Gravity Lane 981 at gamescom 2019 in Cologne

Hey Leggy, do you remember who I am? Right, Greg, the talking, uh, hamster, and your cheerful buddy on your journey through space and gravity. Are you planning to visit gamescom from 20th to 24th of August? Then I have great news for you. I am there, too. Okay, not me in person, but the people who breathe life into me.

You can find us in the indie village. There you can play our game, meet some of the developers and bombard them with questions. (Don’t be shy, it's their jobs to answer even the most awkward questions.) You also have the great opportunity to check out our handcrafted booth and make memorable pictures. I'm just saying gravity, baby!
Here's a little taste!

Gravity Lane 981: Exclusive playable demo material temporary for free

The demo is avaible till September 15th!

Note: The provided demo material shows an early stage of development.

Hello, I am Greg, and before you ask: no, hamsters usually cannot talk. They don’t have the anatomical requirements. Here’s an easy explanation just for you. Hamsters don’t have human speech organs, nor their brains are able to form specific neural circuits. I'm not going to amplify that idea to avoid flattering yourself just because you can make sounds that someone has called language. All you need to know is: First, I can speak, and second, I'm not a normal hamster.

By the way, many things in my world aren’t normal at all. Or have you ever been in a villa where gravity is playing up and doors and windows are on the ceiling? I also wouldn’t call it normal or even species-appropriate that I am stuck in a gravity gun as an energy source. Sure, somehow you have to move forward in the villa. And the gravity gun is still the most reliable way to get into the next room without breaking your leg or worse. But maybe a normal battery would work as well to supply the cannon with energy. Just a thought...

What? You think I ‘m a cynic? Such a nonsense, in fact I love to run my heart out especially for a higher purpose. Hamsters are crazy about wheels and stuff. No animal can deny its nature. Not even me, right? Well, you can see it yourself and play the game for a limited time. I just hope you don’t have a sensitive stomach.

About This Game

Gravity Lane 981 is an original first-person puzzle game – our love letter to the Portal series. We‘re here to provide you not only with a fresh game mechanic that lets you manipulate gravity but also a thrilling, funny and heart-warming story.

As Stella, a talented but moderately successful inventor, you live in an enormous villa belonging to your family for generations now. Your family is far from ordinary, your closest relatives are a dubious bunch of ingenious explorers and villains. You are the last living member and sole heir to this villa, which is nowhere near usual. But go and have a close look at it yourself.

Once there, you learn that the security system „Dead Paw“ has just been activated – and turned on the countdown of a lethal self-destruction bomb. Hey, we know, not your fault. But you’re the only one who can restart the software to avert catastrophe. There‘s a little problem though – you have to get to the server room, located far away in the other wing of the villa, which is by the way impossible to reach because of the security system. Now you’re in a fine mess.

So, armed with your gravity gun and accompanied by your talking hamster, Greg, you set out to work your way through the numerous safety measures of the villa. Wait a minute. Greg? Who‘s Greg? He acts as the power supply for your gun and he‘s not impressed. But everyone needs to do their bit right? All you need to do is to prevent that self-destruction bomb from tearing you to atoms. Enough to spark your motivation? Ready to accept the challenge?
