\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tAs someone who plays cozy games like Stardew, sims, and likes cartoon animals in most of my games, this game is extraordinary. It is unique in ways few games are, with engaging yet calming gameplay unheard of for what you expect. The cleaning of scenes is satisfying, with clear goals and it is satisfying watching something reach 100% so it gets ticked off your worklist. The story pleasantly surprised me as I wasn’t expecting the main character to be the way he is. There is no true pressure behind certain jobs, as I’ve definitely spent over three hours cleaning at some jobs (dog walk in between). The devs are passionate and the storyline covers heavy topics in a brutal, but honest way. A beautiful game, where the effort and love put into it definitely shows.

Choosing what tools to use, having a cleaner sense for figuring out how many chairs are supposed to be there. Love getting to choose which songs I want in my playlist (Holy Wota the goat!) and what skins I want to use. The story is surprisingly good as well, and I haven't loved a deadpan main character this much since Conrad Stevenson. Can't wait for the DLC!

What sounds like a simple “cleaning simulator” somehow turns into this weirdly immersive, tense, and oddly relaxing experience at the same time. Every room tells a story without needing to scream it at you, and that atmosphere kept pulling me back in for “just one more job” over and over again.

The gameplay itself is very good, many other reviews has covered that. it has that "Viscera Cleanup Detail" that most people likely look for (minus the extra annoyance that game purposely pushes onto you) in a game of this type.
In general, this is a very good game that ill definitely continue playing until i fully finish it up.
However i mostly wanted to complain about one aspect of it, the atmosphere of the whole game is *off* to say the least. The story (in act one) is of a dad who starts working as a cleaner to cover up murders to earn enough money to pay for his daughters medical bills and and send her to college afterwards. This game contains very heavy topics of sexual abuse, rape, sex trafficking, suicide and many such related topics. While i do think that it is *okay* at *representing* these things in a fairly respectful way, the entire mood of the game shifts around way too much. You could be cleaning after the suicide of a girl that got taken advantage of and 10 minutes later, your character would be making some stupid pop-references and tries to be "goofy" with jokes. Which just leads to the main character feeling emotionless which just leads to a lack of actual connection to this character, he feels like a shell that just says things to say them rather than his own character with feelings. ive spent 14 hours with him and i still do not care about what happens to him or his daughter.

The gameplay loop is perfect. They absolutely nailed the animations and the feel of cleaning things. Having multiple cleaning methods is great, and I love the giant endgame levels where you have to think carefully about which tools to use when.
Speaking of levels, the environments are extremely well thought-out. Every location is unique and interesting to explore, and the environmental storytelling means each scene gives you a sense of what happened before you arrived. You can tell so much love went into crafting this game. It is genuinely the best in its genre, and I'm not sure anything will come close for a long time.
Now for the negatives. There are just two.
One: the story contains a lot of serious themes. The character acknowledges this and claims to be burdened by what he's doing, but he also has a quip for EVERYTHING. I mean literally everything. He witnesses a rape victim's murder? He makes a joke. He picks up his close friend's dead body? He makes a joke. He gets in trouble himself? He makes a joke. And the tone of these jokes contradicts how he's been presented otherwise. The plot writing is fairly good, but the character writing is bad.
Two: the physics can be frustrating. The truck sometimes doesn't detect when you've placed a body inside, so you end up dropping and re-dropping. Objects occasionally go flying for no clear reason. Stuff clips into furniture. None of it breaks the game, but it adds up over a long session.
To be clear, neither of these things are bad enough that you shouldn't get the game. If you can stomach the tonal whiplash from the writing and shrug off the occasional physics jank, you'll find one of the most polished and original simulation games out there. - Level Design: The locations are incredibly diverse and creative. Every mission feels unique and keeps you curious about what's next.
- Massive Updates (Act 2 & Nightmare): Huge shoutout to the devs for the post-launch content. Act 2 is top-notch, and the Nightmare Mode fundamentally changes the levels. It’s clear they put a lot of actual effort into these updates.
- Music & Collectibles: The music is very good and fits the vibe perfectly. I love the fact that you can find new tracks by collecting cassettes hidden throughout the levels.
- Secrets & Pop Culture: Finding all the secrets is a blast. The references to movies, TV shows, and other games are brilliant.
- Story: Even the narrative is surprisingly interesting and keeps you engaged between jobs.
