\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tOMORI is probably my favourite psychological horror game I’ve played, right up there with DDLC.
What hit me hardest wasn’t even the horror itself, it was how familiar some of Sunny’s coping mechanisms felt. The whole idea of retreating into your own head, building a safer version of reality, avoiding things because facing them feels too difficult, and just sort of existing in that numb in-between state — that stuff got to me way more than I expected.
Headspace especially really stuck with me. At first it just feels like this colourful, goofy RPG world full of weird enemies and dumb jokes, but the longer you play, the more you realise what it actually represents. It’s comfort. It’s avoidance. It’s somewhere you can go where everything is familiar and nothing truly has to change.
Then there’s White Space, which somehow feels even more real in a different way. Just sitting there. Nothing happening. Nothing hurting, but nothing really moving forward either.
The game slowly takes all of that comfort away from you and forces you to look at what’s underneath it. And that’s where OMORI became genuinely upsetting for me, because it didn’t feel like I was just watching a character deal with something anymore. There were moments where I understood why Sunny wanted to stay in his own head.
The horror is incredible because it isn’t just “scary imagery = scary.” So much of it is built around memory, guilt, repression and the fear of confronting something you’ve spent years avoiding. Tiny details that seem random at the start suddenly mean everything once you understand them. Stairs, doors, photos, the piano, the violin, even lines you barely paid attention to.
By the ending I was completely emotionally cooked. And even after finishing it, I kept thinking about earlier scenes and realising what they meant in hindsight.
The soundtrack is beautiful, the characters feel genuinely lovable, and the contrast between Headspace and the darker parts of the game is insane.
Some sections drag a little and the combat can get repetitive, but I honestly stopped caring about that by the end.

and by some miracle i didn't get spoiled at all

I have a few complaints about it, but nothing that would make me NOT recommend it— my only gripes really apply on repeat playthroughs, such as not being able to skip long cutscenes. This game wasn't built for achievement hunting though, so I can't blame it too much. This game was built for story, which it delivers on impeccably. If you haven't played this game before, I strongly recommend going in as blind as possible for the best experience. This game is so good at making you care about these characters. The story of what happens to them is devastating and all the little interactions between them are so endearing. Genuinely one of my favorite games despite my nitpicks, if you like emotional character focused stories and turn-based combat this game is gonna be a great pick for you.

I feel so conflicted with the endings but I think it was left at a perfect spot and the good ending was well done. If you enjoy Undertale or, especially, Deltarune you need to play Omori.

I always wanted to play this game, and now that I finally got to finish it, I can say this was the fastest 34 hours of my life. i'll definitely do a different route next time hehe. After a certain point in the game however, I started to enjoy the journey (tbh I think this was after halfway through the game so a bit late xd). If your a big game OST guy like myself then I think you'll like some of the music from this game
Ending spoilers: I did only get one ending (the good ending) but I do think it was kind of baloney with all the comforting that was done by his imaginary friends, I remember one of them saying that "just because you did a bad thing, it doesn't mean you're a bad person" but I feel like it would have been better if he just accepted that he is a flawed person instead of gaslighting himself to believing that he is a completely good char. \t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t
