Not that this game needs an introduction from the already overwhelmingly positive reviews it has.
From the prospective of someone who has never really played or given a chance on Rouge-lites. Was never interested and generally would be bored of this genre of game. However, Hades is very different!
Firstly, I played this on my Steam deck, it runs beautifully, and is a very bug free game, good start. I got this due to its highly recommendation on both steam and other sites as one of the best in it's genre, and steam deck game. My new job was requiring me to look at alternative ways to play games and entertain myself, And I am glad I did.
Having played a few other Rouge Lites, or possibly Rouge games? I found they can be very daunting in the difficulty, its a genre that usually requires you to get better instead of the game getting easier, Like a RPG.
I will admit, I went for God mode. I have since played without, and I do enjoy it, however without it, I feel I would have abandoned the game sooner. It allowed me to appreciate the game, the story and the mechanics.
It's a great game for a few reasons,
The Story;
It's a well known piece of history, or mythology, I was conveniently reading Stephen Frys "Mythos" at the same time, learning the factual version along side, however its a very "Relatable" story, it's something we learn as kids, and yet you still wonder, "What will happen next?".
This is enhanced by two factors, one being the superb Voice Acting. The deep voices, the light hearted sarcasm in tone, it works perfectly.
And the Art work, being in a Cartoon-ish style keeps it engaging without the need for high end graphics or looking as basic as a point and click adventure.
Gameplay;
From other reviews, this is labelled as something better than it's rivals, I couldn't really say about that, however, I can say it was fluid and easy enough to pick up, without being overwhelming, I also found it to have enough of a task, that each wave, round and Run I did, I felt I could improve, but would also "kick myself" for making simple mistakes. There is a nice aspect of Randomness included in this, with each god having it's own "Boons" and obviously, playstyles. Weapons I wouldn't usually take, ways I wouldn't usually play are encouraged and albeit, very amusing, with a nice and simple mechanic of reward.
Sound design;
The in-game music, the sound of pots being smashed, and the VA. It all goes together so nicely, nothing is over done, the game has a very ancient feel in it's atmosphere and there is plenty of humour included that it blends synonymously.
Overall, This game really surprised me, so much that after a mere 5 hours, I was hooked, so much so I annoyed some of my family members and friends by mentioning this game. It goes without saying I wishlisted "Hades 2" almost immediately. I would honestly, highly recommend this game to anyone who hasn't really given rouge lites a go or is put off by the difficulty of them, even if you're an Achievement hunter, so far it seems more of a time consuming aspect than it does a Difficulty aspect.

Great game, combat system is fun and the storyline makes use of the child like personalities of the gods of Greek mythology in such a way that the story is believable (like it actually could have been a part of Greek mythology) and the characters are interesting. I even enjoy the corny npc interactions and cut-scenes. Game runs smoothly on my mid tech machine.
Only problem is the weapons are a bit one dimensional.
Unfortunately, I just can't beat it, even on God-mode. But that's a personal problem :)

I consider myself a bit of a roguelike hater, but this is exactly what one should look like - I'd say "take note, other devs", but of course they have already, as Hades is an iconic game at this point. Remarkably smooth movement and combat, with runs getting progressively longer as you power up. Just an all-round satisfying gaming experience.

Gameplay catchy with a good story, really loved doing the prophecies of the game along with 2 of the 3 Skelly's prizes. Only drawback is the rng that's needed for some dialogs for some of the achievements, but since it's a roguelike; it's part of the game so I can't really complain. But overall awesome game, deserved its goty awards, I definitely recommend\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

First off, I truly enjoyed the roguelike experience despite never before being interested in the genre. Average full 'escape' takes ~25 minutes and yet you find yourself with a new kit each time. Recently I have taken a liking to attempting a run-through with a somewhat useless kit for the sake of it. The more you replay the more proficient you get and, seriously, haven't been a time I stopped because of being bored of gameplay.
Secondly, as a (mediocre) fan to Greek myths since childhood, the interpretations of the Gods here seem very interesting, as well as the concept of the Underworld portrayed.

Overall, regarding the different features of Hades:
1. Gameplay-wise - well done, whether one prefers a casual run in a week or several escape attempts in a single evening.
- The God Mode adds to the features that might really help for someone who isn't interested in high difficulty
- Weapons are somewhat repetitive, even with weapon aspects, yet every player can choose their style (whether to charge in or to attack from a safer distance and avoid traps/attacks + add different Boons to it)
- Regarding Boons - sure, there are generally more useful ones as well as some Gods are generally more preferrable than the others, but I wouldn't say you can only beat the game with these Boons and no others.
- Personally I enjoy visiting Chaos and Charon here and now, but Erebus mostly isn't worth the time if you're playing with tight measures in the pact. but perhaps it is just my comfort speaking.
2. Story-wise - I believe I like every part of it, except for certain moments of being locked out of advancing the reputation.
- Main Story is simple, but its mundanity (in a weird sense of the word) doesn't make it too complicated to comprehend, so I'd say it doesn't force you to memorize all the Greek myths just to understand what's even going on
- And yet, the behavior and dialogue lines thrown here and there bring me joy when I recognize what exactly it is referencing, and make the world itself deeper than simply a game about 'escape from the Underworld'
- Reputation system is intriguing, as side quest stories feel genuinely close to what I would expect from the characters, not nonsensical, not too fast-paced
3. Art-wise - stunning, honestly.
- the soundtrack is exactly what you want to hear while slashing dozens of mobs, and Orpheus' songs are genuinely captivating + to add about the audio, the voice acting may sometimes feel a little raw, but the emotions are portrayed greatly, as well as distinctiveness of said voices themselves
- level-design and general BG art is also great, it (and character models) feels fully drawn and with a recognizable style in it. What I do not like here is that some levels are of a weird shape and it is not always convenient to navigate through them without rushing around to compare the exits' next rewards, or stepping straight into the fire
- character art is unique, taken into consideration all the characters here are Greek Gods, they are a distinct variety and you wouldn't mix up one with another

First, the soundtrack for this game is 10/10. i cant count how many times I have found myself listening to this score while NOT playing the game, its that good.
The Gameplay is super addicting and although it may feel repetitive at times, they offer you such a variety of weapons that if you find yourself getting frustrated or stuck as a certain difficulty, you can always change your approach on the next attempt.

Peak game, it's what's gotten me into roguelikes, and is 1/4 PC games i bring with me everywhere I go. \n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t(ENG/RU) One of the best roguelike games I’ve ever played. The gameplay feels really satisfying, the way the story is told is quite unique, and the soundtrack is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing (especially the 2nd and 3rd stages of Hades— I literally came just from hearing that music).
The characters are great, and there are 6 different weapons with different aspects, which adds a lot of variety to the gameplay. The same goes for the gods’ boons. each run never feels the same, unless you specifically decide to play with a certain build.
Overall, it’s a pretty unique game for its genre, and I really enjoyed it. Definitely recommend it! 10/10

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tDespite its age, Hades is still a top contender for one of the best roguelikes especially for its niche and how well-made it is despite comparison to newer games. Hades somehow blends combat, storyline (as expected of any game) but also romance perfectly and believe me when i say that you'll be disappointed you couldnt find any other game that could achieve the same result without it getting corny or feeling like it's a drop in quality.
my own review after 30+ runs is that the combat doesnt get too repetitive even if you run the same weapon for all of your runs like i do with the shield.. there's a whole bunch of options to choose from (duos boons, cast/special builds) and the next run will never feel like the last, despite similar choices. There are also rewarding upgrades the more runs you do, though it gets repetitive if you play only for the roguelike, which is where the story and thanatos walks in.
I wont go too much into detail but im a sucker for cute relationships and i also enjoy the option of having meg as a romance option so i can decline. It is very very motivating knowing there's this death incarnate dude trying to impress you on random runs, and YES we're all equipping his keepsake. The storyline may be a tiny bit lackluster for some as it's locked behind dozens of runs and is fairly simple, the attractiveness of it is determined by how interested you are towards the characters and whether the combat makes up for it or not (which imo it does, the combat is enjoyable and so are the bonds you get to build with than or meg.)
tdlr; normal to good replayability, good character building and story, memorable sound design and decent voice acting, an insanely good introduction to roguelike as someone who's never played these games, thanatos.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t
