Ten thousand positive reviews got here before I did, the discourse has been settled for years, and my contribution to it amounts to nodding politely and saying yes, that was indeed pretty good. Which is unfair to the game, honestly. I have spent the intervening years playing simulators that learned from this one, refined its ideas, sanded down its rough patches, and then I circled back to the source and found myself comparing it to its own descendants. That is nobody's fault but mine.
Setting that aside, the game absolutely delivers on what it promised. You buy a derelict station in the middle of a desert, clear out the debris, paint the walls, repair equipment, and slowly transform an eyesore into somewhere travelers might voluntarily stop. Every improvement lands with obvious weight because you can see it. Not a stat sheet buried in a menu telling you your throughput increased by twelve percent, but an actual physical change to the property you have been sweating over! Watching your station evolve visually across dozens of hours is the single most satisfying thing here, and it is enough to carry the whole experience on its own.
Where the game loses me is the endgame, which never quite unclenches. Management systems eventually let you offload work onto employees, and that automation genuinely does relieve some of the pressure, but a stubborn set of tasks refuses to be delegated. Running the movie projector and dealing with the popcorn remain permanently yours, forever, no matter how large your operation grows or how many people you employ. The result is an endgame that should feel like presiding over an empire but instead feels like being the owner who still has to work the concession stand personally. Whether this is intentional design or an oversight is unclear to me, and either answer is a little disappointing.

I normally don't review games, and I normally don't play Simulators, so when I tell you that this game has overtaken my life and I am now a die hard fan eagerly awaiting other games by Drago, it should say a lot.
You buy a gas station, and run it. That's the game. But there's something about it that scratches a particular itch if you like managing businesses in games. Between pumping gas, buying chips, soda and smokes and then selling them at profit, fixing cars or running a car wash, there is never a shortage of things to do.
There is a bit of grind to this game, and normally I would hate that, but things come at a good pace to make progress feel earned, and the rewards worth it. The Route 66 americana style for the visuals is just icing on the cake, giving the whole experience a nostalgic vibe I can't help but adore.
I'll be writing reviews for the DLCs as well (except Tidal Wave, it doesn't interest me as much), which again, says a lot about how much I love this game. The experience is going to get even better in the future with a new DLC and integration with their other upcoming games too, so expect this review to not only hold up, but become outdated in a good way!\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

I See the menu option on my store PC but it will not let me click on it. I did some googling and read that the station needs to be at a level 3 in order to unlock the employee trailer. I am not closing in on level 5 and have no ability for the employee trailer yet. Whats going on? Was there an update that i didnt see or something?

Things I liked about it

> The shark minigame in Tidal Wave is fun
What I didn't like about it/I criticise:
> Get's stale quickly, sense of progression does not carry over to workload fully
> Boring/Tedious/Repetitive tasks
> The game peaks in the beginning, the rest is just a grind
> The Tidal Wave DLC is incredibly lazy. Why do I have to service cars, secluded tropic dock btw, and if there have to be cars it should have been buggys and suvs? It could have been made exclusive for boats. I can't sell tropical snacks or drinks, like cocktails, why? The party boat looks like a bus and was made incredibly lazily, I didn't like that. The party people also come with suits, to a tropical island? Lazy. Give them hawai shirts and shorts and sunglasses. I also didn't like that I had a Popularity 10 save and had to start a tidal wave one from anew, the grind is insane as it is. The sewer thing right next to the gas station and ocean, really?

As you can see, there are a few nice positive points, but a lot of very specific and severe negative points.
The game devs seem to have focused on medium fidelity content more than anything, and what I mean by that is, doing just enough to get it through QA and out the door. I get that it's a limited effort project, you wanna focus on other stuff, but this game is incredibly representative of this studio and the number of kinda not so cheap DLCs shows me there is still some motivation to make it better.
Broader mechanics were not thought through, so macro fidelity content suffers. The game loop get's tedious and boring, it lacks variety and depth.
Details are neglected, as mentioned with the ice cream store. Mapping clips into stuff, especially the Tidal Wave DLC.
Overall a nice game, but playing it for as long as I did is probably a stretch.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Could I still play the game using 3440 x 1440 settings? Yes, but if they have a 5k option in game In should be able to use it. Especially seeing how good the game looked on the revamp update trailer on Steam.

I've actually compared every other similar type of simulator to it afterwards. Unfortunately after a point, the FPS started dropping to the point where it was no longer fun. However, by that point I had gotten through the main storyline and, for lack of a better term, 'gotten my moneys worth'.
