“The King's Bird captures a freewheeling spirit in its aerial platforming but doesn't do enough to leave a mark with anyone but the most hardcore.”

Patch 1 is here!

Hey all, we've just released the first major patch to The King's Bird. The two big features you're looking for are fully rebindable keys and multiple saves (up to 5), and we also have a slew of quality of life changes and bugfixes. Here's the full changelist.
  • Controls are now fully rebindable, found in Options -> Controls.
  • Multiple saves are now supported, found in Options -> Saves, this also replaces the "Restart Game" option.
  • A "Quick Reset" option is now available as an optional keybinding. This does the same thing as restarting from latest checkpoint.
  • Options configurations now persist between sessions.
  • You are now allowed to return to hubs during story levels.
  • Tutorial progress is now saved if you don't reach the Forest Kingdom.
  • A door has been added to Eagle's Shrine after reaching the Battle for the Last Kingdom that takes you directly to it.
  • The menu has overall been made slightly more responsive.
  • Restarting a level now defaults to "Yes"
  • You can no longer keep your gliding in levels that are supposed to remove it.
  • Restarting from latest checkpoint is now disabled until you die at least once after reaching a new checkpoint.
  • Various minor visual and setdressing bugs fixed.
This is it for major changes for a few weeks, because we'll be busy with another major King's Bird milestone. We're still working on the other big two feature requests of replays and localization, but those are going to take a bit longer.

Enjoy!

Patch 0 is out!

Hey everyone!

We've just released the first patch to The King's Bird. We're still busy working on the big ticket features that everyone's hungry for (replays, rebindable controls, and more) but there were several bugs and small features that we felt like we could get out quick without making you guys wait for the big features to be done. Here's the changelist:

  • Fallen Kingdom cutscene (and other cutscenes) no longer stutters
  • Ledge cancels are now possible on gamepads
  • Flying animation will now properly override the dash animation
  • Windowed mode is now resizable
  • Heron cutscene no longer plays multiple times
  • D-Pad on controller is now supported
  • Fixed a few visuals breaking in bossfight
  • Button prompt in bossfight hints more towards what you're supposed to do
  • Tutorial for ledge climb is now properly horizontal
  • Checkpoint added to remove the softlock right before the bossfight
  • Ending of Outskirts changed slightly
  • Various minor setdressing fixes
  • Invisible death zones in some areas replaced by walls
  • Fallen Kingdom and final dream sequence cutscenes extended slightly and audio changed

Enjoy!
