The End of the Sun είναι ένα παιχνίδι μυστηρίου πρώτου προσώπου, περιπέτειας, βασισμένο σε ιστορία, που διαδραματίζεται στον φανταστικό κόσμο των σλαβικών πεποιθήσεων, θρύλων και μυθικών πλασμάτων. Ως ο αστέρ, ένας Σλάβος σοφός μάγος προικισμένος με την ικανότητα να ταξιδεύει στον χρόνο και με γνώση για τον άλλο κόσμο, ακολουθώντας τα ίχνη του ασυνήθιστου φυγά, φτάνεις σε ένα μυστηριώδες χωριό. Δυστυχώς, δεν μπορείτε να βρείτε κανέναν εκεί, τουλάχιστον όχι με τον τρόπο που περιμένατε. Το μόνο που μπορείς να δεις γύρω σου είναι καμένες εστίες.

Το παιχνίδι είναι εμπνευσμένο από τη σλαβική μυθολογία και τους θρύλους. Η ιστορία παρουσιάζει τα μυστηριώδη γεγονότα που συμβαίνουν κατά τη διάρκεια των μεγάλων σλαβικών εορτών και στις τέσσερις εποχές, μακριά η μία από την άλλη στον χρόνο. Το gameplay είναι ένας συνδυασμός εξερεύνησης και παιχνιδιών μυστηρίου περιπέτειας με ανορθόδοξους γρίφους προς επίλυση, αλλά η πλοκή έχει την πρώτη προτεραιότητα εδώ.
