What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We have to understand how much people are interested in a such kind of application before we continue our development. Nowadays in astronomy new discoveries are made almost every day. Scientists find new stars, exoplanets and galaxies. The Virtual Telescope can provide as much observation in our Universe as people will want.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“It depends on people interest. If it is low then the game will be a little bit polished during two months. If it is high then it will take us about 8 months to release most helpful and interesting features.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

  • Oculus Rift support
  • More detailed solar system (for example Saturn has about 60 moons and we would like to support all of them)
  • More landscapes for exoplanets
  • Supporting of USNO-B stars catalogue which contains one billion(!) stars
  • Supporting of ISS (you will be able to visit it and even take a look at Earth through a porthole)
  • Supporting of galaxies catalogues
  • Supporting of black holes

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version is pretty finished. Stars are rendered perfectly. The solar system contains all planets and all big moons but some of them need landscapes. There are also a lot of features that still could be added.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Price is going to be doubled after two months.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We would like the Virtual telescope to be easy to use so we are opened for suggestions. There are features which could be added or improved if community asks for them.”

About This Game

Have you ever had so bad day that you just wanted to go away from the humanity and relax? Now you can go to the Moon. Or to the Mars. That isn't far enough? No problem, go to another star system. Check yourself why TRAPPIST-1 planets don't have any forms of life.

Another feature of the Virtual Telescope is to give you the actual star sky and solar system state which depend on your current geolocation and time. You can change zoom or lens size and get information about a selected object or just watch events like solar and lunar eclipses.
