What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Spellcaster University is now well advanced in its development process. We offer early access to finish the development based on feedback from players who are ready to face some bugs, some imbalances and a fledgling tutorial, in order to make the game as stable and clean as possible for the final release. Spellcaster University is a relatively ambitious game for a small team, and we are fully aware that we will have several surprises at the release, despite the beta period we have already achieved. In fact, early access allows us to initially talk to more motivated players who will have a relevant opinion on the balancing, the pace of the game, and the content.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect early access to be rather short. The game will be released in its final version before the end of the year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The final version will differ essentially in the amount of content (in particular, more events, more different futures for students, more traits) and will be a more stable game. It will also present a more complete tutorial and more readable statistics. Other additions may be considered based on player feedback, particularly balancing changes.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version of Spellcaster University allows the player to explore all aspects of the game (as detailed in the "About This" section), but may have bugs. The event bank is not yet as extensive as we would like, which can occasionally create a certain amount of redundancy. Some aspects of the game may be unbalanced, and the tutorial does not yet cover all the game features. Otherwise, the game is fully playable.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No, the price will not change after the early access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We provide players with a web page to send us their feedback (bugs, opinions, remarks) to the following address:
It is the tool we use internally, which allows us to be very available. Feel free to use it! (in English or French)”

About This Game

In Spellcaster University, you take on the role of the director of a magic university in a heroic fantasy world. Build your school, manage your budget, recruit teachers. Will you make it a high place of black magic, with the best teachers of necromancy and demonology? Or a school in harmony with nature to train druids and shamans? Or why not train adventurous mages, offering them options to learn how to fight and be discreet? But this will require surviving the ruthless attacks of the orc tribes and the controls of the education authorities.

Main Features

  • Build your university with a mechanism of magic decks. Each game will be different.
  • Manage the well-being of your students by building refectories, dormitories, rest rooms... and ensure their discipline with a dungeon.
  • Customize your rooms with powerful artifacts such as Xar'Saroth's raclette machine or the Soul Devouring Bed.
  • Tame legendary creatures: dragons, fauns, pegasus, janitors...
  • Push your students towards a glorious future. At the end of their course, you discover their future (necromancer, archimage, peasant...) according to the success of their training, and win new bonuses.
  • Select your students: traits, personality, alignment, wealth... each decision will have its consequences.
  • Escape the armies of darkness by building your university in isolated environments: lake, mountain, desert, volcano, giant turtle back, etc....
  • Collect powerful grimoires to strengthen your university and to confront increasingly hostile environments during a procedural campaign.
