What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Swords 'n Magic and Stuff is a huge game built by a small team. We chose Early Access because we believe in an open development style that includes implementing player feedback early and often. The game has been lovingly crafted for the last 5 years in front of a live Twitch audience, and we want to keep that development open to player ideas and feedback. While we don't plan on staying Early Access forever, we think it's a great way to let players experience the game and voice their opinions as we continue building new areas to explore, new items to discover and new challenges to overcome.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Given our current plans for the game we anticipate the game to remain in Early Access for at least 1 more year. While we're actively working on the game, because it's a passion project, it's easy to continue to add more features, quests, items and secrets as we develop and we believe it's worth the prolonged development time.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“When Swords 'n Magic launched in Early Access we believed we had a solid, yet lacking version of the title. But we had bigger dreams for the game and we've on expanding on every aspect as well as adding entirely new features to create the world it is now.

While our updates aren't always consistent, each update is massive in scale, sometimes introducing entirely new zones to the game doubling the amount of content it already had. Other times we release quality of life patches that polishes up features, adds new ones and fixes dozens of bugs.

The final vision of the game is a massive open world filled with hand-crafted content for you to explore. We plan to have hundred more items to collect, many more mounts to acquire and more player expression than you can shake a pointy stick at.

Our roadmap is publicly available and consistently updated throughout the development.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current state of the game is already far beyond what many finished games could ever hope to achieve. Many players have found a few hundred hours worth of content between questing, leveling classes, collecting rare weapons and mounts and perfecting their crafting professions. Others have several hundred and even some over 1,000 hours in the game spent building castles, decorating them and showing off entire museums of rare items they've been hoarding.

The current features include:

Four large open world zones to explore
One seasonal zone for our winter Frostfall event
Character creation system
Character customization
Melee, ranged and spellcasting combat
Dual wielding
Quests
Shops
Full multiplayer support
Player hosted listen servers
Dedicated servers
Weapon upgrade system
Collection tab to store cross-character gear
Mining
Woodcutting
Herb gathering
Bank/Item storage
Gliding
Animal Companions
Farming
Cooking
Crafting
Mounts
Housing
House Building
Questlines
One main storyline
Two major boss fights
One major seasonal boss fight”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We believe players are taking a leap of faith when purchasing a game in Early Access. We also understand that they'll be playing through some bugs and providing feedback in order to make the game better. Because of this, we get that our game is a bit of a gamble and that's why we're offering the game at a lower price than the final version. We plan on gradually increasing the price as we ship new content and features.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Swords 'n Magic and Stuff has been developed from the ground up on https://www.Twitch.tv/kindredgames where viewers have always given their feedback and input on every aspect of the game. We plan on continuing and expanding on this with Steam throughout Early Access. We hope you'll join us in the development process to shape the world of Tirawyn into exactly what we all want it to be.”

About This Game

Swords 'n Magic and Stuff is a cozy, cooperative, open world RPG centered around the joy of discovery.

An adventure unique to you

Explore a large, densely populated open world on your own or with up to 15 friends. Swords 'n Magic is a casual journey of discovery. You play a blank slate adventurer just waiting to carve out a destiny for themselves.

With a loose class system governed entirely by which weapons you use, you can mix and match your playstyle whenever you want and however you see fit.

So much stuff to do!

Between adventurers enjoy your time fishing, harvesting resources, cooking, crafting or decorating your house(s). Don't forget to check into the shops each day to see what they've got in stock! You wouldn't want to miss that rare painting or special recipe you've been looking for!

Store your unused weapons in your collections where they can be traded between your other characters with ease. With several hundred weapons, hats, outfits, masks, recipes, furniture and fish to collect, you'll never run out of things to do in Swords 'n Magic and Stuff.

Bring your friends

The world of Swords 'n Magic is casual and fun. Being friendly to younger or inexperienced audiences, anyone can pick up a controller and join in on the fun no matter how long each player has been playing.

Adventuring together is great with friends as everyone gets their own loot. You can share, but you don't have to! Take your characters to visit your friend's worlds and see their amazing creations through building and decorating their houses or let them come to yours.

A magical world to explore

From tropical islands to a corrupted forest, the lands of Tirawyn are varied and interesting. With the whole world being carefully hand crafted, there's loads to explore and uncountable secrets to be found. Platform your way up the side of a building, glide off the top of mountains, traverse great plains atop your mount. There are countless ways to explore the world of Swords 'n Magic and Stuff!

A kingdom in need of help

Set in the fantasy continent of Tirawyn once ruled by the great king, Owynn, you start off as a humble new adventurer looking to make a name for yourself.
Since the king has fallen under a dark curse, his great Paladins have retreated from the lands where they once kept order to seek a cure. With the guardians away trouble is slowly finding its way back into the realm and you're not the only new adventurer trying to stop it (and capitalizing on the opportunity along the way!)

Funded and driven by our community

Swords 'n Magic and Stuff was a successfully funded Kickstarter game that owes its existence to our incredible community! We work hard to listen to the feedback of our players and implement it into the continuous development of this game.
