Now, more than a decade later, I still find myself coming back to it. The developers have consistently added meaningful content over the years at no extra cost, which is rare. On top of that, the modding community has done an incredible job expanding and overhauling the game even further. With over 700 hours played and likely more to come, the value I’ve gotten out of this game is honestly hard to match.

I cannot even begin to put into words how amazing and fun this game is. Terraria is a one-of-a-kind game- There's so much to do, and you can pour hundreds of hours of playtime into this game without even realizing it. I have 425 or so hours on Terraria, split between four playthroughs and I'm still not done playing. I still have so many things I want to do on this game, which is why you should play it. I'll give you a few reasons too!
To start, Terraria has so much in-game content it's honestly difficult to NOT find something to do on this game. This game is far from "2D Minecraft" as it's often described. On the surface it might seem so, but when you start playing it becomes harder and harder to view it as just a 2D survival. There are so many things to collect, it's actually hilarious. Imagine anything you want; you will find it in this game. There are guns, bows, whips, launchers, and that's just scratching the surface. You can literally command a little army of minions to fight for you. Even then--- the minions you can find in this game are absurd! You can have mini UFOs to fight for you. While on the topic of weapons, let me talk about CLASSES.
Now yes, this game has specific classes you can play as. As if it couldn't get any better! There are four main damage types in the game, melee, ranged, magic, and summon. There's epic swords, guns made from sharks, crazy magic wands and even magic GUNS. These all come with corresponding armor sets and accessories in order to be able to fight at your strongest. Not to mention that they're also pretty well balanced-- in my opinion. From the start of the game until the finish, you will ALWAYS, and I mean ALWAYS find some new bazonkers weapon that will (sometimes) be able to crush ANYTHING in your path. It's wild!
But let me mention the difficulty of the game. This game is NOT EASY!! (Sometimes). At some points it very much will be, but you will DEFINITELY face threats in this game that are sometimes hard enough that it will make you reconsider if you'll be able to even reach the final boss, ESPECIALLY when it comes to Master Mode. Every boss will offer something different, and you'll have to adapt to anything and everything new you face. I swear I've developed observation haki from playing through Master Mode THREE TIMES. Sometimes the bosses will be more relaxed; not much will happen during the fight, or it will be an absolute bullet hell that will shred you to bits. There is a VERY BIG learning curve in this game, too. You WILL struggle, but that's something that I think makes the game fun, because you're driven to explore and find other weapons to workaround the weaknesses of others.
And even when you think you've gone through everything you possibly could in the vanilla game, this game has MOD SUPPORT. The amount of mods you can find in this game is likely endless, though I haven't played through any yet myself. But there are some awesome looking mods that I've seen that will make me sink even more hours into this game.
If you buy this game, you will have zero regrets. It's literally a sandbox, too, so you can just do whatever if you want to, too. If you don't want to progress, you don't have to.
