing the right way) and I'm being constantly threatened with dehydrating to death. If you can't make the controls VERY VERY VERY obvious, then don't constantly threaten me with death when I know what to but can't figure out how to get your interface to do it, and a timely tutorial for basic construction controls seems non-existent (not sure why as fighting was quite well covered). I can handle death by Arrakis due to my own errors, it's a harsh planet, but to be given death due to the shortcomings of the UI is a MAJOR turnoff.
This has become a whining chore of a game to play due to idiotic dev decisioning after just 2 hours. Major red flag. I'm taking it as indicative of how much dev interface decisioning will ruin what should have been an awesome story to come (which I've now chosen to never experience). Reloads just to work out controls utterly disruputing the immersiveness and flow of the gameplay. It turns a natural learning experience into a forced debug session (that's work in my book, not play.) I'm not taking the risk at playing further as I haven't the patience for half-arsed experiences. Feels like it was rushed out to meet deadline TBH.
If it ever improves and makes a good user experience it'll probably be an old game which I'm no longer interested in by then. Money not well spent, even at 40% off.
