This game does it perfectly, with old-school map exploration and challenging combat. The combat itself is really well thought out with both beautiful and intuitive animations. In short, the game isn’t as hardcore, but I can already tell that the pros are going to be pulling off some absolutely insane combos. There are tons of moves available to the protagonist.
The rune system is a really cool idea. I actually found my first rune completely by accident in a secret passage. There are all kinds of passive abilities, and you can combine runes too. It’s a shame you can’t make Rune Words like in Diablo 2. Although maybe you can? I just haven’t figured it out yet. Dev, add Rune Words!
There’s also a reference to Mel Gibson’s Apocalypto: when you leave the village and see the ships in the background, I immediately remembered the ending of the movie.
One thing I haven’t figured out yet is the notice boards. I thought I’d be picking up monster-hunting contracts like Geralt, but so far they seem to be mostly there for atmosphere.
So far, I’m really enjoying the game, especially the combat!

Its snappy, has weight, and has a bunch of little touches that make it just blend together into a dance that make sums up to something greater than its parts. Its simple and straight forward as is a lot of things in this game but they are done well. the platforming is not too hard, the combat in general is the right level of difficulty (unless your a souls like level masochist). The bosses so far were a joke but they were fun to fight. I can tell this will be on the shorter side already but honestly its been fun to play so far. i actually cannot complete the game because of this issue, the enemies literally have a frame 1 attack sequence that you cannot predict. every perfect parry I've done is basically just luck at this point because i don't understand how a human being can block a single frame attack.
