\n\t\t\t\t\tWhere do I start... I got this game yesterday and somehow already dumped 10 hours into it, so I guess that says something.

Pax Autocratica is like somebody threw an FPS, colony sim, overlord sim, and a roguelite into a blender and somehow it actually works. It sounds like way too much when you say it out loud, but none of the systems feel overly complicated or turn into some kind of logistical nightmare where I need a spreadsheet just to feed Steve.

The basic loop is pretty damn fun. You go out, shoot ♥♥♥♥, collect resources, capture soldiers, come back to your base, research new stuff, upgrade everything, and then... torture the soldiers. You know, normal colony management activities.

The building system is surprisingly simple and works really well. You aren't spending half your life trying to figure out why the damn wall won't connect. Everything feels pretty intuitive, which I appreciate.

I've also had zero crashes so far.

I'm only 10 hours in, so obviously I haven't seen everything the game has to offer, but so far I'm having an absolute blast. There's a really satisfying loop of going out, getting stronger, coming back, upgrading the base, and then going back out to cause even more problems.

Highly recommend it if you like FPS games with some strategy/base-building mixed in. It's weird, violent, addictive, and somehow all the different pieces fit together way better than they probably should.

Much like Palworld (Sorry Multiverse, you ARE going to draw these comparisons) it is a base building creature collector shootathon.

However unlike Palworld which draws much of its inspiration from ARK, Conan, and other Survival-likes, the base building structure of Pax Autocratica seems to be closer to... Traditional RTS buildings, almost? The tech tree buildings, anyway.

The core of its gameplay loop will involve scouring a universal map for resource nodes, to which you engage in DOOM/Quake-like skirmishes against NPC's, and with a ramping difficulty counter that increases the longer you spend travelling in the universal map. A campaign meter is set above the difficulty meter that typically caps at 5 mission completions, that leads to a 'boss battle' that is more accurately described as 'EDF-Lite' in that its usually an absurd military operation involving (as of the first sector) taking down a massive walker installation.

The 'Creature Collector' mechanic is that you can capture any NPC you can shoot. Cannon fodder, bosses, etc. I haven't tried capturing a Mech yet, but I know I can't capture a Walker.

Much of the base mechanics are simply buildings that enable research trees so far, but now that I have the retail game I can already see things such as breeding barracks, indoctrination daycare, etc.

Can't wait for the sex patch on the roadmap, and wonder if its ironic AKA the leader can breed with subjects and have offspring or a literal age rating changing mechanic.

So far, like Palworld, it's not so much innovating as it is trying to blend a LOT of mechanics that are familiar across multiple genres into a unique experience, and I will say it has met its own expectations.

Performance-wise it runs smooth with few hiccups, but I HAVE noticed my power surge/battery bank starts screaming about power pull when I play this, so I'm certain there's plenty of optimization issues for lower spec computers at the moment and I hope the dev works on them for a wider enjoyment.\t\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\tI bought Pax Autocratica a day after its release and it's the only game I've been playing since for hours on end. With 29 hours collected and defeated the last boss in the Early Access version in the name of The Father, it's time to decide whether this single player survival / rogue-like / bullet hell / base management is in my opinion a thumbs up or a thumbs down and why. Here's the TL;DR:

The Positives
- It's compatible with full controller support.
- You can choose to be either a benevolent Leader or a ruthless tyranical Leader offering two impacting playstyles for your base. You can care for your workers by asking how they are, providing food and shelter, giving gifts and rostering them reasonable work hours which increases morale, which results in higher Loyalty that leads with better overall production. Or you can be tyrannical instilling fear and obedience by making an example of others. You can choose to imprison and execute troublesome and non-effecient workers, whipping lazy workers back to work, sacrificing weak workers to enhance the stats of another, and grinding them down for resources. This increases their fear level to prevent strikes and protests but also increases the chance they have a mental breakdown.
- AFK farming resources and doing research is awesome. All it takes is one button tap - not hold down - tap before doing research or gather resources and the game automatically does it and any other research you have queued. You don't need to keep the game open if you alt-tab to look at Youtube or play another game because it still plays in the background.
- It's well optimized. It's a rare occation where FPS drops.
- An in-depth worker management system where you can assign a worker where they're most good by looking at their stats, and at will enable/disable where they can be auto-assigned to. They can increase their stats by finding teachers in other workers.
- Once researched at the Vehicle Depot you can bring along a speed bike, a tank or a walking mech on your excursions. Unfortunately at the moment you can only bring one.


The Negatives
- After the first few hours of combat, it gets kind of stale. It's a rinse repeat of killing enemies who drop grenades upon death like the martyr perk from Call of Duty, evade the warning red spheres where grenades and missiles are about to hit, collect rewards, extract and repeat. The only things that changes is the mission type and the core fragments that give different traits for your abilities and weapons.
- People with OCD will be agitated at base building later on in a fun way. Putting down anything whether it's foundations, buidlings or decorations comes with a tiled base with a square and a square on each corner. Align them up perfectly next to each and it feels good, but leave a gap anywhere or mis-align the squares and it'll make you rip your hair out.
- Although it's not disclosed and I could be wrong, but there might be some AI generated content for images, namely for the portraits of NPCs.
- It's been addressed by the devs but character models don't always represent the gender of the character. Female humans will share the same model as human males in bulking armour. Imagine a Warhammer 40K's Space Marine with a normal female voice.
- If a worker is assigned to collecting dropped resources to bring back to a drop site, half the time they'll be stuck at the drop site when there's resources to be collected or dump them in bulk around the base.

The Verdict
As it stands I think Pax Autocratica is worth buying in its Early Access stage to support the devs. It's rough around the edges with bugs and poor AI pathfinding. But knowing the devs are actively listening to player feedback assures me it'll be bigger and better between here and full release.\t\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\tThis game turned me into space Hitler with a hard-on for efficiency and I am not okay. I started this game today and im already deciding if little timmy gets an extra ration of nutrient paste or gets blended into the loyalty smoothie for the morning announcements. This game is as if RimWorld, Helldivers 2 and a really ♥♥♥♥♥♥-up episode of The Office had a three-way in a propaganda bunker where the baby came out holding a clipboard, a plasma rifle, and a list of people who didn’t clap loud enough at the last parade. But this time im not yelling FOR DEMOCRACY im just screaming FOR THE FATHER instead.

So far in the 12hrs ive played, ive managed to sacrifice an entire work shift of dissenters just so my favourite soldier could get a 3% accuracy buff (didn’t even feel bad) I then executed the ringleaders in the city square by making them recite the state anthem (grinder was too easy way out) an after went to solo a boss with the survivors cheering me on like I just scored the winning touchdown. At one point my colony ran out of food so I declared that hunger was now illegal. Problem solved. Everyone was suddenly “full of revolutionary spirit.” One guy tried to eat a rock (I promoted him)

The game looks you dead in the eye, winks, and goes “yeah, this is satire… now go execute that guy for having a slightly sad face during the mandatory joy rally, daddy.” 10/10 would recommend this game its pretty entertaining purging the weak, feeding the strong and forcing the survivors to high-five a statue of me again. All hail the State.

\n\t\t\t\t\tAn absolutely amazing game, that of the time of writing this is still very much early access. The devs themselves have addressed and acknowledged the most important feedback given regarding the game, showing they are very much aware of the rough spots that exist and have been snappy on updates thus far. Despite the rough spots, this game manages to captivate me in a very addictive loop that i cannot get enough of.

The gameplay is centered around 2 things primarily.
1. Build your base and manage your soldiers.
2. Go on expeditions and battle for loot.

The way this works is very simple, yet addictive. Your soldiers are both the life on the battlefield as well as what makes your base function with gathering of basic resources. More complex resources you need to get during expeditions.

As of writing this, your base is a safe haven and isolated instance where you can take your time to do whatever you like and build things up. Your soldiers need shelter, food and a decent wage to keep them happy. The basebuilding has some stunning sci-fi visuals that i have nothing but praise for. From your base, you build up buildings and manage your upgrades not entirely unlike an RTS. Pax Autocratica is a strange amalgamation of a ton of different games, which i will get into in a moment.

Then, it is time to venture out on an expedition. Choose which soldiers and soldier classes come along for the ride. The expedition system enters you on a sci-fi space map that would remind you of Mount and Blade. You click on where to go in a randomized overmap that is unique every time you go on an expedition, and explore nodes. Some nodes you get resources with no fuzz. Other nodes, demand a fight.

This is where the fun begins, and the game begins to really shine.

The combat is very, very, very good. If you have ever played games with high levels of mobility as a form of player power, such as Warframe, this game gives you that same feel. Movement is key to stay alive in battle, which brings me to the next point; Difficulty. This game lets you adjust difficulty to a high degree, letting you tailor your own experience perfectly. The battlefield itself is varied, with the devs promising more diversity in maps and mission objectives to come, but already at this point, there are already quite a lot of different missions and maps.

The combat is a form a roguelike that keeps things fresh and interesting, making every expedition a unique experience. One run can be a disaster spiral, and the other you become a god of war unleashed by the state upon the enemies of the state.

There are a ton more things i can say and comparisons to make.
-Mount and Blade overmap exploration into battle
-Palworld-type capture system for prisoners + system of committing warcrimes to sacrifice soldiers and captives to upgrade the soldiers you want to keep
-A strange mix of RTS base building mechanics mixed with Rimworld that i don't even know how to try and explain in a concise and coherent manner.
-A Helldivers-like atmosphere and meta-commentary that is satirical, endearing and greatly amusing.

If this is not enough to convince you, then i would like you to look at my current playtime as of writing this, which should be 39.3 or so hours.

Now consider that the game released into early access 4 days ago. So that is nearly 40 hours in 4 days. I have been unable to put this addictive game away and i regret nothing.

I came for totalitarianism and left with unnecessary knowledge of the developers' not so barely disguised fetishes. Aside from the long, drawn out moaning and choking sounds during electrocution, this game is endearing in its pure unadulterated shamelessness, taking assets, animations, and concepts from Halo, Overwatch, Palworld, Metal Gear, Rimworld, Helldivers, to name a few. An unholy amalgamation of all these and more, it certainly is a game. Given its dubious backstory and history, one can only hope its saving grace is its attempt at irony.

Yes, it's a capable hybrid game with a really satisfying gameplay loop. BUT:

The base building/management section is a lot simpler than advertised. It also misses the tone for me when it comes to "autocratic leadership". You are not in fact the supreme leader, just a "governor" of sorts. The dictatorial theme seems kinda hamfisted and does not allow for actual moral dilemmas. Morale, loyalty and even fear are generated easily and I'm not even sure if low moral does anything disruptive.

There are of course bugs in this game, such as worker not always working when you are away on missions. Automation is not really functioning right now since you often have to deliver good manually. Interactions with soldiers is minimal and there is a HUGE disconnect between the AI generated soldier portraits (which look alright) and the 3D model you see stomping around your base. Some balancing issues as well.

The combat sections are fun. At first ever mission is super hard when you enter a new sector and you are stuck grinding for materials for a while. Then you are super overpowered quickly and kinda just clear the entire sector with all 3 battles easily. If you want to auto-win, just get the rocket upgrade and then the red upgrade that lets you shoot one rocket per bullet hit. Equip a rapid fire weapon and voila, you are now the god of war capable of clearing the sector no matter the difficulty.
Other upgrades seem rather worthless, some are fun like the ability that lets you spawn zerglings when you kill an enemy.

Oh yeah, the enemies are: Borderlands mercenaries, the Zerg, the Protoss, robots that remind me too much of the T'au, and some enemies you've seen in the UFO defense games like the Muton. Not very creative, but it works.

I had 6 greenhouses and 2 animal farms going, the dudes just stopped harvesting, which meant no more food, which meant everyone starved. There was no reason they should have stopped; I wasn't out on an expedition with anyone, they were all still assigned to their respective posts, they all just stopped working

This happens pretty frequently; the game *says* everyone keeps working while you're out and about, but they dont. Locking a person to a singular job doesn't work, they'll just get randomly assigned a different task anyway. You'll come back and 5 minute long construction projects will remain unfinished, your deep drilling platform willl have produced nothing, nobody picks up resources or drops them off in the warehouse even when thats literally their only job on base. You have a building dedicated to making NPCs go around collecting raw materials from various workplaces/ the world around the base, but they dont. do. anything. you'll come back from an expedition to find queues jammed, resources scattered on the ground, esp greenhouses the dude will just be standing there perpetually "working" but never actually doing *anything* its a mess

YOU have to babysit these people. YOU, personally, have to take every product from every building, the NPC's just dont do it. Even Cult of the Lamb has better NPC AI, at least they'll keep doing their jobs when you're not watching their every move

\n\t\t\t\t\tPax Autocraticia currently feels more like a collection of unfinished systems than a finished game.

There are a lot of ideas here, and I can see the potential, but unfortunately many of the systems feel underdeveloped and, more importantly, they don't seem to be connected well enough to each other yet. The game has a lot of individual mechanics, but they often don't reinforce one another. As a result, instead of creating interesting gameplay loops, many of them simply create additional chores and grinding.

The base-building and customization are a major example. The system is extremely limited, despite looking like it wants to offer a lot of freedom. You can place decorations, but often not where they would actually make sense. For example, you may have plenty of space next to a building, yet the grid simply refuses to let you place something there and forces you to put it somewhere awkward instead. Basic things like railings are missing as well. It makes the base feel less like something you are building yourself and more like something you are arranging within very strict restrictions.

The prisoner and NPC systems have a similar problem. In practice, the prisoner system often boils down to clicking one of two options, moving to the next prisoner, and repeating the process. Eventually, capturing people becomes less about finding interesting characters and more about grinding through a large number of them until you get the passive abilities or stats you need.

This is especially unfortunate because there is a lot of potential for making the NPCs feel like actual members of your faction rather than disposable resources.

For example, I would love to see a system where you can create and assign equipment for NPCs, with their actual combat roles being determined much more by their equipment. Instead of simply catching a pre-defined character, you could decide that one NPC becomes a heavy soldier, another a medic, another a ranged specialist, etc.

The quality-up system could also become much more meaningful if, for example, upgrading a character allowed you to choose from a selection of skills or passives. Another possibility would be allowing NPCs to actually level up and train toward a specific role. That would create a reason to become attached to your troops and invest in them.

Right now, the feeling is often closer to:

"I need a better passive, so I'll replace this guy."

Instead, I want the game to make me think:

"This is one of my soldiers. I've invested in them, trained them and equipped them, so I don't want to lose them."

That would make the prisoner, character development, equipment and combat systems reinforce each other instead of feeling like separate mechanics.

The resource and economy systems also feel strangely designed. You are constantly pushed toward expeditions to obtain the things you need, but there is very little opportunity to build an actual economy around your base. You cannot properly sell things outside of missions, while your people still require salaries. This makes the economy feel less like a system you can manage and more like another reason to keep going on expeditions.

I think the base progression and research system could also be pushed much further in this direction.

Instead of simply limiting progression through levels and requiring higher-level expedition resources, research could gradually increase the economic and production complexity of the base.

For example, producing certain advanced buildings or materials could require an actual production chain:

Build farms.
Grow specific crops.
Use those crops to raise certain animals.
Produce fats, fibers or other resources from them.
Process those resources into materials needed for advanced metalworking.
Eventually use those materials to construct more advanced buildings and equipment.

This would give the base an actual economy and make the different buildings feel interconnected.

At the same time, players who don't enjoy that kind of base management shouldn't necessarily be forced into it. Trading ships visiting your base could allow players to buy resources they don't want to produce themselves while selling their own surplus.

That would create an economy where the player can decide how they want to play.

If someone enjoys building a complex industrial base, they can do that.

If someone doesn't care about base production and would rather go on expeditions, they can focus on expeditions and use their earnings to buy what they need.

And if someone wants to spend a long time developing their settlement before starting a war, they should be able to do that as well.

This would also make the game feel much more like building your own faction instead of simply following a progression path that constantly pushes you toward the next expedition.

The vehicle system is another area where I think the existing mechanics could be connected better. At the moment, vehicles feel weaker than the player character and therefore don't provide much reason to use them.

One way to solve this would be to make vehicles function more like another customizable combat platform. Let players equip vehicles with weapons and upgrades in a similar way to their own character. Research could unlock improved vehicle components, which the player then has to manufacture.

Vehicles could also have their own 2–3 abilities and meaningful left- and right-click weapons. Improved versions of these components could then be added to the expedition loot pool.

That would immediately give vehicles a much stronger gameplay purpose: they become another part of your faction's progression rather than simply weaker alternatives to the player character.

There is also a noticeable lack of content and variety. Most areas seem to recycle a relatively small number of enemy types, with only around 5–8 regular types being added per area, excluding special characters. After a while, encounters start to feel very repetitive.

Overall, I don't think the problem is that Pax Autocraticia has too few systems. If anything, it has a lot of systems. The bigger problem is that many of them currently feel like isolated mechanics that haven't been fully connected yet.

The game has the foundations for something much more interesting: a faction-building game where you develop your base, build an economy, train and equip your troops, research technology, customize vehicles, trade with other factions and eventually decide when you are ready to go to war.

Right now, however, too many of those systems lead back to the same thing: grinding expeditions, replacing NPCs and repeatedly performing simple interactions to progress.

I don't think the game is hopeless at all. Quite the opposite—the amount of systems already present makes the potential pretty obvious. But they need to be given more depth and, most importantly, better connections to one another.

At the moment, the game feels like it is trying to make me grind through its systems.

The blend of base-building, first-person shooter mechanics, and *Pokémon*-style elements isn't unique, but it is unrivaled within the sci-fi genre. The story is short but humorous, providing a solid foundation for destroying everything and everyone in your path.

However, the game's greatest strengths are accompanied by significant weaknesses. I didn't encounter any bugs or performance issues; my criticisms focus on the core concept and, above all, the time management mechanics.

You can recruit new soldiers via a system (two planets per sector), through capture, or through natural or forced reproduction. While this is cool and fun at first, it becomes incredibly tedious over time. Your NPCs—whether biological or mechanical—have an average life expectancy of 100 years. In the game, one day equals one quarter of a year, and a child takes 20 days to reach maturity. These timeframes mean your hard-earned army quickly turns into a bunch of old geezers. Definitely turn off aging in the settings—it’s an option! You’ll save yourself a lot of frustration and avoid wasting precious playtime.

The missions in the three currently available sectors are beautifully designed. Naturally, there is repetition; after just 30 hours, I was already tired of looking at certain landscapes. Furthermore, you never return to a sector once it’s been completed. Realistically, the endgame boils down to playing in just one sector with endlessly repeating missions and environments. Since there is no incentive to revisit old sectors—especially given the inferior items found there—things get boring quickly.

The combat mechanics give me a headache. The AI ​​is programmed entirely for rushing, with zero tactical finesse. It’s just a bunch of brawlers spamming every ability they have. This applies to both the enemies and your own NPCs. Depending on the class, they either proceed cautiously or charge straight into the deadliest clusters of enemies. The latter forced me to deem many classes completely useless—at least when playing on Standard difficulty or higher.

I’ve had the best results using a mix of three classes: Medic, Assault, and Sniper. You move your squad within medium-to-long range, keeping the members close together—which is crucial so that every NPC can be reached by a Medic’s healing grenade. The other classes are interesting but, in my opinion, always entail higher risk. The reason is simple: you have zero control over your squad's actions. They follow you and offer a few words of praise, but you can't issue them any actual commands. It’s a team of lone wolves. And that, to me, is the biggest weakness. It feels unfair. So many possibilities, so much love and effort poured into these classes, yet the tactical foundation is completely missing. I hope that changes eventually.

The developers really ought to be cloned. They are incredibly active and highly cooperative with the community—a dream for any player. That alone makes the game worth a positive review.

Overall, the game comes highly recommended. Fifty hours of fun are guaranteed. Just remember to turn off aging in the settings; I realized too late and now I’m already having to look into dentures. Maybe the next update will add a retirement home. Damn demographic shift!\t\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\tI’ve been really enjoying Pax so far. It brings together a bunch of things I love in games: building up a base, creating and improving an army, roguelite progression, and then actually jumping into the action yourself with FPS combat.

The different game modes help keep things fresh, and there’s a really satisfying sense of progression as you unlock more options and figure out better ways to build out your forces.

It’s scratched an itch I’ve had for a long time for a game where building and progression actually connect to the action rather than feeling like separate systems.

If you enjoy base building, putting together an army, roguelite progression, and FPS gameplay all mixed together, I’d definitely recommend giving Pax a try. There’s a lot here already, and I’m looking forward to seeing where it goes.

\n\t\t\t\t\tPreface - I played over 20 Hours of the Demo, and probably close to 50-100 Hours of the Closed Playtest pre-early access launch.

This game is fun, the devs listen to player feedback and actively are looking to make the game better. Hell, I've complained about a few things during the playtest and demo phases and those things got changed pretty quickly. For example, soldiers used to eat like swarms of hangry locusts, you'd have to go on expeditions specifically to get food and only food just to make sure your soldiers didnt starve and they tuned that fairly quickly to where food management is... well.. manageable and not a chore.

The gameplay itself is really fun. It's mostly a Rogue-like Shooter Bullet Hell game with a little RTS element mixed in. What's great is you can actually focus on making your soldiers more of your backbone to your killing potential rather than it being purely you. Bring the right soldiers along to compliment each other and they'll deal with enemies just as well as you can. (Especially when you bring elite soldiers and their fun little abilities)

Honestly the game is just great. I recommend giving it a whirl, engage with Steam's 2 hour refund policy if you need to, but I don't think you'll be disappointed if you enjoy a good roguelike shooter with bullet hell elements and base management. Its kinda like Cult of the Lamb... but a shooter, and if ya like that game, I feel like you'll enjoy this one as well!

The devs have promised Co-op in the future, probably closer to full release, so look forward to playing with your friends if thats the only thing holding you back!

Also, don't listen to the losers that have less than 0.5 hours on this game. It's clear they played just enough to slap on a negative review for whatever salty reason. Many of them have a history of basically copying and pasting the same negative reviews on other games to the point where I think a good deal of the negative reviews are bots/ai themselves. :P\t\t\t\t\t

If you're going into this game for the FPS Roguelike portion, you're probably going to love it.
If you're going into this game for the base-building / strategy portion, it seems like it has a lot of depth.
If you're (like me) going into this game for the personel-management side of things, it needs to focus more on the characterization / customization of the soldiers you're bringing back to your base.
The roadmap looks promising in that regard, but I'll wait to see how they integrate it / if they integrate it before I come back and try again.

Mix Helldivers, Palworld, a solid fps rougelite, and management sim, and you get this game. I can see myself putting in some hours on this one. But also just hopping on once in a while later down the line to mess around, or scratch one of the many itches this game does.

I will say (after seeing a review from @thesingleplayersquad on you tube) that if you were to take any single element of this game that's sandwiched in here, you could find a game that could potentially do it better. The thing is, there really isn't a game that can do it all at once, which in of itself is impressive, and addicting. It staves off boredom since you're never doing only one thing.

The skill ceiling for most aspects of the game (while still being pretty accessible) is very well balanced as well. Sure you could put any worker anywhere and starve your population, and you can still craft all you'd need to eventually. And if you're good enough at fps you could play without and soldier assistance at all. But if you want to there are page long character sheets for each individual person at your base, with a ton of info that you can use to make the base way more productive and have a significantly better fighting squad.

Graphics are fine, not AAA, but not terrible either. With my specs I ran everything maxed out graphicly and still ran 165fps@4k. Feels well optimized. No glitches or bugs that I've found. Some of the objects in the worlds you're fighting in can be odd at times, like getting boxed into areas and you can't move and don't know why...but only happened a couple times before I just made sure to try and position myself better in combat. Sound quality was good, nothing out of this world, but not garbage either.

At the end of the day this game is fun. And I find myself thinking about it when I'm not playing, and I haven't had a game do that for me in a while. In a sea of disappointment with games lately, this game is very refreshing and just plain fun (the way games used to feel). Great job devs, can't wait to see what else you cook up with this awesome gem!\t\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\tAt this current stage, Im going to go with thumbs down. I slightly regret getting it. It feels like every feature is half assed, and I know its early access, but there's room for more everywhere and it simply didn't happen. Bosses are just the same enemies as normal but scaled up, the ai is really atrocious, the prison to recruitment system is just spam two buttons every day until they join you, the constant voice lines and writing make me wish I didn't have ears, the maps are the same few maps over and over, the first major boss thing that isn't a scaled up enemy is a 'base walker' where you shoot its legs, but it doesn't walk, it just sits there. The whole game feels like the devs just stopped at 'good enough.'

After two and a half hours, I felt like I've already ran out of maps, and with no randomization on the maps its the same enemies spawning in the same spots at the same time. The whole thing is repetitive, clunky, and feels unpolished and unfinished. But hey, its early access, it *should* be unfinished. I just don't think its 25 bucks of unfinished yet. The whole thing feels like several half baked gimmicks strapped together with duct tape.\t\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\tI wanted a colony sim/automation game with a hint of roguelite FPS. Pax Autocratica is a Roguelite FPS with a hint of colony sim, and both systems are shallow. The roguelite is full of uninteresting, underpowered upgrades that are usually worse than clicking on heads. The upgrades don't even make clicking on heads interesting. Building your squad of goons seems like it would have interesting decisions and strategies, but you just choose the goons with the highest DPS number. No interesting synergies with each other or the player, just bigger number = better. And once you have more than a couple goons in your party, visual clarity is gone.

The colony sim is just keeping your soldiers fed and happy. There are zero overarching mechanics from the colony sim to shape your decision making. It has very little effect on the roguelite FPS. You can use tons of resources to upgrade one soldier's damage by 20%, take 13 soldiers on an expedition instead of 10, or get a 25% damage buff for your soldiers that lasts 15 seconds on a 60 second cooldown. The colony sim feels inconsequential because it has so little bearing on the roguelite FPS. And the UI for managing the colony is so awful that it creates more friction than the intentional gameplay frictions.

Because of these issues, the game is a slog. The gameplay loop is do a roguelite FPS run that takes like 15-45 minutes, go back to base, do a bunch of boring chores, build 2 upgrades on your base, and repeat. It's not fun. And I'm disappointed that it fails to deliver on the premise of colony sim/automation game that is intertwined with a roguelite FPS, because that game sounds so fun. I do think the bones of that game are here, but there is a LOT of work that would need to be done to realize it. So, if you're here for that premise like I was, don't bother.\t\t\t\t\t

What a great blend of different game ideas—an amazing combination of Satisfactory, Helldivers, and somehow Palworld. The upcoming co-op mode will skyrocket Pax Autonomica. Hats off! \n\t\t\t\t\tThere is a lot going on, but it doesn't really come together. The base building has no threat or raids. The game shows massive battles but you can't really wage war. It's like very basic ai and you can only have a few to start with. Even when you get late game you can only have like 30ish soldiers which pretty much just follow. There are no tactics nor strategy effectively just run and gun. You can't skip the tutorial, but you can change the difficulty anytime. The gameplay is samey. I was expecting a little more rimworld esque base minions but they're not interesting at all. The weapons are all the same aswell. Generally feels very early access. I backed Earth From Another Sun and refunded it. I would wait on this one. There are entire chunks of the game that are unappealing like not being able to have your mininons use vehicles. or have any variation of combat like defense or scouting. I've had to mod alot of my own fun stuff to do. I can only recommend if you're out of like games and or want to support the dev. I think 5 dollars is reasonable for this at the moment, but you may get 50 hours out of it if its your cup of tea.\t\t\t\t\t
