The story is okay, nothing groundbreaking. It is a story about politics and the role of media in politics which very much gives off the vibe of "enlightened centrist on the internet" wherein it tries to criticize both sides of the political spectrum but really fails to engage with either in any depth beyond caricaturizing them.
However, the story is also incredibly entertaining as it is filled with numerous funny moments and zany characters, so it's definitely still worth going through just for that.
The gameplay is surprisingly incredibly engaging and can be quite challenging in the later levels. Think FNAF but instead of trying to stave off animatronics, you're trying to keep a TV broadcast looking professional while dealing with a multitude of distractions and things going wrong in the studio.

I saw the game described as whack-a-mole and I don't entirely agree, but I do agree with another part of the sentiment: endless tutorializing. I was expecting after a while we would have the mechanics fully integrated and from there we would be honing skills but some issues are literally one off gimmicks that never come back, to the point where one is even completely removed AFTER it's used instead of sticking around in the office for you to mess with.
I find the politics interesting, and I feel it is more than what's on the surface (eg: political parties and movements can be syncretic, promising progressive economics and social projects while also being deeply totalitarian) but my issue comes in with the writing. This game follows a dystopian narrative and often plays its characters up for a laugh. It aproaches heavy themes satirically. It points things out. Laughs at them. And shows that people are capable of doing and believing in such things. Though It does get serious at times, and those moments, gosh, are magnificent.
The gameplay itself is split into two parts:
one being a text-driven story of the playable character in which you get to make some choices concerning their family and themselves (A,B,C,D question style);
the other being the chaotic gameplay of overseeing a live show. The editing, the censoring, the managing the interference since it keeps f-ing up the broadcast AAHHHHHHHHHHHH .
In both of these parts you make significant decisions impacting you and the political climate respectively.
I found the text-driven part rather mediocre. It didn't grab me. Not that it needed to, really. It felt like padding to an already good game. Fortunately said game has enough to offer through its other side - the shows.
These shows constantly add new mechanics that keep the gameplay fresh and the writing changes, depending on the choices made. These are genuinely a joy to go through. Although they can be challenging for some. My sister found these quite chaotic and difficult to keep up with (kinda the charm of the game). Though, she wants to play it some more.
Not for Broadcast's first playthrough was one of my favourite blind-ish playthroughs ever. However the biggest flaw of this game makes the story hard to re-experience. In order to make other choices and experience different endings, you need to replay parts that do not change that much. This is a reason as to why I have not 100% the base game and only finished about 2/5ths of the endings. Finishing all of them would be like reading the same book 10 times. It can be fun, but you get bored of even the best media out there.

The creators of Not For Broadcast tried to sway so far away from "woke" that it became what it despises: out of touch brain mush.
